Not sure why, unless he wants to keep it all based on oil burners exclusively, but I look at it as something mechanical whether diesel or gasoline doesn't matter as long as it's good content. Always interested in the old Gangster Caddies, especially if they have the biggest cubic inch stuffed under that 2 mile long hood I'd still be interested even if it didn't just cause those land yachts were just cool, same with Lincoln's of that era. Victor Bray did his first donut in his actual drag car at my parents track and after that went and built his burnout car, Brett Stevens also. Funny thing was Ben Bray used to drive their small hire car around our complex, he could barely see over the steering wheel lol.. Quit burning up clutches doing burnouts. Burnouts on stiff wall, street tires is useless. Switch to super singles on your drive axles. Dial in that suspension. You want max weight transfer from front to rear on your launch. Custom build your front shocks with a 90/10 valving. Expand quickly, settle slowly. You need a 4 link or 3 link in the rear to stop that horrible axle wrap/wheel hop.

  • @TheCrustyFatCab

    @TheCrustyFatCab

    Ай бұрын

    It wasn't wheel hopping much at all this year. Changed to new much softer tires, the burnout is just to clean the dust/dirt off them from the pits. Super singles don't work any better, there's a reason no one runs them.

    As if he was trying to heat soak the ole Detroit to me as well, because he never really tried to spool up until he'd had to back out twice, and caught him having to back down third time with his pants down for sure. I'd of made a point of just pointing that BS out to everyone. Cause he spooled up very quick when he wanted to finally bring it up on the turbos, not sure how the lights works as far as second bulb on staging lights. I replayed it three times to see if that's what was really going on, and it sure appears to be the case. It's bad enough with gasoline engines, but oil burner that could easily mean bad things happen because of that small minded BS.

Have you welded all the spider gears solid in the rear ends, so all 8 tires pull the same? 🎉 and a cab over truck would be much better for access to the drive train. A gmc crackerbox cab over is what I would be racing. Very light cab, and full access to everything for service.

    It has a slipper clutch now, but this was the first time out with it. Takes some getting used to. It has full locking rear ends.

    @@TheCrustyFatCab does the interlock work between the 2 rear ends? Seems you're spinning the front axle more than the rear one.

    @KBS117 i can assure you all 8 tires are spinning. Hell the 1st race Friday we were going a little sideways at the beginning!

    @@TheCrustyFatCab just thought the front axle was spinning more than the rear. The front rear axle gets lighter when the power hits the rear ends. Thought maybe you could get out of the hole a little quicker with the spider gears locked solid. Are you running an air bag suspension or a Rockwell spring system? If bags, a leveling valve for each axle might help keep the weight on both axles, but you would need quick dump valves so it could adjust immediately. Quite the setup you have. I've had the v8 71'S run away from idling for 2 or 3 days with the blower drain tubes plugged, filling the blower box with oil. They hit about 4 grand and float the valves. They will sit there doing that for about 15 seconds until they clear out the blower box. I know the sound they make when the valves float, and it seems like I'm hearing it a little when yours hits higher rpms. I'm thinking your valve springs may be getting tired or maybe you need stiffer ones? You could be loosing some high rpm power due to valve float? Also wondering if some different marine cams would give her more zing, as the land base cams are epa friendly and waste alot of fuel and air? You got the fuel to her, now you need to burn all of it. Just my experience speaking, and I would love to see that thing kick ass and take names everytime it rolls up to the line. Does your engine bypass the blower when the turbos spool up? I understand that's a 90 h.p. gain to relieve the blower of duty during turbo boost. Not trying to tell you how to do it, but I am curious as to your setup, as I really want to build one. I was thinking of using the hpop and injector system from a 7.3 or 6.0 diesel to do what your doing. The early 6.0 uses a hpop system that is independent of the engine. It isn't incorporated into the block, other than the pump is under the intake. It uses separate hydraulic lines to feed each bank of injectors. Nothing is built into the heads or block. On The latter 6.0's, that wasn't true. Anyway, good luck and give her hell.

    arent all detroit 2 strokes technically common rail as they have a pressurized fuel rail feeding mechanical unit injectors actuated by a camshaft?

    No. The pressure is not behind nozzles.

    When will he put the 12v92? While he doesn't install the new engine, how about increasing the size of the Turbochargers and injectors again? I heard that there are 300mm size injectors.

    V12 will be going in a different truck. We have more fuel available than it can burn. I just installed a new pair of turbos a couple days ago. Still trying to optimize the setup.
