drag racing 1960's part 1
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
an early event converted from film....an added context to Nostalgia drag racing is that it was started at O.C.I.R. Orange County international raceway in the mid seventies when a flathead / inliner (straight 6 and 8 cylinder) club known as Forever 4 club had street rod races at aforementioned track. the earliest known dragster to appear that had significant history may have been the Sacramento based Ed Cortapassi & Doug Butler "Glass Slipper" a 1951 dragster with a fully enclosed cockpit .Then in 1981 GNRS grand national roadster show winner Tom Prufer along with buddy Ken Foster organized a yearly race which later became the NDRA Nostalgia Drag racing association . By the mid 80's events were from east to west coast and a series was born with membership and a newspaper. By 1988 the t-shirt vendor from so-cal had sued to gain control of the growing organization. By 1989 and the closure of Fremont drag strip the WCTA West cast timing association was hatch by Tom P. and continued at Sacramento raceway . End of part 1....THIS CHANEL IS NOT MONETIZED SO IF YOU SEE ADS ...ITS NOT ME.

that's great how noble and altruistic Hurst and other people helped each other for free! such a great spirit of the family of racers.
Garlits Wynn's Charger at the beginning of this video looks so spindly and delicate. It flexes so much even as he is just lining up.
I attended every day of racing in 68. Nine weeks later I was in Vietnam.

Does anyone remember Mike Michell ? Ran a corvette no roof or windshield , said worlds fastest hippie on the top of the door . Late 60's early 70's. I remember looking at his car in Hot Rod magazine and trying to build a model car that looked like his car .
love it!!!

You might check some old Sandy Nelson from the Surf Music Craze era! He was huge with the heavy hitting beat.

St. Mars, for your information, “Railjob” was 1960’s slang for a slingshot dragster.
