@@statesminds Oh you certainly can, I can vouch for that. Imagine this, you're 7-8 watching Dragon Ball GT with your best friends, enjoying the present like the kid you are. You haven't watched it since, but you remember the song vividly. You haven't seen your best friends for several years, not since you moved away when you were nearly 9 years old. All you have left to remember them besides plain old memories is the dragon ball gt opening, and you know how slippery memories that old are. So you go to listen to the song to transport you back to the good old times, when you had no worries and could just play around all the time, barely had any difficulty with schoolwork so it was like you didn't have to do anything at all, and you could just have fun with friends, jump on the trampoline, etc. I'm 14 almost 15 atm and I still miss them. The dragon ball gt opening is all I have to really take me back to the past, because back then, that was like the only song i ever listened to, and I only listened to it when I watched it. I still have INTENSE nostalgia when I listen to the song, like all the memories are RUSHING through my head.. and it makes me happy, almost like I'm with them again. You may think childhood friendships won't stick with you or are essentially meaningless if they don't last, but think about this-- you don't remember ANYTHING bad that happened with them. It's ALL good memories. Heck, even when I got really bad food poisoning I still was like "PLEASE CAN THEY COME OVER?!! I CAN HOLD DOWN WATER I SWEAR!!" I didn't even get to say goodbye to them, because by the time I had to move away, they were in middle of a vacation. And a month before I was about to move back to the area, when I had just turned 12, they disappeared without a trace, even though beforehand they had contact with my grandma. My grandma told me they even wrote me a letter, that I never got to read... I still think about it and wish I could've read it, I really regret not being able to read it. She also said they were super excited for me coming back, so I was heartbroken when they disappeared. I still cry around their birthdays because I'm not there to experience it with them. And you know, I've forgotten most of the crap that's happened all my life, yet for some reason they just stick with me so well. I'm still so attached to them and think about them all the time, sometimes I even smell them randomly. I remember their smell, their faces, and their voices-- everything. The dragon ball gt opening is the way I feel them again, the way I recall the joy I felt. The nostalgia I feel is unexplainable, and I loved it so much that I learned to play it on the piano MYSELF. This is basically the only song I listened to back then, since I didn't really listen to any music back then but I watched dragon ball gt. The point is, you ABSOLUTELY can feel nostalgia at 10, 11, 12, etc. It just depends on your circumstances, like how significant those times were to you and if that's the only thing you have to remember those times or not. It's how your past affected you, how special it was to you. If it's just "ah things were better back then, I remember listening to xxx all the time. good times." then I'd say the nostalgia isn't really nostalgia, so to speak. If you feel as if you're really *transported* back to those times, if you start to recall smells, faces, voices, and moments vividly like you're actually reliving them, THAT'S nostalgia at its finest. And you definitely can experience that as long as you have the brain capacity to remember and long for the past, so probably 9+. It just depends on *what happened*. TL;DR: They can have nostalgia, it's just human. Just depends on if their past was anything significant to their present selves or not. Did I include my personal life story to go on this rant? Yes.

Akira was the main reason i got into anime and drawing. After watching Dragon Ball for the first time i was hesitant, but then growing up watching it i was hooked line and sinked. Will miss you Akira. You left a HUGE impact on many inspiring manga artists and myself. You shall always be remembered as a Founding Legend and a National Treasure in my heart. And ya know, ust for the hell of it imma marathon ALL of Dragon Ball. Just to honor his memory. Until we meet again Toriyama.

Damn, all of Dragon Ball’s openings are such bangers. The creators need massive props for nailing songs that just fit the flow and feel of the show every time.

My wife thinks dragon ball is stupid, but isn’t it amazing how many life’s it’s touched? Anime can be just as special as a song, a movie, a book, a painting, a canyon, anything else.

the Genkidama theme from GT is still in my opinion, the most emotional piece of music that Dragonball as a franchise has produced

I also really like it. I'm partial to the Portuguese (PT) version of the song as they were able to work in a screaming KAMEHAMEHA into the lyrics, which to this day I still think was very clever and awesome of them to do, but the song is great in any iteration or language.

The only people who hate GT are taking it wayyyy too seriously. How a cartoon could ever illicit hate from someone is beyond me.

Im so upset I recently got into dragon ball and now Akira died, it's too soon to loose this legend. R.I.P the legend Toriyama 🕊️
