Well, they _did_ make him more heroic here. The original only helped with the "#16's head" situation to look good for the camera and only after #16 stroked his ego a bit, this version volunteers with almost no hesitation.

Theres one change near the End. He seemend more selfless when he helped out. In the OG he was just anoying, and people had no reason to like him. His depiction in this Arc builds him up for the redemption in Buu.

Goku really did beat ChiChi in the world martial arts tournament in the final arc of the OG Dragonball. He beat her in the 1st round, Tien in the 2nd (Avenging his loss from the previous tournament) and Piccolo in the finals. Man that was a good tournament.

Yeah, Vegeta's not the only one who has a giant form. Piccolo doesn't even have to turn into a King Kong to do it, either. Oh, also Lord Slug. Let's not forget him. I know it's not canon, but if TFS does any of the movies, it's canon in their Abridged Universe. I think that's an unwritten law.

@@bradcarver8127 Really? I'm sure there was something new that Akira Toriyama could have done with Vegeta for a twist in the fight. It seems that transformation is a go-to move when you can't beat the enemy as you are normally. It's either grow to giant size like Piccolo and Lord Slug, grow to giant size and change shape like Vegeta, or have multiple transformational forms that get stronger and stronger with each one like Freeza and Cell. I'll admit, Buu was the first one I saw that mixed it up just a bit. He had multiple transformations, yeah, but I think he was the first one I saw in the show that took the powers of the people he defeated (along with their clothes).

5:20 For reference, Chi-Chi was a martial artist too and fought Goku in a tournament. Goku won and they married after that. He put it like domestic abuse with his characteristic naivety but it wasn't. If anyone abuses the other in that relationship, that's clearly Chi-Chi 😆

More like he promised her to marry when he was a kid because he thought it was a food, later he mets her in the tournament as a teen and he doesn't remember her...like, at all...she has the weirdest way of reminding him of his promise in what looks like a form of tsundere, then when he finally remembered (or just accepted that it may have happened) he was like "well, a promise is a promise, let's do this thing!" He definitely never romantically loved her before marriage, and I can't tell if that ever changed or not.

He definitely cares , in Super when Goku Black reveals that he was a version of Zamasu who took Goku's body using the super dragon balls and killed Chi-Chi and Goten, he flies into an uncharacteristic rage at him killing them in his time line

I look at It this way Round 1 Goku won the 1st time Vegeta kinda resented the fact he had to transform against him Round 2 Vegeta (Oozaru) won the 2nd round (Goku would have died had not Krillin and Gohan, Yajirobe returned) 1-1 so far Round 3 Draw Goku vs Majin Vegeta = Draw (however Goku had SSJ3 hidden so he could have killed Vegeta with ease if he wanted)

I'm legit flabbergasted when anyone manages to remember much of anything on any of these channels considering how many reaction channels I've watched at this point, part of the reason why I don't watch hardly any of them anymore.

3:03 the orange hillbilly thing comes from Goku being raised in the woods and Goku and Chichi being the only characters with a countryside accent in the original Japanese voice acting of the show. In fact, at some point in the story, Goku runs into Chichi (when they werent a thing yet) after many years, and doesnt recognize her until she talks.

Since you were so nice to reply, I will add something else that i was going to comment but couldnt because I got busy. I saw another comment here about Cell and how he evolves. The only ones that can allow him to reach his perfect form are 17 and 18. His body is designed to absorb certain unspecified features from 17 and 18 (its theorized that its the androids Endless Energy Core that they possses) to evolve and become the final version of what Cell was supposed to be (kind of like what happened with Super 13), but couldnt because he needed to be raised like an embryo. If he absorbs normal people, or even people like Goku, or Krillin or Trunks, it would be like charging the battery of your cellphone, while absorbing the androids would be like Updating the Cellphones Operative System Of course, Smartphones werent a thing back then, but it still became a coincidental funny pun that you can add the Android to your Cell(phone) to make it better.

Arlia was the bug planet Napa insisted on visiting when he and Vegeta were going to Earth. Vegeta then blew it up.

my favorite part of this episode, 6:21 Multiform technique Cells with a music backdrop of "we are number one" is just... well... Perfect. Also, one of my favorite things is Cells interactions with Goku. the way they wrote these two just... understanding one another.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 the longer the show ran, the harder it got to make the episodes because some members moved away from each other, the production level raised by a lot, there were issues with Toei Animation who own the rights for the show (Japan has little to none Fair Use laws and they are very ruthless with their intellectual properties), as well as the team taking on other projects either because they also wanted to do other stuff, or they had profesional gigs or, you know, partners and raising a family. TFS not only takes clips and add edits on top but also there are alot of assest like new expressions, comissioned videos and music and specially, each mouth flap that we see Mid Namek saga onwards its edited to fit TFS script. Also they toured quite a bit for conventions and stuff.

Actually, the guy doing "That makes sense" bit was Grant btw. Also, it was his only role in DBZ Abridged. He joined TFS pretty late at some point in early Season 3 and has been doing mainly Gaming and skits. Mostly with another recent TFS Member named Kirran.

I love how Cell knows Piccolo's move better than Piccolo himself...well, three out of four Cells at least.

Ok, so in the OG Dragon Ball, Goku participated in 3 World Martial Arts Tournaments. The first one he lost at the finals against Master Roshi's alter ego, Jackie Chun (by K.O). The second one also lost at the final fight against Tien (by ring out). The third one he won, he beat Piccolo (by K.O since the ring was destroyed at that point). Also, his first fight in that third tournament was against ChiChi and he beat her with a ring-out using a wind wave move so he wouldn't hurt her, that's when ChiChi reminded him of his promise to get married and they immediately got engaged.

The beginning with the crowd falling for Satan is kind of reference to how Toriyama writes the world's population as complete idiots. In the series, the people are very stupid and after various news reports and other worldly destructions they just forget everything. Only a few people ever remember how truly insanely strong Goku and his friends are.

I can’t wait for you to get to Ep 60. It was a long journey(about 10 years) lots of burnout from them in between, but when it was done it is truly their best work, alongside Hellsing Ultimate abridged final couple episodes

My favorite parts of this episode are when King Kai butts in when Goku asks about the Spirit Bomb and the Kaioken and the “We’re Number One” part, RIP Stefan Stefansson

5:13 With context, Goku didn't physically hit ChiChi. He stopped mid punch in the air, and used his ki to push her out the ring to win that round of the tournament. After that, they got married 😂

If you listen when goku puts his fingers up to his head to do the instant transmission you can hear the signature popping sound. Also it was pretty funny that cell said most of the Makankosappo only at the end add in Cannon which is the end of the dub name of Special Beam Cannon

Though, fun fact, Mr. Satan is a title and he is technically the strongest human in the world without ki abilities. He's ranked at like 6-10 humans in power and is roughly about 1000-2500 on a scouter

I love the moment of Goku trying to think of the name of the technique but Piccolo can't say it. So Nail and Kami do. But since Goku can't hear them, he has no clue what's going on. Well, he usually always has no clue what's going on but this was different.

So fun fact, the music in the background of fight between cell and Goku was the same as the song “We Are Number One” (the theme song of Robbie Rotten, the villain of LazyTown), when it was a huge meme

I believe 'that makes sense' guy is another TFS guy named Grant, Krillin is voiced by one of their founders, Nick Landis. I might be wrong though, but he does sound alot like Grant.

Yamcha was the adult protag in DragonBall. Kid Goku and Krillin followed and exceeded him. There are many times in DragonBall when Yamcha was the only one around to root for. (He also learned the Kamahameha Wave first.) Arlia is Episode five of DBZA.

Guko is actually right with calling the Cells Kameha Yamchas Move. Cell changed the direction off the beam mid-air. A skill that off all the characters using the technice only Yamcha can pull off.

8:56 the joke here is actually a double, obviously they just mentioned that the kamehameha is Roshi's invention, and Goku calls it Yamcha's but also it's actually a Bending Kahemaheha which was actually invented by Goku, it's first use ever was in his fight against King Piccolo in Dragon Ball, and Yamcha has literally never used it

That end was a reference to when Vegeta/ Napa stopped on the way to Earth. It was parodied early on in this abridged series.

the ending scene is the bug planet that nappa and vegeta visited before earth in like ep 3-4. there never a reactor i watch that every remembers them or get that bit and i dont understand why! one of my fav bits

Yamcha and Piccolo are really the only Z Fighters who invented their own techniques as opposed to just gaining them from others. Gotenks too especially, but he only really got to use them once or twice.

The end bit, that was the planet nappa and vageta went to before showing up to earth very early episodes ago.

Goku & Cell basically flirting with each other about how powerful they are is hilarious they have a little rival crush on each other. Yeah Goku’s only original technique is dragon fist which he hasn’t used in a while & you could maybe argue Instant transmission. Cell supporting Yamcha is so wholesome.the end but is a reference to an earlier episode where Nappa & Vegeta invaded a bug planet & Vegeta became a prison female dog.

The last bit was from the episode when Nappa and Vegeta were traveling to earth but made a pit stop. Well, episode in abridged version, but I think in the original it took more than one episode, despite how obscenely short the story was. (Edit): And also in the original story it was an arranged marriage, and the Queen was actually in love with one of the prisoners Nappa and the short one rescued. Of course, whether or not they rescued anyone was kinda irrelevant because they were always planning on destroying the planet, and just stopped by for sh×ts and giggles.

About the last scene, have you forgotten on Season 1 when Vegeta and Nappa destroyed that Bug Planet while they were coming for Earth? I guess they repopulated 1000 years after and the Kamehameha just wandered for that much time before hitting the new Bug Planet.

Technically, Tien beat Goku in the 22nd world tournament by a ring out with both combatants free falling.

I can’t wait until episode 60!!! This reaction channel is the absolute best!!!

Goku calling the Kamehameha "Yamcha's move" is correct. Yamcha and Krillin were also students of Master Roshi and learned it from him. Gohan knows it because Goku taught him. Cell knows it because he has DNA from all of them in his body, except maybe Gohan.

cell is the only main villain of TFS that nearly immune to goku's stupidity. in fact, as you can see, he finds its adorable.

Lackadaisy just came out, I think you guys would love it. It's an action animation revolving around 1920's prohibition, and it's really good.

About Chichi... Goku meet her during Dragon Ball. They got betrothed because Goku thougth that Marriage is some sort of Meal. In the last Chapter of Dragon Ball, the gang enters once again in the great Martial Arts Tournament. This is the first time anyone meets Piccolo, whos only wish back than was to beat & murder Goku as revenge for his Father. Chichi actually made it into the finals and than got 1 punched by Goku ^^* But Goku being Goku, he kept his word and married her. So yeah... also Chichi was once in the top 10 of Fighters...

8:28 by my count Goku has three technique that are actually his. The god bind, the god shot, and dragon smash. He also has the dragon fist but that’s not cannon.

I love the fact that Vegeta hates Tien so much, _he sided with Goku._

Hey, they brought back the Arlians from Season 1 in the last scene. They were the bug people that Vegeta and Nappa visited on the bug planet Arlia before they got to Earth. Yeah, it was a long time ago, I know. But, this joke was a long time coming.

The whole thing goku was talking about where he mentioned beating his wife was a lot less brutal sounding than it actually was. Goku fought in like 3 tournaments the first when he lost to Jackie Chun (master roshi's alter ego) by knockout and then Tien beat him by ringout in the next one and then Goku finally won a tournament when he beat Piccolo. The first tournament he was just a kid but the other 2 he was a teenager. He fought Chichi in the last one who he met as a child (it was literally love at first sight for her while he was completely indifferent and he agreed to marry her thinking marriage was food) so when they met up in the tournament she reminded him of that promise and he agreed to marry her. He also technically did beat her in one shot but he used a wind technique that forced her out of the ring cause he didn't want to hurt her. She got what she wanted so she was fine with it

The bugs were from waaaaaay earlier in DBZA. Last we saw them, Nappa and Vegeta were on their way to Earth :)

What makes the banter even more interesting is vegeta has beaten goku 3 times now and goku has never beating him once

People have covered most of the Easter eggs and what the jokes are based on, but I would like to clarify one thing: The multi form and tri form techniques do NORMALLY split power between the various bodies. HOWEVER Cell doesn’t just copy techniques, he improves on them, so his clones have NO loss in power according to him. This could be a farce and the clones are simply using latent power OR produce enough power to self sustain while only partially formed (meaning they take FAR less energy, but not none). Either way, it’s an impressive technique. Goku’s ability to deal with it is a testament to his greater skill. The Goku vs Cell fight is really rooted in the theme of hard work vs natural talent, a reflection of all of Goku’s past fights which is further evidenced by Cell literally having the abilities of all of Goku’s friends, foes, and rivals. Naturally, it’s a reflection of the entire dragon ball franchise and for that reason is an absolute treasure in the series.

“How many Goku’s have you beaten?” That line is such a special one up, because Tien actually DID beat Goku.

I give the delivery truck some credit too. Writing that down, Dragonball was such an creative experience.

You guys have probably been told 100x by now but they're doing a commentary where 2 of 3 main writers rewatch and talk about its creation. No need to react but differently a great watch for a great series

Actually Yamchu used the Kamehameha in one of the great Tornaments in the original Dragonball. I think it was the first where he used it against Tenshinhan. Didnt helped him much. The joke was kinda weird not gonna lie, cause Goku legitimate learned the Technics, while Cell just remembered them due to his Genetics. Its funny, but nonsense.

It's so bittersweet that you're getting close to the end, but I can't wait for it. Especially looking forward to episode 60 (which by the way, you don't have to worry about muting any music in that; it's all good to play) and hopefully if you will be watching Dragonshortz and HFIL.

While Mr. Satan is a fool and played for a lot of laughs. It is pretty cool that the original as well as DBZA gives us the perspective of an ordinary human. Clearly, the powers displayed by our favorite characters are extremely rare and would be very mind-boggling to the average human in the DBZ world. Also, it's clear the two of you are not prepared for what's coming and it will be sooooo much fun to watch!

Just FYI The public was just as hypnotized by Satan in the real show as they were in the abridged.

If you haven't watched episode 60 yet (i don't know how quickly you put out the video after watching), You might want to make sure you have plenty of tissues handy. It's a rollercoaster to put it mildly

"Are you gonna hit me? Or are you just gonna stand there staring into my eyes? What was that? I was busy staring into your eyes." I love how TFS established Goku as "Fightsexual" as in he finds fighting to be the most intimate,passionate,and true way to truly get to know someone. 😂

Gohan goes to public school in the next story arc

The Chichi bit was accurate but misleading. Chichi had a crush on Goku when they met. They were children at the time. Chichi asked Goku if he would marry her, and Goku, thinking it was a food, agreed. Flash forward to the last World Martial Arts tournament in OG DragonBall. Everyone is grown up now. Chichi is in disguise fighting Goku. When she reveals herself during the fight, she reminds Goku of her promise to marry her. He decides he will marry her after the tournament, and she basically falls out of the ring.
