Guys disclose the 10k fsd add on. Quit making it look extra expensive. Also for the love of God ev acceleration tests require an soc disclosure

@@larryspiller15 you just destroyed your own point. FSD is optional. It can be added on at any point after purchase of the vehicle. You can buy the performance trim without it. Not everyone wants that option. Just like how dealerships of other brands can add pin striping, underbody rust protection, and other after market dealership options that helps inflate their profits.

They should show it in every video but they don't. The SOC was only 197 Miles or less than 65% which does make a difference.

Still very impressive for an suv, to be that close to a new corvette is really amazing.

At $100k it’s a bargain. It looks like a Ferrari, sounds nasty, and finally GM made a beautiful interior. If GM makes a $100k Z06 and $120k ZR1 it’ll be game over. . As it sits, a $70ishK z51 with a supercharger is nasty fast. I hope they bring back the 427cid small block and cam it to run even more rpm. 750hp naturally aspirated, 520ft lbs, rev to 8k rpm with the same torque per liter as the 6.2.

@Catholic Firefighter I'm sorry if English isn't your first language but the models you're talking about are "long range" and "standard range" variants which are slower but they aren't "performance" variants such as the "model y performance" or "model 3 performance" or even "model s performance". Out of all the "performance" variants Tesla makes the model y performance is the slowest. The 2021 model 3 performance and c8 corvette have the same quarter mile times and Dragtimes has a video of them on the highway.

Is that the long range model?

@@KiNG-tx9je This might be true for the previous p100d/raven models. Model S Plaid keeps going all the way up until 200 mph where it hits a wall. itll keep up with a supercar past 150. Maybe sheer power or engineering, either way it pulls hard even at the top end

try Model S Plaid vs Bugatii

A model Y pulled up next to me at the light tonight. Murdered out wrap, lowered, blacked out tint pumping music. He lined up right on me, then kept inching up and up got like a good 1/2 a car' in front of me - obvious he wanted it but i knew i had it so didn't really want to race. I won't say no though. i was gonna let him get the hit if he wanted to go. I just pulled off normal so did he, but once we hit 30 he hit it he got about a car jump until i reeled him around 70 then it was bus lengths after that. Very unimpressed. He wouldn't even give me a thumbs up as he passed and i turned off lol :(

When launch control is all wheel drive😂😂🤣 I think since the model Y is sub 3000-4000 lbs if you pulled the seats out and as much else as you could I think you’d pass it up no problem at all even though that corvette gradually builds up speed it does it quick, I think you’d need a quicker launch due to weight on the Tesla

I understand cross shopping to the Model 3... But an SUV vs a 2-seater...I dunno man. For what it's worth, I get it... I love the C8, but own the Model 3. In the real world it's just so much better, but it's hard to quantify passion vs practicality. I have other passion outlets... but if I didn't, this would be an incredibly hard decision.

@@brois841 maybe it would help if I explain the better. I have a Ford C-Max Hybrid that I use for Rideshare but it's got 200,000 miles on it. And I have a BMW M2 that's my fun car. I'm deciding whether I want to replace my everyday car I use for Rideshare with one vehicle, or just get another car as my fun car. I don't think it's unusual for car Shoppers to look at different styles of vehicles. I'm not sure what all the Uproar is about LOL. I was also considering getting a Tacoma TRD Pro pickup truck

Funny thing is I love chevy and I have a chevy love them but tesla is my favourite car since 2017. Mad love chevy but sorry my dream car is tesla Y🇹🇹🇳🇱🔥💯

if you really want to compare brands you need to also compare classes of course we already know who will win from both sport varieties before we even think to look at the performance times

What would happen if you did a 2 fast 2 furious pink slip style race? Race to a barrel and come back. Test braking, cornering and no launch control.

Pretty sure the slowest production BEV is just as fast or faster than the fastest production FCEV. The fastest BEV would finish a drag race in at least half the time it would take an FCEV.

Also there's a LOT more wind drag on the Y than the Vette. If the Y was lowered it would help quite a bit.

Tesla drag coefficient is at .23 which is pretty good. Those 21 inch boat anchors don’t help in the acceleration department! My 2021 Y performance came with those 21 inch boat anchors. Elon put them on the car for looks not performance!

Imagine what a Model S would do to it, even the non-plaid. This is why Electric is here to stay and obviously Tesla leading the way.

@Dale Walker $79k base model how much does yours cost? 0-60 3.1 and 412 miles range and most aerodynamic car in the world. Plaid version for $120k nicely equipped did Laguna Secs in 1:30. Oh ya no pollution, no trip to gas station and no oil changes, tuneups, O2 Sensor failures, valve jobs, timing chain or water pumps.

Love that new Corvette. I have a Model Y and it's great fun mixed with practicality. Wish I had space in the garage for the Corvette fun toy.

Edmunds test track looks an awful lot like the a certain car brands facility

Funny thing watching the Z51 C8 and driving one on California 91 octane at Ron Fellows corvette driving School near Los Vegas at 2,690 feet above sea level my C8 Stingray without Z51 and on 93 octane has significantly more power and pulls stronger then the popular Z51 option on 91. I am operating at about 1,100 ft above sea level and definitely don’t miss the 5 horse power or the parts warehouse you carry around in a Z51! Anyone else had an opportunity compare the two very different version of the C8? I know now that in 2021 the Z51 option makes you about $5,000.00 lighter and the Stingray at a top speed of 194 mph is about 10 mph faster then a Z51, other then looking really sharp I don’t see the advantage! I don’t need two sets of wheels and tires to drive my C8 on wet or icy winter roads either!

So y’all got about the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times out of the Corvette as the Model 3 Performance

Kind of feel like there was a sandbagging

Mentioned in the video, but I really would have liked to see a 'stoplight' race. The Corvette in Sport mode, no automated launch control, and the Y just as it was. I think the Y would embarrass it off the line with the all-wheel-drive and instant torque, while the Vette struggled with traction.

Do Model S Plaid or Plaid+ vs C8 next. S Plaid is shipping very soon which es good.

I can see either comparing a 3 or an S performance to the C8 if you squint a little on either end (the 3 is way less, the S is considerably more), but not the Roadster. That comparison just doesn't make sense. It costs more than double and doesn't exist yet.

Why not against a Model 3 Performance? Model Y seems like an odd choice as it is a crossover

Try that same race with the E-Ray C8 and the same model Y and see if it is that close.

@@brois841 I’ll do you one better. Any car against the next roadster. The corvette barely won against a much heavier small family electric SUV. So to make GM fans feel more secure about themselves is to pit an even more powerful corvette against the same SUV? How about just bring the right Tesla that is more comparable to the corvette in the video. Such as the Model 3 performance with performance upgrades. Closer to same size, weight, and performance as the corvette.

They might sell you guys a 2020 Corvette at MSRP, but good luck for anyone else getting it for MSRP. Lotos of them are being sold for $110 - 120K.

MSRP is just a suggestion. Dealerships don’t go by MSRP. To them, that’s the baseline price. For hot sellers, they will max out their profits. This has been the story for decades. Dealerships scalping Hellcats got into trouble auctioning their one Hellcat per month allotment to the highest bidder.

I'm an EV guy but man that Corvette is absolutely beautiful. I've always had a thing for them since I was a kid. I'll admit it's sad to say goodbye to the roar of the engine!

I don't think they have one. Also that versioning was phased out in 2019.
