I mean, when your opponent has given his all, and at some point just falls off. The fight would've been too one sided for Goku to "enjoy" (remember, Frieza had just killed Krillin, so only joy in vengeance)

Especially with how eager Goku is to fight anyone that he sees as a challenge. This means Goku has seen through Frieza, and discovered his limits. I'm sure if Goku didn't watch him murder his best friend, he would've probably been a bit more nice talking about Frieza exhausting himself. But nope lol, he roasted him for it.

I'd blame that partly on the Frieza Saga being Funimation cast's first time voicing after taking over from Ocean. They're new and trying to imitate the Ocean cast in places. You can see it in how Sabat's Namek Vegeta is more high pitched like the Ocean Dub's Vegeta was.

I always make fun of the classic Funimation dub by calling it the Dora the Explorer dub. The dialogue sounded like it was specifically made for little kids and there wasn’t going to be a single mature pre-teen, teenager, young adult, or elderly in the audience. Kai’s Eng dub sounds like it doesn’t care if you’re a kid, teen, or an adult…it’s gonna tell you how it is and the emotions are 10x more raw. Also they weren’t really adding their own bs lines, they tried to be as accurate as possible with their Eng dub for Kai. It has a strong sense of maturity and attitude, imho DB’s Eng dub peaked with DB Kai.

So poetic, especially since it was Frieza who was unintentionaly responsible for goku unlocking SSJ and defeating him. He made so many miscalculations and bad decisions dating back all the way back to when he destroyed Planet Vegeta, causing goku to be raised on earth and getting so strong. Frieza's fear of losing to the Super Saiyan became a self fulfilling prophecy.

Goku Destroyed his Mind, Soul, Pride and Ego with that one. Goku will stay in Freiza's Mind Forever without Rent.

I always found this as an underated part of the arc and truly shows how broken this fight made him. His way of fighting as a super sayian in the arc already has altered dramatically and I think this is the perfect way to cap it. He so fucking done with Freeza's shit that he doesn't even have the patience or drive to kill him. It oontrast with how he felt with King piccolo where is rage to kill carried him throughout the whole fight. It shows both how the rage of super sayian is different and how changed he is.

This is honestly what I think Kakarot would have ended up like if he hadn't hit his head as a toddler. Not evil like Raditz and Vegeta, just cold and serious, with a personality similar to Bardock's. I don't think he would have even destroyed the Earth after being raised on it; even Vegeta mellowed out a lot just from spending a couple years there.

We may not see Goku being like this as often in Super, but I appreciate the moments where he pops off in Super, like against Jiren, or Goku Black, hell even Beerus when he lost The God transformation. He went toe to toe with him nearly at just Super Saiyan 1. Like here with Frieza.

I disagree...Goku is "different" in Super simply because Toryiama was not the one characterizing Goku each episode, it was Toei. Different Toei writers from episode to episode at that. Goku was dumbed down to a sense from a lack of understanding of his character and wayyy too many different writers characterizing him each episode

I think people often forget, that in Dragon Ball...Goku was a goofball, and showed "this" side of himself during intense anger when he loses his friends or when they're in danger. He was also a goofball in Z, and showed forgiveness where possible...even to Vegeta after killing some of his friends...but Z had a LOT of death if you think about it. Goku has minimal time to be goofy in Z, least of all against Frieza where he very literally obliterates his best friend in front of him...SSJ is the pinnacle of Saiyan power, but also the pinnacle of anger and rage...even Roshi commented at one point about his sixth sense with Goku and how he was struggling to hold onto who he is...this is very apparent throughout the fight, where he was at first humiliating Frieza (Just prior to allowing him to reach his full power), rather than listening to his Saiyan urges for a challenge, Goku just wanted to end his life, at one point screaming for Frieza to just die (Now DIEEEEEEE!), it's only after he regains some degree of control over himself, his rage and the form that he allows Frieza to reach full power. His anger is still very much present, to where he really doesn't care about the fact he won the fight, didn't care or want to fight Frieza again for any challenge or any other reason, he just wanted him gone and leave him and his friends alone...but Frieza re-triggered his anger and gets himself killed. Goku in Super is not experiencing most of what caused him to end Friezas life the first time round. Krillin isn't dead anymore, most of his friends are alive, Namek is safe and no one is in any immediate danger...he still despises Frieza, and maybe even hates him...but not enough to over throw his Saiyan urges from the challenge of fighting/exciting him, and ultimately Frieza isn't exactly the same person he used to be. So yes...Goku is different in Super, but it makes sense given how the arcs have been written. Dragonball Z was based in and around the Saiyan Warrior, and the Super Saiyan legend, which was focused on rage and anger from the destruction of the Saiyan race (For Vegeta) and the murder of friends and family (For Goku) against the one solely responsible for both (Frieza). The STORY is what made Goku "different" and for a lot of people, preferred it. I also preferred it before the 10x transformations :D I think it was a mistake watering down the Super Saiyan power...I think the fact it was based on rage and anger and had a threat of changing Goku from who he was, into something he never wishes to become in order to face enemies like Frieza was really good writing. Now it's just transformations at a whim, will no real logic, reason or any real achievement behind them...it's always just yet another transformation with no explanation as to how they attained it and then keeping Goku goofy because he has no external reasons for his attitude to change....think the only time a reason came up was because Jiren tried to attack his friends, that was a glimpse of what I was talking about...it's the anger and defense of his friends that brings out the Goku people like, because he's more serious...but as long as it's only his life on the line, Goku will always prefer the challenge and act goofy, because he values his challenges, over his life (Evident by fighting Hit to his literal death). So I don't think Goku has changed...the WRITING has changed in what happens in the shows to cause Goku to become more serious. It's become very PG compared to what Z used to be, and I think that's part of the reason.

I get what you're saying. Goku has always been naive and childlike. It's part of his charm, but Super made him into an idiot. How did he forget to bring things that were essential to their strategy of defeating Goku Black not once, but twice? Also it's shown a lot throughout the Cell and Bui sagas that Goku has matured considerably and they took a lot of that away for comic relief in Super and made him act like a child with a one track mind. The joke can be funny and endearing if done right but they do it constantly

its literally so obvious why people see a change in Gokus character from Z to Super....It's poor writing...Toryiama only provided basic plot points to Toei and then they handled the rest. Multiple Toei writers handled Gokus characterization from episode to episode hence the inconsistencies with his character, it's that simple.

It actually makes perfect sense that Frieza’s own power is draining fast while Goku’s is barely. Frieza, having never trained a day in his life isn’t well-conditioned to fight a battle where he has to exert himself. So now that he goes up against Goku, he can barely maintain his own might Goku on the other hand has been constantly exerting and pushing himself to the limit. Even with the new, unmastered SSJ that he just acquired, he has little trouble maintaining it compared to Frieza. And now with that strength, the need to exert himself becomes even lesser, thus allowing him to maintain his stamina even more

the original dub was horrible because Goku isn't a noble super hero. Imagine watching country boy hick fighting obsessed kid Goku in Dragon Ball and then suddenly in Z he has this articulate speech about justice? That doesn't work at all.

Indeed. You can feel how much Toriyama was aiming for this to be the final chapter. But fandom is a powerful force...

i find what most unfair fight goku vs frieza.goku stil transformed SSJ not yet mastered form but didnt draining his energy but frieza just transform golden form and didnt mastered form draining energy so fast---------it so unfair!!!
