DraftBeat The Miami Heat Second Round Pick

Спорт

Franky, Jack Alfonso, Coach Lu and Giancarlo join to talk:
• The guys recap all the heat moves
• Jack (a Kel'El Ware Stan) loves the big guy at 15
• Pelle Larsson (and cash!) At 44. Lu is obsessed.
• Keshad Johnson on a two way brings athleticism and versatility.

Before I continue on with Saucy, Franky and Kel'el enthusiast Jack, I have to say it feels like the draft, draft, draft, draft, draft. First round Ware, second Larrson, 2 way contracts with Keshan and Zyon. Larrson first time a pleasant surprise. 3 oompa loompas (Pritchard, McConnell, Kolek) going to haunt the Heat for years to come. The 4 we got however are solid and will help Jimmy, Bam, Jaime and Jovic. It feels like the... free agency? ✌️

My reaction to drafting Ware was the same as y'all's... but then, like y'all, I watched some highlights and thought, well, he's not BAD... but then, watched a "scouting" hatchet piece that turned out to highlight only lowlights, and thought, he IS bad, and lazy... but then saw his steller combine numbers, which were a lot better than the other first round centers... and then watched a whole game on KZread, their second against Purdue, and could see that he held his own against Zach Edy better than Klingon did, and WITHOUT Edy managing to out-leverage or outwork him, despite those being Edy's strong (indeed) suits. I would be bummed about the fact that he will already be 21 this year, and so may not put on the additional twenty pounds it could be assumed that he needs... but, he didn't need it to guard Edy one on one, and, though he got in some foul trouble like Klingon, he kept Edy's field goal percentage a lot lower than Klingon did. I'd rather have Edy with Bam, ideally... but, though I actually like Edy's defense, and he tested better at the combine than Klingon and even Tsar, Ware tested MUCH better... and, this can actually be seen in greater mobility, whereas, I think Klingon's is mythical. Plus, the Heat literally could not have AFFORDED to draft Edy where he was taken... although I (and no doubt Lebron and Bradley Beal) think it was wise of Memphis to do so. But I'm glad they didn't get Klingon at 15.

I wish we kept Nikola but for cash considerations and go still get Keshad Johnson, I’ll take it.

Larsson isn’t playing this year unless we trade a bunch of depth away or there are injuries Ware will be in the rotation on day 1

I'm lowkey hyped for Keshad Johnson, he's starting from a good place with the switchable defense, but his cutting and mostly his vert interests me. If he can use that standing vert and his size and wingspan to be a rebound monster, like a fucked up hybrid of Josh hart and Obi Toppin and if we're lucky some Aaron Gordon, then that's a potentially very valuable role player sucking up offensive and defensive boards, even better if he can hit 1 or 2 threes per game.

He should try a fade away free throw.

Anyone that mentions Trae Young is cool with not winning a championship… that guy is the definition of a regular season player who can’t survive the playoffs It’s the most shocking thing coming from a supposed “Heat Fan”. How are you going to forget 2022?! Or any playoff except the Sixers usual meltdown

He's a poor man's Curry with way less defense and Curry isn't even good in that department. Gabe Vincent looked like an all time defender against him and where is Gabe now?
