Hey Masako I love this video and yes I am looking forward to the movie. It has made me wonder if you are making a What If? or thinking about a What if? Where at the end of DBZ Goku doesn't leave but does opt to train Uub closer to home or even alongside pan?

They would have to send some supplies to Uub's village/family immediately to help out but then you could have the three of them make the journey to Uub's village/family with more supplies and make it apart of the training like OG DB, choosing not to fly, use vehicles or instant transmission

I just finished my run though GT. It has its moments, especially Pan, but it had issues. Super did have better writing for several characters, especially 17 (Super did worse when it came to Goku though). I think Super can and will do Pan better.

I always say that problem with Gohan was never the fact that he liked to study, it was that he focused solely on that and didn't try to balance things out and keep up with his training. It's not about loving fighting but about being responsible in Dragon Ball world where giant threats and villains appear constantly. That was the message that Android 16 was trying to tell him. And yet he seems to learn that lesson over and over again. Like, he should train just for the sake of keeping his wife and daughter safe or rather keeping the planet on which they live safe to put it better.

I honestly would love to see the next generation take up the role as heroes. Have the older heroes be mentors and have them learn from them but have the kids be the stars. I like the idea of Pan being trained by Gohan and grampa Pic. But one day needing help from her other grandpa and then she has to compare what Gohan taught her to her grandfather. How Gohan is more compassionate and think things through. Goku is more punchie punching with how he handle things. How funny if Pan calls Goku out for paying more attention to fighting than his family. Something Gohan never did

You do realise Gohan is the worst fighter in the series right?, pan need’s to be trained solely by Goku along with Uub if they want to reach their full potential. Being trained by serial losers like Gohan and Piccolo is a sure way to fall into irrelevancy.

@@MrJokerSenpai He actually has a point. From a technical perspective there are four humans and Piccolo who are all better fighters than Gohan. Gohan's more a brawler who relies on power, he never dove into Martial Arts. Heck, power equalized Pan's other grandpa might be better lol

Goku in Dragon ball back when people people werent overwhelmingly strong and humans stood a chance was still a better martial artist than everyone but Roshi, and has only continued to get more skilled, he's far more skilled than any of the humans. Gohan trained with Goku in the RoSaT, and became so skilled Goku said Gohan was as skilled as himself, Just because the humans are constantly fighting upwards and have to be tricky, doesn't mean any of them are more skilled than Gohan and certainly not Satan who's best move is a hard punch. because I doubt any of the humans have surpassed Cell games Goku, and Gohan has long surpassed that in skill.

We honestly want for Bulla and Pan to do something...

9:44 I watched GT after finishing z and super and as I was watching GT I always wondered myself how cool it would've been if Pan were to be the first female saiyan to become a super saiyan. I could argue that if set right it would be a historical moment like ssj4's appearance and ssj4 gogeta's appearance.

Long time GT fans like myself wondered why Pan never went Super Saiyan in GT, as she had multiple opportunities and circumstances. And like you said, done right it could've been a historical moment like SSJ4 Goku and Gogeta... A dang shame really.

The prospect of Super Pan being better than GT Pan will make things very cool going forward in the series. Plus I always thought she should've been the first Super Saiyan

Well, I love Pan. I thought she was adorable and I enjoyed her in GT( Despite her being a bratty grandaddy's daughter!). However, I'm just hoping she gets respected and becomes a fun loving adventure seeker like her grandpa; not like her dad who came off sheltered.

Same here! I always liked her positive sweet moments enough to overlook her abrasive moments. I even like her dub voice! Sounds like dub Videl's daughter to me. Much like Broly, I hope Super can redeem Pan in the eyes of the fans and do her better and make them fall in love with her!

Super can t do anything about Pan, she was fine in Z as a kid, and she won t grow up in super so she ll stay a kid. GT has one of the thing i love the most about DB, ssj4, but also has some of the stuff i hate the most, like pan(face it she was insufferable in the 1st arc) and super c17 arc.

I think it'd be cute if Broly ended up being added to Bulla's stable of super powered protectors. She's already got her brother, Dad, and Beerus, the Sayin Rage boy would make a fine addition.

I am writing a Dragonball fanfiction and this is my exact idea. Like, she’s still incredibly powerful, but the higher the Super Saiyan level, the more she struggles to maintain it. It ends up being an area of frustration for her because her best friend, Bulla, can basically master any Super Saiyan form with barely any training. Whereas Pan trains all the time.

With us having Ultimate Piccolo in the upcoming film, it seems entirely possible these two may have discovered the means to teach someone to Unleash their Potential without a funky ritual. That or the thing going on with Piccolo is unique, impossible to be certain at this point lol

Human-Saiyan hybrids are actually stronger and smarter than pure saiyans, or at least they have the potential to be. Pan should actually have an easier time becoming a Super Saiyan than Goku, Vegeta and Gohan did.

@@dplocksmith91 that’s true for half-Saiyans. But I like to think quarter-Saiyans have the potential to open up possibilities for new rules to be created!

When you enjoyed some fanon version of a character despite not liking the "canon" version and finally seeing the series use that better direction. It took a while but Pan is being portrayed better.

Step 1: Let Pan go Super Saiyan Step 2: Let Pan go LSSJ/Berserker Saiyan Step 3: Profit!!! (Literally!)

Her GT designs was pretty cute, being a nice throwback to her mother's tomboyish appearance when she first appeared in the Buu saga. But sadly yea, there's no denying that the personality just didn't match her look, make any sense, especially the dub making her act spoiled. It is nice to see her Super Hero design appears to be channeling elements of her GT and end of Z look, which could mean she may grow up similarly to her GT counterpart, just hopefully with her being able to keep up with her family and friends. She doesn't have to reach the likes of Super Saiyan Blue, but if she can at least unlock some of the forms, and maybe even gain some abilities unique to just her, that'd be satisfying enough for many I'm sure.

Raditz: Wait....You like Bugs too? Gohan:Wait, you too!? Raditz: MY NEPHEW. I'M SO SORRY!

The issue with GT Pan is that GT in general mainly developed and progressed only Goku. Other characters like Pan were robbed by the writters obession of giving Goku all the major and relevant spotlight. Pan and Uub were wasted potential in GT, hopefully the same doesn't occur in Super

I think the biggest mistake was as MistrareFusion pointed out, not fusing Uub into one character. Make Pan the reincarnation of Kid Buu. You can give her wacky powers, and a transformation in the form of just a pink aura if they wanted to. It's literally the simplest, laziest, and most beneficial change they could've done.

I think Pan should also experience some level of conflict in her life as well that forces her to build strong character/resolve but that could be to much to ask for Dragon Ball lol

Hell, maybe she's afraid of her power and Mr. Satan tells her not to be, because deep down if Buu wasn't evil, Pan isn't either. Would give him a nice GT moment.

@@charleswisconsin9196 It would be, but this would be right up Toriyama's alley. He's a comedy writer first and foremost. Imagine how much fun he could have with her if she had Buu's powers. Or just give her Buu's nearly unlimited stamina and make her another Arale. In fact that would've been fun. Arale vs. Buu-Pan.

For me personally, I would love for Pan to be able to go Super Saiyan but tries to go against her Saiyan nature because she's afraid of the power of it. Like there could be a case, she accidentally injured someone or hurt a family member like her mom or grandma chichi or grandpa Hercule due to her cockiness or recklessness (like Gohan had after turning Super Saiyan 2). From there, we can see her either to choose to fight in her base form or steer clear away from martial arts in its entirety even though she still haves the love and support from her family and friends. She will then be meant with a dilemma of her own, would she try to stay in a comfortable space, possibly ignoring those in needs or would she face the uncomfortable and throw herself back out there in the martial arts world and take a chance of handling being a Super Saiyan to protect the world and her family just like the Greats before her!

I don’t think DB creators will get over Goku. Gohan was the character with the most potential, both in power and story progression. Now it would be a great moment to go from Gohan to Pan, but it think we won’t. Sadly.

Yeah I agree that the main reason Pan is disliked is due to her portrayal in GT. I would love to see Pan going on her own adventures around the world such as Goku did when he was a kid. It would be nice to see Pan train with Goku, Uub and Goten in the future!

Let’s hope this Pan can go Super Saiyan.

If Toyotaro has his way, Pan AND Bulla will be super saiyans, just hope he doesn't go the whole "we've been practicing" route he did in his AF fan comic, that was a little cringey.

While its theoretically cool to have characters that eventually don't want to focus on fighting, the show is about the fighting and power ups, so it functionally makes them non-entities in terms of the plot. Like, the story isn't really structured for them to go do meaningful things, and due to the power curve its very hard to make them relevant for bursts where we see what they've been up to. Later Shonen tend to focus more strongly on ensemble development (my Hero Aca, where Deku, Todo, and Baku are the strongest but everyone else is developing too) to curb this feeling. Dragon Ball doesn't really let anything else be important, so when characters stop focusing on the important thing, they become unimportant. That's why some of people's favorite bit of lore in recent years was the idea of Gohan's scholarship turning to ki, because it integrates his scholar identity into things the show considers important-- you can imagine him blending his two worlds, training to widen his understanding of ki, pushing it beyond Goku's (even if he has a lower raw power level) so that he can fight villains (especially lieutenant types) giving lectures to students, delivering exposition or ki based solution to problems (like helping Goku or Vegeta develop new techniques based off his theories.) This is further accentuated by Dragon Ball's relatively one dimensional power structure, which was satirized back in abridged by pointing out that a speed gimmick villain is stupid in a setting where power level = speed, specialties functionally don't matter-- the last time anything like that mattered was Tien punching way above his weight class that one time in like Z... although i guess the ToP played with it via 17. Later Shonen tend to diversify the character abilities such that their tactical utility can create apples to orange comparisons of power, and asymmetrical ability to handle different scenarios.

I really wish the humans and other characters could become relevant There are so many ways to do it that arnt used They already trained on king kais planet So they could master the kaioken They could use the gravity chamber and no humans can use it Yamcha couldn't use it because instead of working up he tried to jump to 300x and couldn't handle it it has nothing to do with sayain physiology as Goku struggled on king kais planet at first but the humans also managed to conquer that gravity They could give them hidden potential or unlock their potential They could have them also train with whis Make a reason why they train with Whis There are plenty of mortals In the TOP that arnt sayains that manage to have excell don't even get me started on Jiren and Toppo I'm which Toppo was most likely trained by the god of destruction to be his successor or by the angel If they wanted too they could do things with the humans and half sayains They just don't want to P.s don't even get me started on how they could increase the strength of android 18 if they wanted she is already cybernetically enhanced imagine what plot power up Bulma could give her since Bulma is just as smart as if not smarter then gero who made a human strong enough to break a super sayains arm

True on the one dimensional power system. But even that can be remedied I believe. Multiple threats and objectives. Not just one big peg to cut down. Like in the Namek saga. Krillin and Gohan stealthily gathering the dragon balls under Frieza's radar. But expand upon that and have a primary villain that needs Goku and Vegeta to defeat. And then multiple smaller threats that the A team can't get to because of said primary villain. Then add objectives that need to be secured or everything fails. That way, everyone can be useful. And frankly it's more realistic. It's not just about concentration of force. But also deploying that force effectively across relevant fronts.

Introduce SSJ4 via pan. Let her grow a tale and keep it. That way she don’t need no ritual, or divine training to be relevant. Plus it helps her stick out and serves to bring in a badass design into Canon

I would love to see a badass pan like a mix of videl and some parts of chi chi

it took meeting the Force Ghost of Luke and Mara Jade, his ancestors, plus the intervention of the Imperial Knights -including the very daughter of the Emperor Roan Fel- saving his bacon to set Cade straight, along with the sacrifice of his former Jedi master. Granola reminded me of Cade Skywalker. Like, a LOT!

GT pan was clearly meant to mirror Videl in her teens. Videl was absolutely a hot head. Oh and I miss it SO MUCH. I honestly can't stand mom Videl. They wrote out any shred of Videls personality.

If Toei regretted making Goku a kid in GT, why didn't they just make it so that SSj4 permantently overid the wish?

Was not expecting a Cade Skywalker shout out/reference. Kudos to hav and you. Legacy and by extension legacy II did the future of Star Wars in a good way especially if you know how things play out.

Anybody else noticed Pan has pupils now? Nobody ever points that out, but I find it interesting since most Saiyans are pupiless aside from Trunks & Kale.

I noticed it as soon as the 1st teaser (with her) dropped lol Personally, I think it's a great choice cuz now she won't simply be Chi-Chi 2.0 (in terms of visual design) but actually LOOK like G+Vs daughter.

I genuinely hope that Super continuity will have its own take on Pan's development. Let the GT Pan be its own interpretation and make this one a notably different one. You have the opportunity for a new take now, don't waste it.

You know Pan really got robbed out of being the first female Super Saiyan when even her non-Saiyan mother became closer to being one than her. I mean, I know that's not what actually happened during the Super Saiyan God ritual, but the imagery was there.

Personally feel that gt will end up getting rewritten in super as there using alot of ideas and call backs in the manga and be a good way to fix some of the problems in gt

Is it fair for me to say that Pan in _GT_ is basically the _Dragon Ball_ counterpart of Scrappy-Doo?

I’d love a series where we get to see the youngsters take the lead: Pan, Bra, Uub, Marron and maybe even one of 17’s kids, with Trunks, Goten, Dende and Mai in secondary roles and the old guys as, well, the old guys. They stay in the background because the adventures are actually too small for them to take care of (think of it as the difference between what Superman does and what Batman does.) As for something to set out Saiyan girls apart, how about this: make EX Fusion canon. 😁

Even though Pan is annoying in GT I did like her to an extent. I hope will see her character actually do something in Super but I'm not holding my breath because it is still the Goku show. They should steer towards the future generation from arc to arc.

i want Pan to inherit her father's rage. and not his slacker tendencies

I would really love to see pan in actions and care for her character. Like, it isnt i hate but dont love i just see em and im like" oh they are there too cool i guess" But the new pan (AW SHE LOOKS CUTE) Has a lot potential to become something unique! Form a mahou shoujo Super Hero Squad Like Precure. The original that was more hands on and intense

I'd love for pan to be the main character while bulla, goten, trunks, and occassionally uub show up. They could definitely remake dragon ball but in the modern way

I've been saying since before Moro's arc that Dragon Ball Super needs an arc or two for the characters not named Goku and Vegeta. If we go with powerlevels, with the discovery that there are divine techniques that go way beyond what saiyans and their transformations can do, that's literally the perfect tool for characters like Krillin, Piccolo or even Roshi to matter again beyond being Goku's cheerleaders. And Gohan's whole "I want to evolve as a earthling instead of a saiyan" was a good line... that was squandered. *AGAIN* Not only that, if we keep scalating things... well, the 12 universes and the multiverse of DB is going to become extremely small, and there is just so many times we can accept "Nah, Beerus is still stronger, he is still hiding a very big chunk of his true power" before going "Yeah, no, at this point ZENO-SAMA should be at most as strong as Goku and Geets" So the other characters having their own stories, their own adventures? I'd love that. And don't get me wrong, Goku is still my favorite character, I want him to matter, I want to see his story and, above all, I want him and his legacy to be respected (in other words, I don't want for Dragon Ball to go the same direction as the fanfic about the son of Naruto), but that doesn't mean that I don't want the others to actually MATTER. Keeping with the Naruto example, sure Naruto is the main character and all that, and the other villages have cool characters... but the Konoha twelve (except for Naruto and Sasuke, obviously, and maybe Shikamaru) were very treated bad in the fourth ninja war. Very badly. They should have been the heroes of the arc, ALL of them, not just the main two. They do have their cool moments, but nothing compared to certain other characters. Same with DB. So, let's hope we get to see the rest of the cast get a bone or two thrown at them

"Pan's grandfather's series" I hope we get to actually make jokes like that.

Bruce Falconer did justice to the series, that is the only thing we need back for dragonball, Pan as a character wasn't bad, I liked her being edgy and badass and what not, I rather have her in fighterz then kid goku from GT Pan just never got her moment in GT, and that was the biggest problem with GT.... GT was the Goku show, nobody had their moments, Uub was another character that has been heavily overlooked GT had its pros, but it definitely had cons

But Bruce Falconer didn't score GT, only Z. Mark Menza scored the Funimation dub of GT.

I can't believe I almost got jump scared by a non-jumps scare slow moving Radtiz. Anyway. I feel that Pan is an interesting character given the legacy she is following on from. And there is a part of me that hopes that we might get a spin-off series lead by Pan and some of the younger characters which is in the spirit of Dragon Ball with Goku and the others being part of the larger scale Super stuff.

I don't blame the dub for Pan in GT. Like she is still a nothing, she didn't really have a "moment", she was kinda weak and while not as annoying in sub but still annoying. Also as mentioned in the video, NO SSJ for PAN, even in Super Dragon Ball Heroes game, Pan and Xeno Pan STILL don't have SSJ, SSJ God or SSJ Blue.

I see Ashoka Tano from clone wars as what Pan could have been. A character that was not liked that could have gone through an amazing arc to become a fan favorite. It just sadly did not happen.

Videos like this is the reason why I don't watch movie trailers. I don't want to know ANYTHING about what I'm watching. Not even the genre. It's ok to be genuinely surprised and not over analyze something before you even watch it. I've seen so many movies not even knowing if it was horror or science fiction or romance. It's a good feeling.

Very much hoping that Bulla, Pan, and hell, maybe even Marron, get some more screen-time with Super. Wouldn't it be rad to have a whole new generation of characters to carry on the Dragon Ball name, with older Z and Super characters as Mentor figures?

I always wanted dragon ball to end with Goku as a grandpa, just like it started with him and his grandpa. Pan always seems to like one of the potentially important characters ever

If there was anything that I loved about the end of Z, it was Pan! She was such a cutie, and she is what I would have pictured the OG DragonBall's Goku and ChiChi's kid to be like~ I did like how in Super they clearly showed that she has incredible potential! And honestly I hope they actually do something with her in the future beyond the Movie,.. Heck, with Goten and Trunks actually young teens in the movie, it wouldn't surprise me if they are laying the foundations for the potential of a spinoff that's a rewritten GT,... Like it's not that they are *actually* planning on doing it, but I could see if they are atleast setting up the pieces so the option is there in the future. Why I would say Spinoff is because under the guise of 'Spinoff' they could have the focus off of Goku and onto a new MC 'like Pan' because it's not ''technically'' the Main series~ But this hypothetical wouldn't happen for several years since if they want to continue the Anime, they have the Manga to work off of in the meantime.

Imma be honest, while gt pan came off as a brat at times, Im fine with her as a character. She had her rough spots but she was also still a kid at the end of the day. Kids are going to be rebellious, going to be cocky, going to come off as annoying, and going to have an attitude. How ur raised matters sure but lets not pretend like all kids are quiet and never make trouble😅 Sure, pan at the end of Z came off as sweet, but as u get older, things can change. However despite her "flaws", she still showed she cared and would jump in to help even when she was told not to. In the ova tho, we can see how she changed and matured. Her attitude didnt come out of left field for me tho. Did we forget who her momma was?🤔😂

@Jessica Martin Honestly? Not for the better. Her being beaten on by spop made her more quiet than she used to be. While its great she understands how dangeorus the world of the z fighters is, she not only stopped training, but lost her attitude and the spark she used to have. Spopo low key beat the character out of her. If anything, spopo hitting her and seeing gohan be drained by him couldve pushed Videl into training harder to be able to protect her loved ones and herself better. I prefer a content creator by the name of smugsticks portal of her. In which she may not be the strongest but she still has a level of sarcasm and wit to her. Videl was castrated and she doesnt even have "that" to snip😂 "We got none of this with pan" We see pan being stubborn, but we also see her doing less of that in the super 17 and shadow dragon arc. Funny how a 10 year old was more willing to help goku fight the dragons than his "rival" or sons were☠

@Jessica Martin I was talking about attitude, not power lol. I agree it could be partly gohans fault, but the blame is also on her for completely giving up. Heck she doesnt even go back to being a VIGILANTE. And i think her attitude wasnt exactly the issue. She can temper it, not get rid of it in its totality. Pan did get nicer tho, and it was only like a few months or so since the start of their journey.

I hate how Dragon Ball Heroes made a lot of things for fanservice like Gohan SSJ4, but never did a SSJ Pan or Bra.

One thing I always loved was how Goku in ssj 4 has Pan's color scheme, kind of signifying her part in bringing it about. I doubt that was the intention but it works

One thing I like about gt pan is her visual design, it’s really cute 🥰

You know, one thing always bothered me about Dragonball Super, and that’s how Goku essentially caused entire universes to be erased during the tournament of power. Yes, you can make the argument that they were going to be erased anyways by the Omni-King, but Goku accelerated that process and yes the Super Dragon Balls brought everyone back. The problem is that he still did it, and though his relentless goal to become stronger he practically caused untold innocent people to be erased through his innate desire for battle. What I genuinely want to see is Gohan actually standing up and telling Goku off about this, to finally put his own foot down against his father and to say that enough is enough, to keep pushing for even further heights and risk of creation itself being harmed and not just their family has got to stop, otherwise Gohan will have to fight him, he’d lose sure, but not before trying to prove the point that Goku had gone too far this time.

Did Goku actually suggest the universe eliminated and getting destroyed thing? I know it's probably a nitpick but I don't quite remember. I was pretty mad that he did that too when I first saw it too. Seemed kinda out of character

@@Al7249 Probably not, but even he should’ve thought that such a tournament was not without consequences, and then when the Grand Priest informed Goku, Beerus and the Kai’s about what would happen to the universes that lose or be eliminated, he still went along with it like it’s some giant joke. Any normal person, even a Saiyan would take a step back and think this through. For Goku, apparently that’s not the case.

Hopefully, Pan becomes a better character than in GT.

I’m OK with Pan finally having decent character development. Just, please, not at the expense of Goten of Trunks, and especially poor Marron. Marron literally just exists to prove that two characters had a kid, and will probably NEVER get to be her own person, when she is in a completely unique position in the setting. (Knowing intimately about the many fighters and their secrets, but not having a means of becoming “cool” [powerful] like they are.) Look deeply at that unique place, and see how Goten and Trunks must look from there!

Personally I would love to see a new Namekian they could have piccolo spit up an egg I think it would be a great sparring partner for pan Plus piccolo needs someone to spend time with.

Interesting subject, man. It's been a longtime. Yeah, I agree with you, I didn't like the Mark Menza score. In fact, why did Funimation Now used that Music Version in the English audio instead of the Japanese original!? 😠

Additionally, Vegeta and Goku are reaching the end of what they can learn from the gods, knowing how Dragonball is inspired by Journey to the West. Toriyama sees that as time goes on that the older cast would need to serve as more of teachers for the next generation of characters to follow suit in their own version of enlightenment or ultimate power of the next generation. And Toyotaro will probably be in charge of that kinda story as a continuation past super.

So they showed oob at one point and we got pan and we even had a “story arc” for trunks so what will happen next could we get some sort of reboot for gt that is canonn?

Spanish Latino dub uses the original Japanese score so pan is not as annoying as the English . Yeah I never got The Whole trying to Americanize anime to make it popular. I grew up watching the Latino dub so gt wasnt. Soured for me . They even did a good cover of the Japanese openings. All through dragonball to super. Mexico did ultimate battle justice. The cover is beautiful 🤩. Not what was done by funimation…. Their obsession with muting the score and giving the voices higher volume instead of properly mixing the two is beyond me.

Was I the only person who actually liked Pan's annoying azz? Edit: Wanted to say that Dragon Ball Deliverance did a great job with their take on Pan.

3:30 Imma be honest, as a kid and even now, The gt rap is what DREW me to gt. Keep in mind rap was pretty popular around the 2000s time. While the "hold my hand" song was precious, it didnt capture my interest like the gt rap did

I think it would have been cool if the G.T incarnation was a team in TOP perhaps Universe 3 given the amount of robots

I remember watching the score comparisons in GT where Piccolo speaks to Gohan before he dies. The original had a great, emotional track. The dub had the same, hollow, band is warming up guitar and took everything away from that scene.

I'll always stand by the fact that GT's ending is the perfect way for the series to end, along with Hero's Legacy.

ok, hear me out, during the ceremony to turn Goku into agod Pan siphoned just a little ki from each Saiyan turning her base kiinto God ki essentially being born a god making her the linchpin in future stories. she could even get arrogant like in GT and later be humbled again.

@Knox2Don Personally I feel like gt failed way harder that super because while super had a manga that is a better alternative gt doesn't additionally ever since db super broly super has being doing a comeback story and character wise and the new concept gt introduced failed and was never fixed while in super the moro and granola arc greatly improved and enhanced thr concept of God ki and made it solid taking all if this in to account super is not a failure and it's potential was shown by the direction Toyotaro is taking it and the super broly moving enhancing the manga and animes story and lore.
