To this day, we aren't 100% sure who composed & performed "Rock The Dragon". It is said that Jeremy Sweet did the vocals, but we aren’t clear on who actually wrote/produced it. I copy and pasted this from Dragon Ball Wiki:
On Dragon Ball Z: Original USA Television Soundtrack, the composers are listed as being Shuki Levy (the head of Saban Entertainment's music department) and Haim Saban, under the alias Kussa Mahehi. The original dub of Dragon Ball Z's first two seasons, which ran in syndication between September 1996 and May 1998, also listed Levy and Mahehi as the composers in the end credits.
Saban Entertainment musician Jeremy Sweet sung the song, despite him only being listed as a music producer in the credits. Sweet is known for creating various Power Rangers theme songs for Saban in the late 1990s and early 2000s, where he often went uncredited. Many believe that Ron Wasserman, who did the first Power Rangers theme and the 1990s X-Men theme, was also involved with the song in an uncredited capacity due to his association with Saban. Wasserman is listed alongside Sweet as a music producer in the credits, but has denied having any involvement with "Rock the Dragon", stating that he only did the background music for Funimation and Saban's edited dub of the first two Dragon Ball Z seasons. In a 2017 interview he said, "First of all in Dragon Ball Z with “Rock the Dragon” that isn’t me, I know a lot of people think it is. What I did is the score for the first couple years [and] that was handed to me after I left Saban by Saban because they said, 'Look here is a show we don’t really care about, so If you just want to score it at home, score it.' So it was an easy gig and I got to do whatever I wanted, so I went with this really heavy, weird stuff." However, Wasserman's background score for the episodes still had certain instrumental musical cues which were modeled after "Rock the Dragon".

Until destroying him somehow crack the dragonballs if vegeta isnt careful then the shadow dragons will remember that and i dont think this variation of vegeta would want that smoke. Db super vegeta can handle it but other than that r.i.p vegeta lmao

There’s an interview with Ron Wasserman (who started the pseudonym Jeremy Sweet primarily for his Mighty Morphin Power Rangers vocals), and he’d mentioned the “Rock the Dragon” theme was already finalized prior to his arrival on DBZ. I wish I could find the interview, one of a handful, but it’s here in KZread. Also, great work!

Oh my god, you did that unhinged scream with a guitar... I'm astounded how well that worked. Not my favorite intro, that's split between Chala and Faulconer's. "Dragonball Z," or "Prelude to Conflict," which always made it impossible to search for covers of. You did a short version of that one once, which made my spine tingle. Still, as always, your covers are good enough to setve as straight-up remakes of the originals, flat upgrades. I almost never need to go back to the originals after you cover them.

You'll be hard pressed to find any Cha La Head Cha La covers on KZread for the simple fact Toei are very overprotective of their stuff. As for the Faulconer's Music Productions scores... only a handful really get covers for the simple fact most of them are very forgettable.

It has nothing to do with Japanese pride, as far as I know. FUNimation and Bruce Faulconer had a huge falling out which lead FUNimation to stop using Bruce Faulconer music altogether for re-releases of DBZ/Kai and stopped outsourcing to music studios to make original American soundtracks for imported anime. In the end FUNimation saw that it was far cheaper to just stick with the OG Japanese soundtracks for future localized animes and re-leases of past ones.

@@gamephreak5 yeah that too... Funimation used to have a different composer for a different audience accordingly back in the days. But now in this diverse age the japanese scores are actually good enough that funimation does not need to make seperate ones for western audience. Which is why the original japanese scores will always be used. The "Japanese Pride" would never let them give us a fan service by bringing back even hints of Funimation scores because they would promote the japanese music as Original a.k.a. Canon content. And thats what i'm sad about. 😥

Thank you my brother!! I thought about what “Rock The Dragon” meant visually, and its like the Great Ape represents the element of earth/rock, but its Vegeta’s Great Ape so its also a depiction of the Saiyan invasion- and when you think about it, the Saiyans really do kill Shenron when they kill piccolo, and therefore destroy the Z fighters hopes at wishing anyone back. The image is like a dramatizing of this conflict :)

Rock the Dragon & the Ocean dub soundtrack was actually done by Ron Wasserman. Edit: I now realise that Wasserman is credited in the title of the video.
I love Rock The Dragon, one of the best DBZ intro themes btw, is the Ultra Instinct theme (Clash of Gods) going to be covered someday..?
