Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 is beautiful (With Shaders Mod)

How Budokai 1 looks can be really improved by modding the shaders values: If the right values are set, then no more plastic-like characters.
And the shaders values also improves the luminosity / shading, especially with Super Saiyan characters.
This video showcases what can be done (NB: The game you see in the video is NOT Budokai 1 HD from the HD Collection : It is the original 2002 version of Budokai 1 with edited shaders. And since it is possible to do this, now I'm wondering why when they remade this game in HD, they didn't change the shaders and the lighting like this...

    you got budokai 1 to look like raging blast 2. if this was done 12 years ago it would have been quite the spectacle haha

    Yes. And I obtained this "Raging Blast 1" effect just by changing some values in the characters 3D models. Now I'm really wondering why when they produced Budokai 1 HD, they didn't change the shaders values to this. NB: In the video, this is the Playstation 2 version of Budokai 1.

    Gamecube version adds cell shading making it look more like Budokai 2 & 3, give it a try it looks great.

    What do you mean by an "alternative way" ? Making all characters have their full inventory unlocked by default ?

    I like the Shaders of when you Modded the 3D Characters… and do the other Files without the Pnach a bit like using the Pnach Files will work on the Real Consoles for the Ps2 same as the Emulator on Pc… Should it fit in the Files of Story Mode Costumes to play any of them… also I’ve got a question to ask you What is your Version of the Pcsx2 for Ps2 Emulator the Number your using and how do you make it better with Speed or Normal in the Game and others… I tried to download it from the Website and I don’t know what version is the Stable and Nightly Version… I went to download the Bios and it comes with the Version of Regions your using I added it to Rar File I copied from Highlighting with the Mouse and it doesn’t seems to put it on Browse All What Region I’m using I don’t know what to do May you help me… Please I’m stuck…🙏🏼❤️🥺😢😔😥

    @@grognougnou ok… Using the Notepad+ or Notepad++ to enable and disable next step… put it into the Real Consoles or the Emulator and it should work 100%…

    Do you know how to add music tracks on story mode episodes? I mean, somewhere there are episodes related files that contain the name of the bgm.adx that should play during the corresponding fight. I'd need to change some of them. In Budokai 3 they're stored into bpl files but here is all different.

    Budokai 1 is pretty easy. ADX files are basically wav files and can be easily put back into the game as long as the bitrate is the same

    @@monotypical_ Hi, thank you for the answer but I know that. What I need is to add different tracks on some of the story episodes (i.e. Goku/Junior vs Radish and Goku vs Reecome fights use the same track), that's the reason I need to point some of the episodes to different track names (there are different unused tracks, I can use them if it is not possible to add more files).

    @@papparaba5504 and this is for budokai 1? All of them have names in the files. You kinda have to do a lot of listening with each file before you find it I’m actually modding it myself right now so when I refresh my memory, I can help u out some more

    Est-ce que tu peux me montrer comment tu fais ça ? Je viens de lire que tu fais ça pour chaque personnage, je me demande s'il y a pas une manière plus facile ou automatisée de faire ça pour tous ?

    Dans les modèles 3D des persos, cherche des lignes avec quatre 00 00 00 43 and change les par d'autres valeurs. C'est la luminosité/ombre sur le corps des personnages. Par contre, pour faire ça de façon automatisée, j'ai de gros doutes: Car utiliser les mêmes valeurs ne donne pas un bon résultat avec les personnages et il faut ajuster la luminosité d'une partie des modèles 3D (comme les yeux par exemple) pour que ça rende bien. Aussi, pour un bon rendu sous tous les angles pour les personnages très lumineux (les SSJ), il faudrait diminuer aussi les points lumineux et la luminosité ambiante des arènes.

    @@grognougnou Peut-être que youtube n'est pas la plateforme pour en discuter, mais si je comprend bien tu extrais les modèles 3D et tu les modifies par byte, tu pourrais, pour chaque perso trouver l'endroit des 00 00 00 43, et puis modifier petit à petit là dessus ? Ou prendre le nom du perso, la couleur des yeux et recopier cette couleur sur ces bytes ?

    This mod is unfinished : All characters 3D models have to be done one by one (In this video, I modded Goku base form, Trunks Base form, Goku Super Saiyan and Future Trunks Super Saiyan, to make thi showcase video). All the other characters in the game still have their normal plastic-like look for the moment.

    I never understood why ssj goku spends his ki so fast. You lose your transformation so easy.

    The thing is : In Budokai 1, the ki spending increases with every transformation. So basically in the game's logic : a 3rd transformation consumes more than a 2nd transformation. And so, since Goku has 3 transformations (Kaioken 1, Kaioken x2, Super Saiyan), his 3rd transformation (Super Saiyan) consumes more ki than Gohan' SSJ2 (because the Super Saiyan 2 is "only" Gohan's 2nd transformation). And yes, they could have done better when it comes to this.
