Fun fact: Trunks was always supposed to have the same hair as bulma. On manga covers, Bulma had lavender hair, but they changed it to blue in the anime, and forgot about that by the time trunks came around. this is more of a course correction than a change. (doesn't explain why kid/present trunks wasn't updated for Super)

I was more annoyed that they kept kid trunks hair purple but then went back to make it so future trunks had blue hair in flashbacks. Just say the hair changed colors as he gets older

1:01 Fun fact: The purple hair that Trunks had in Z was actually the color that Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, wanted Bulma to have. You see, whenever Toriyama drew colored pictures of Dragon Ball involving Bulma, he always colored her hair purple. But when Dragon Ball received an anime adaptation, Toei Animation (the studio behind the Dragon Ball anime) colored her hair blue instead. As an apology for getting Bulma’s hair color wrong, Toei gave Trunks the purple hair Toriyama wanted Bulma to have. The reason Trunks’ hair is blue in Super is to match Bulma’s since they’re supposed to have the same hair color.

a Bit of COntext for Mai: Mai was originally an antagonist that worked for emperor Pilaf....who worked for KING piccolo(the current piccolo's father)) this was during the OG dragon ball, before DBZ. In Dragon ball super((shown in the MANGA only)) Future gohan as a kid, went with bulma to use the dragon balls before piccolo fell to the androids, but were beaten to the idea by Emperor Pilaf, Mai, and Shu. He wished for their youth to return, resulting in the three becoming babies and technically wasting a wish (technically) . Soon after, the dragon balls turned to stone for good because piccolo died. in the past(( the usual dbz story where goku is still alive as well as all his friends)), it seems that during the cell saga, they were turned into babies. Mai and Trunks are basically the same age.

My favorite out-of-context anime line

In the manga, Bulma and Trunks both have purple hair. For the anime adaptation, Bulma's hair was made blue while Trunks' was kept purple. By the time of Battle of Gods, Akira Toriyama had begun coloring both Trunks & Bulma with blue hair- not purple. Because, why not? Cause there were lots of changes anyway. Anyway i like this look better too.

His hair was blue in the original manga so they changed it to blue from lavender to match back to what the canon originally was.

The reason Trunks hair in Z is lavender while here its light blue is because Bulma's hair was supposed to be lavender in OG Dragonball but Toriyama changed it

I remember when the leaks initially released for Goku Black and it was crazy to see as a 16 year old kid, admittedly it did take away the surprise factor. Now watching this as an adult and basically forgot it since it's been so long, it's a very well done reveal, like wowzers

Dragon Ball Time Travel is multiverse theory. You can go to the past and change whatever you want, but it just makes a different timeline. If you return to your present, nothing is different save for what you bring with you. So the timeline Cell is from is the "original" timeline. Trunks is from a different timeline. And the show follows the timeline that both Cell and Trunks interfered with. So since Trunks lived through the Cell games (...well, was revived), he returned to his ruined timeline and defeated #17 and #18. Nothing was undone, they still destroyed everything and the world was ruined, but he had the strength to end them and people could work on rebuilding. ...as you saw, it didn't get a happy ending after all.

Goku Black arc is the first semi direct involvement Toriyama had with Super

I wouldn't call the Cell Saga light-hearted, but I understand that you might think that since you've watched the abridged version. I think the better word to describe the arc was "hopeful" since all the Z Fighters were alive and Future Trunks was able to make a difference. It was only the Buu Saga that was comedic, the sagas before it rarely had any comedic elements.

There's only one Goku in the entire multiverse, but there are multiple Goku's in different timelines. This may be hard to remember but alternate universes and alternate timelines are two different things in Dragon Ball. For example, Future Trunks & Kid Trunks are both from Universe 7 but Future Trunks is from an alternate timeline given that different events & experiences unfolded for him.

I love japanese writers. "Hey, we have to make sure people know this Goku is evil! What do we do?" "We make him black."

The blue hair is an art choice, you can take it as the hair changing in tone based on his age, as he matured more it turned more like his mother's. This happens in real life with certain hair colors.

This is my favorite arc in Super.

Strap yourselves in guys. This is a wild arc.

Don't worry that's the same Trunks you know, it's just that his hair and Bulma's have been inconsistent. In early concept art & dragon ball movies, Bulma actually had lavender hair like Trunks but it eventually was changed to blue.

I know it wouldn’t make sense but I would love to see them watch the Black arc in JP, like I love Monica’s Bulma truly, literally grew up on it. But it would be nice to honor her JP VA, at least up to her final performance🖤

Mai is actually an anti-villain from the original Dragon Ball. She worked for Pilaf (the little blue guy) along with Shu (the ninja dog) as his chief enforcers. They were getting older, so managed to gather the dragonballs and wish for their youth back. It...overcorrected. By Future Trunk's time, she has about 60 years' worth of combat and special forces experience. Future Trunks and the main cast now exist on branched timelines. The general though is that the time machine Trunks uses is still aligned with the main timeline. As long as Trunks doesn't change the amount of time he's going back, it'll remained locked on the main timeline.

It best to just not think too much when it comes to dbz and alternate timelines because the movies bounced around trunks and gohans age. Trunks still looked the same while gohan was either younger or older, but thanks again for another reaction 👌

It's too early to be confused about the timeline of Dragonball Super

In the Dragon Ball universe when you time travel, you’re actually going to two separate realities. The current series you’re watching is technically a third reality. In the first reality, Goku died of a heart disease, then the cyborgs kill everybody Trunks goes back in time into the second reality. With the help of Goku and the others, he killed the cyborgs. Unfortunately, no one knew about Cell. So when Trunks went back into the Past (second reality) as Cell put it to get his hair ruffled Cell was waiting for him. Trunks was killed by Cell and Cell stole the time machine and went back in time to the third reality. In a causality loop when This Trunks goes back, he goes into the same past that Cell did to achieve his perfect form. Which you have already seen explained to you in the abridged series. 15:53 So when Trunks goes back to his own future to kill the Cyborgs He already knew that Cell was waiting for him and killed him to. The same amount of time has passed in both realities only Trunks’s future is 17 years ahead. We don’t know much about the second reality except only the cyborgs were defeated, and trunks died.

I was waiting for you guys to see the reveal of this villain. The jaw drop when seeing Goku lmao Also, timeline is different from multiverse in Dragon Ball lol

The blue/purple hair problem is Toei's fault, in the manga both bulma and trunks have purple hair but they chose blue for bulma for some reason and when trunks came along he had his manga colors, now in super they couldn't change bulma's hair because everyone has gotten used to it so they changed Trunks's hair instead to match his mother's, these coloring problems happens sometimes for example when you look at Vegeta's earliest appearances in the anime you'd see that he had red hair

The blue hair is just consistency. Bulmas hair color was originally kinda ill defined, but ended up being purple in the manga. The anime chose blue, which was also a color that Toriyama used for her hair, but chose purple in the end. Trunks was the outlier, using the manga purple, despite anime Bulma having blue hair. Now they are just consistent with future Trunks und Bulma. Don't ask me why they didn't correct present Trunks in dbs.

The is the best arc in this series imo

Not really a spoiler at all just to help wrap you head around the time travel. 1) Goku dies and we get the future Trunks 2) They beat androids and Trunks comes back. Cell then sneaks up on Trunks and steals his time machine. 3) The timeline were they meet Cell. And yes Cell going from future to past did create another timeline. And that's how it works as of right now.

Just imagine how sad Bulma was when she was about to die to the person who destroyed almost everyone and everything she loved, only to see the face of her best friend

You guys should Totally check out the manga version of this arc after your done with it.

Someone else already explained this the reason why trunks had blue hair is to match his mothers. When the show was originally adopted into an anime, they changed Bulma’s hair color. But they gave trunks her original Manga hair color. So when it is super, they made sure to keep continuity by allowing them to have the same color. But that does not explain Kid Trunks whom still has the lavender. Of course we’re all set up with the same series that can’t get Goku’s super Saiyan hair right either. By the way Future trunks also had orange hair in several chapters. Try and figure that one out.

So you guy’s probably don’t know this. Pilaf, Mai, and Shu where original Dragonball villains. Actually they where the first. At the time, Mai was a 10+ years older than Bulma whom was barely a teenager back then. Now remember, way back earlier in the series Pilaf mentioned that your Dragon balls to make themselves younger, so they can keep their youth when they rule the world as adults. This wish happened during the three years. Goku’s and Company were training for the androids after Trunks, gave them his warning. in Future Trunks’ timeline that wish also happened. Presumably, before the battle with the Cyborgs. So Mai is about the same age physically as Trunks but she’s like 50. Keep in mind, Future Trunks’s timeline is 17 years ahead of where Super takes place. So the two of them grew up together. You have to assume that Piaf and Shu were killed either 17 or 18 or during The recent Black rampage.

This is probably the only arc I like in Super. Goku Black and “spoilers” are among my favorite villains in Dragon Ball second only to Cell.

Ahhhh this arc an arc of... a lot of controversy. Yes Piccolo is that tall he's pretty much the tallest of the Z fighters at around 7'5'' also there's a very funny reason why Zeno eliminated the other 6 universes it's not much of a spoiler but I'd rather not say unless you want to hear it.

I generally dislike and disapprove of Dragon Ball Super, but this arc right here is the only one I aknowledge. It had some really innovative ideas for Dragon Ball.

You saw Mai use a Glock on Gohan and accidentally shoot Videl in the movie. She is capable with all kinds of weapons, giant robots, and decent airplane pilot. She is the most capable of the three but that’s a pretty low bar.

And it was a better choice. The gruff voice was done because at the time all they knew was it’s an Evil Goku. FUNimation wasn’t dubbing Super like that yet. And it was a better choice than gruff evil Goku.
