Drab Majesty - "Cold Souls" (Official Audio)

From 'The Demonstration': www.daisrecords.com/products/...
More from Drab Majesty: found.ee/drabmajesty
Deb Demure’s powerful presence and hypnotic sound has firmly defined the identity of Drab Majesty. After releasing the debut album, Careless, Drab Majesty split time between touring and studios, piecing together the ideas for the follow-up album, "The Demonstration", an album depicting Deb Demure as only one part of Drab Majesty's overall being and storytelling saga.
Starting off with the instrumental "Induction", Drab Majesty sets up an ethereal backdrop for which the rest of the album follows. Tracks such as “Dot In The Sky” and “39 By Design” (a song pointing to the doomsday Heaven's Gate cult) use lush, shoegaze approach to portray the fragility of humanity's loss of self, looking only to the heavens for answers. "Cold Souls" flawlessly executes Drab Majesty's arpeggiated finger picking signature, complete with washes of hazy noise and atmospheric reverb. With the addition of Mona D. to Drab Majesty's mysterious portfolio, songs from The Demonstration perpetually create new meanings and depth with every listen. After Drab Majesty wraps up The Demonstration with "Behind The Wall", one is left wondering what kind of identity is truly their own.
Produced by Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv.

Drab majesty with headphones 🎧 is euphoric. I'm not sure what it is about this song but when I listen to it with headphones on it brings tears to my eyes. I'm not sad or anything it just pulls emotions out of me from somewhere deep I guess.

If anyone had told me ― "In the future there's going to be a boy named Deb, who was inspired by the spirit of the 80's, but grasped the interpretation of our hearts with a new nuanced goffered sensibility and who could cascade and echo his guitar's almost, as well as Robin Guthrie". I'd have just scoffed in some sarcastic dismissal and say: "There's no fu*king way that will ever happen ― At least, not in my lifetime". Nevertheless, as surreal as it may sound it's almost, as if Robin Guthrie and Elizabeth Fraser had birthed 'fraternal twin boys' ― Musical prodigies out of musical prodigies, who's music would bring people from all the different generations, multiple nationalities, enlightened individuals all stitched together and those same people would unify out of shear musical ecstasy. Planet Earth needed this so badly, but it's as if a great flood of sound, washed away some of its many sorrows and misery. This makes me feel like a teenager again, holding onto my greatest love's hand and stroll through the Giant Redwoods of Northern California, as the late afternoon fog begins to creep inland. We're like a new counter-culture ― Whom the conservative elitists will often fear and loathe 'The Independent Thinker's' ....!!!!

@@glomerol8300 Sure, I heard all that nonsense. Please, be your own advocate and don't trust some of the "buffoons", that act like they know it all, while misspelling words and have no punctuation (that's my litmus test of others). Liz Fraser has real lyrics, because I have them; however, yes the lyrics only make "true sense" to herself. I would direct you toward - "TR/ST" with Robert Alfons, his voice is amazing and highly complex. Alfons lyrics will twist your mind, in a good way. Just so everyone knows, (as a statement of principal) I've refused to stay in a time-warp-bubble continually replaying; Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen - going on endlessly. I've made sure to keep up, with all the current music. Thank you, Glomerol for you statement - I appreciate it.

@@someguy782 When a member of the original 'Cocteau Twins Forum' died, someone found the lyrics codex and now they're all over the place on different sites, among other peoples guesses on lyrics websites, but to say there in one place, no there isn't such a place. Elizabeth never intended for them to be released to the public, because they really are about the abuses she suffered from her teenage years and throughout her marriage to Robin Guthrie. Knowing the lyrics can be a mistake for most people, because it's like solving a mystery ― Once you know what they are then the mystic wares off. I tell people to make your own lyrics as Elizabeth had intended, because we all have our own interpretation. Even Robin and Simon have admitted to having their own version of the lyrics and in many cases they both helped Elizabeth write many songs. Even though I know them, I have my own lyrics from way back when I was 12 years old and onward, when the Cocteau Twins members were teenagers themselves. "A Kissed Out Red Floatboat" is one song where I have to rely on my own interpretation, otherwise it can be a complete downer. Sorry for such a long response to a simple question, but no the 'Kabbal of Cocteau Twins Super-fans' aren't some secret organization, we are just difficult to find here on KZread. After over 40+ years, I'm probably the most outspoken member of the original Cocteau Twins Forum, but I'll try to answer any questions people may have. We were just a group who were fanatical about the mystery of Cocteau Twins music, but we are all older now and it's sad to see ourselves keep passing away, like my buddy "Shum" (who was really named David Shummer) who decided to make videos for every song on KZread and even some very rare music discoveries. Don't try to find answers on the Internet ― That's like going to WebMD to diagnose a Spring allergy. I just tell people to just ask me.

When you walked away at dawn I heard your song And now it's on my mind Made a design on the right side of my heart It may be wrong But it wasn't black or white Wondering when I look at your life if I caught you dead and numb If you were only just a dreamer If we were all night When you were dead I took you by your limb When you were dead I took you by your limb What a wasted ode to hope My heart is on the line Staring at the time And I gazed amazed While a quiet storm was born inside your eyes All dressed in black and white Wondering when I look at your life if I caught you dead and numb Thought you were only just a shadow But you were all light When you were dead I took you by your limb When you were dead I took you by your limb When you were dead I took you by your limb When you were dead I took you by your limb
