I own a 2010 Diesel Punto that is in pristine condition. Except for regular servicing i haven’t spend much money on it. It’s engine and transmission is made like a tank and is rock solid. After 10 years and 115000 kms I still get about 18 km/l in the city and 22 km/l on the highway with proper driving of course. The driving pleasure after 2000 RPM is just unbeatable. We bought it brand new and honestly I like it’s 1st generation original minimalist Italian design better than it’s highly dramatised 2nd generation design. Except for the cosmetic changes it’s pretty much the same car. Definitely one of the most beautiful cars Indian roads have seen. Just love the car !

Honestly the polo was quite close. The only reason why the abarth was pulling ahead was its 30 bhp advantage. Its a shame that the gearbox offered by fiat was so poor, a hatch with those specs should do a far better 0-100 time.

@@MunishK02 shame on fiat which had so much money it generated from licensed production of multijet engine to maruti and tata, but they jave not invested anything in india. Even today, tata harrier,tata safari, mg hector, gloster are power by fiat engine, but they are not selling vehicles in india. Fiat is to be blamed, not customers . They are making large profits every year

The fact that it was that close to the punto and the way it pulls from a standing start makes me fall in love with my polo tsi mt all over again 😀

I own a Linea T-Jet which has the same Abarath Engine but a detuned version. Without watching the video I knew Abarth is the winner 🏆. Abarth was India's most underappreciated car

I own a Fiat Punto Evo and I love every bit of it...from styling to handling!! Proud Punto owner.❤😁

Actually that 100kg difference is a big one for the VW..thats where the VWs initial comes i think..Punto how ever is always the built to last tougher one!

The 100 kg difference doesn't even matter since power to weight ratio is still on punto's side. Its probably the polo's superior gearbox.

Abarth Punto has a bigger 1.4litre, 4cylinder Turbocharged petrol engine bro unlike the Polo TSI with a 1.0litre, 3cylinder Turbocharged petrol engine, so it was quite disappointing to see the Abarth struggling to win. And yes the Polo provides better build for a cheaper price for it's engine compromisation.

Punto definitely equally reliable as Polo

I have the Abarth! 2015,November, Still the most fun car! My other cars were the zen 1.0 ,Punto 1.6 And along with the Abarth, a x1, 2013, with rear wheel drive

Abarth Punto - My dream car with that scorpion badging on Engine cover. By the time i was in a position to buy, Fiat stopped selling and couldn't find one in used market as well. It's a rare gem. Finally settled for Honda City 5th gen

No Hatchback in India can beat the Abarth Punto as on date. Fiat always used to manufacture car for ride quality, handling and road grip. Even Fiat had entered with Palio 1.6 petrol of 100ps power in India with Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador where VW brand have not even entered in India. Those who knew it they know what is Fiat actually for.

Once a fiat driver, always a fiat driver. I had the 399th of the 500 cars made that you're taking about. And, man, that was one hell of a car.

I knew the result even before watching the video, thats the mark engraved by Abarth Punto. Abarth is not just the machine developed by Fiat but it's the legendary. FIAT! we Indians missing you a lot❤❤❤❤

I have Fiat Punto since 2010. And even today it run as comfortably as I bought.. Punto is the Best 👍👍

I own Fiat Punto and I would say it's best in its class

If the drag race was for a mile long, punto would have killed the polo as it was pulling ahead of polo at the end of 1/4 mile.

Punto my love.118054km driven, Still driving and will drive it another 70-80 k kms. Sad that fiat gone from india but looking to purchase abarth soon.

POLO AND PUNTO both are my favorite but unfortunately Fiat was gone so, I bought a polo last June.

They were only in India for so long because they were happy selling engines to Suzuki. Their after sales service and poor gearbox ratios had them beat by everyone Even now you see with about 30bhp advantage, that result wasn’t that surprising And don’t get me wrong. I love Fiat, but what’s true is true

Should have drag raced with Polo GTI

Only reason punto lags behind is the tyres.. put on sticky 205 on the front stock alloys and polo will see smoke from the beginning.. stock 195 apollo are a joke in first and second gear.. and whoever is harping on about the polos well engineered lineage has clearly never tried the abarth

That Punto is from Kolhapur and I drove it on the day this car was launched in Kolhapur it was good event. Awesome car 🤩

The only worthy competitor to the Polo, in my opinion. Dear Autocar India, this video is my favorite of all till eternity. Being proud owner of Fiat Punto, more fun is with Hydraulic Power Steering

This challenge is being given by a tiny 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine. Still it was just fraction of a second less than abrath.

I own the Abarth Punto Evo Supersport (EU) There is a very tiny amount of cars out there which could smoke me that easily. My Abarth has 179 HP and 270 Nm Torque and it's quite stock. I need about 7,4 sec. From 0 - 100 kph. The Abarth Punto Evo is for me the best car existing in this world ❤ Even tough it's not the fastest one.

Punto Abarth Still a champ........but very underrated.

So much performance from a 1 liter engine and such fuel economy when driven with sanity. The engineering in polo is leagues ahead of the Punto, it's also a modern engine though, so ig it is to be expected.

Polo did pretty well, for its power and engine size. Polo GTI and Polo R WRC are the fastest versions in my country.

Abarth was was a great car but i feel before the end of current gen Mach 5 polo, VW should offer GT / high-line variant with 1.5 tsi 4pot 150hp motor from taigun line up with DSG or Manual respectively keeping in mind there trend with milking the Mach 5 gen and habit of offering more than 10 different engines up until now in Mach 5. I think that would be of the greatest and befitting fair well to a car which was exceptionally well built (Which can't be said for new Volkswagen & Skoda) , also it would be the best gift to the fans who have supported the Car for a decade now.

Had to be the Abarth..

Abarth Punto with 145 HP should have had 205 section rubber from factory. Sad tha Fiat shodded it with 195 section while 114HP/123HP Linea had 205 section tyres.

It's really amazing to the engine quality of the fiat some people have clocked 250000 kms and counting with smoothness as good as they initially bought it. Although fiat owners can still have an official service in kht tata and jeep service centers it's very saddening to see the company move away from the country with their high quality products
