There's one unique pairing worth mentioning. On Stage 3, ally with Vegeta. Then pair him with Tien. Vegeta will steal stats from Tien while Tien's piece is *confused* and *down*. (I think the makers created this as a reference of Tien's hatred towards Vegeta)

I'm seeing a lot of interactions I never knew existed and I played this game a lot.

The only one that I can vividly remember you missing is planet namek with Freiza where you beat him and he responds with the iconic "that actually hurt!" Line, besides that I learned about a lot of interactions that I never would have seen in my childhood. Nice work!

This must have been a pain in the butt to edit. I appreciate you showing all the interactions of Budokai 2's story mode. Budokai 2 should've been included in the HD collection.

Man, what a blast from the past. This was the first video game I ever played.

After completing the story mode hundreds of times I’ve never realized the amount of dialogue there was on the last stage

That's really impressive, I have discovered a few interactions that I didn't know that they were in the game like Krilin's death that gives Goku a attack boost or the fact that Vegeta's interactions at stage 6 are still eligible even if Babidi dies. I guess that it is really the definitive edition for all the interactions, thank you for uploading them.

It's been a long time since I played this and there's so many that i haven't seen. I miss this game. I wish I hadn't sold it.

Majin Cell and Majin Frieza along with the other what ifs in this game were awesome

This made me notice the odd lack of Gohan interactions - literally only has a couple in the one Buu part. Wierd, because he should really have them in every saga. And I guess it's good it gives you the option, but I don't get why they bothered to let you select characters they didn't give any interactions at all. Makes me think they wanted to add a ot more but were short on time, which is probably true for a lot of these games.

I love Justin Cook as Raditz because all I hear is Yusuke

This just makes me wish for a proper "What-If" telling of this take on DBZ and take this style to Super as well using this video as a basis perhaps naming it "What-if Goku Never Died: Budokai 2 Edition"

I used to be disappointed this game's story mode wasn't made of of cutscenes faithful to the anime and manga like Budokai 1 but the unique dialogue was too fun to not enjoy.

I’m still sad that the Budokai Collection didn’t include Budokai 2 and I’m sad they didn’t include the extra stage and Kuriza in the American version of the game

ya likely bc no space, wonder if there was unused data? These two were my favorite as a kid. Had no idea of their relation or whose kids they were. Trunks sword mainly got me, Teen Gohan, top notch design and ultimate.

honestly alot of the canon dialogues are surprisingly alot more accurate to the manga than the original z dub which is impressive since this came out before kai

This story mode would’ve confused the mess out of me if this were my first dbz game, but the dialogue is so neat I feel like I wouldn’t care

This is one of the best parts of this game! And I knew I haven't seen them all.

As a kid, i did not appreciate these 💯 Especially the non-key matchups. It was more of a "This is what such and such would say if they ran into each other" instead of "wow, i appreciate the cast of dbz for making these what-ifs with their full dedicated voices instead of changing them up like they did in dbz kai and super..."

Have Gotenks lose to Buu and he gets absorbed, then Buutenks tries to get to the bottom of the map to escape. Goku is the only one who has interaction with him in this stage.

This game was great along with shadow the hedgehog

I didn’t know about being able to fight Buutenks in the time chamber. I always focused on getting him to absorb Cell or Frieza then beating him with Gotenks. Also have you seen how you can beat Buutenks on stage 8 and make him turn into Kid Buu? He doesn’t get any different dialogue bc of it but it does skip over the whole Vegito part of the stage.

I can't believe I haven't heard about this game before.

Does anyone love the fact that goku got to beat cell freiza and buu more than he did in the actual show.

You also forgot Trunks and kid Trunks both have a line with Vegeta on Namek (though it's not voiced).

I thought if you beat both the Ginyu force members with Vegeta on Namek he gets an attack boost or something. Maybe not?

I kinda miss Android 18's more lady-like voice from this game.

You missed some. I always wanted to make a video of all the dialogue myself but don't know how. Otherwise I would have made it over 10 years ago and it would have all of the dialogue in order Stage 1 Krillin loses to Nappa in the first fight. This dialogue only happens then Piccolo loses to Nappa in the first fight Nappa gets the Dragon Ball Stage 3 Vegeta loses to Recoome in the first fight Vegeta loses to Recoome in the second fight Vegeta loses to Captin Ginyu second fight Goku wins against Frieza in the first fight Stage 4 Krillin loses to Android 18 in the second fight. This dialogue only happens then There's also that bonus stage 10 that's Exclusive to the Japanese version and Dragon Ball Z 2 V version of the game. In this stage Tien and Yamcha learn the Fusion Dance and become Tiencha, with Goku acting surprised on the side. Tiencha then wants to test his new powers against his opponents, who then appear on the board. Only Goku and Tiencha can be used on this stage and no more allies can be chosen. If Tiencha loses, he'll become an enemy character and Goku will have to fight him, once defeated he'll be an ally again. The enemies on this stage are Saibamen (Pink, Blue, Green, Red) Nappa Raditz Recoome Dabura Captain Ginyu

It’s funny to me how Frieza ain’t believed in the term “Super Vegeta” when Vegeta thought he was a Super Saiyan! I honestly wished Vegeta had his revenge on Frieza when he finally became Super Vegeta in the Cell Saga 😂! Frieza wouldn’t have stand a chance against him 🤣! With Goku vs the Androids dialogue against each other was tense especially with Goku and #17. I honestly wished Goku had a chance to fight #16, #17 and #18! If anything #17 and #16. The “what if” dialogues are believable! I see why everyone enjoy Budokai 2 and pick as their favorite! Especially it being like a board game with pieces!

How hard was it to get some of these encounters?

Not so hard when I knew about who went with who, and saving over the stage I was on, made it more manageable. It was getting everyone in the right place to make the interaction that was difficult, like not letting Super Buu to absorb either Frieza or Cell on Stage 7 just to fight him. Despite that, this was worth it.

Man did I love this game but did it nuke the ever loving crap out of the story to me, mainly bc I never finished the series only bits on Toonami. For all the valient warriors that tried to bring me back from the ways of err, I atone. lol looking back at majin Vegeta, I was him in all those debates! "Errr no! this is the way it is! this is the way it should be!

Love that you made this compilation. Thanks for the effort in this kinda obscure game nowadays. Also I don't know if you count stage interactions, but Krillin getting his potential unlocked in Namek is missing.

The version of budokai 2 I have is locked on the english voice overs. Only the PAL version of this game has the Japanese voices, which I don't have.
