I'm on a department in Colorado, I've also worked with a ton of pumps in the oil fields. When we go to pull a prime or draft we are typically in a pinch for water. If you don't have enough water in your tank use the pump to tank valve instead of the blitzfire. Air entrainment concepts will help a lot when pulling a prime.

Another way to draft, depending on the plumbing on your engine; you can open your tank to pump as well as your tank fill and increase the RPM, then slowly open the MIV,

I second your statement. Establish circulation then open the miv slowly.

If the cell phone had recorded showing the instruments panel, had been a lot clearer. But nice trick.
