I am 25 and I am really interested in experimenting with actives, specifically Retinol and Niacinimide. I’ve done a decent amount of research and I think those would be the most effective for my skin. I was planning on going to Sephora and getting some expensive serums but I saw this at Walmart and I sort of impulsively bought it lol. It definitely makes my skin a little drier, so far I only use it at night and every other day. After watching this video though I know I used WAYYY too much lol 😂 But at least I know it’ll last me longer, now. I agree, the texture is AWFUL lol. I am interested to see how it changes my skin over time, especially when it comes to acne breakouts. Thanks for the informational review!

I had a look at the ingredients list. Ethylhexylglycerin is usually added at 0.1% as part of a paired preservative system with Phenoxyethanol which is typically added at 0.9%. The retinol is immediately before the ethylhexylglycerin. Tocopherol is rarely above 0.5% and in this product I think it’s less. So if you reverse engineered this product, you’d probably start with retinol at 0.2%. By the time it converts to retinoic acid, the amount would be lower and that’s ok in this type of product, typical of non-disclosure of ingredient product type.

I really liked the resurfacing cerave retinol and I really like how it feels on my skin. I think i might just stick with the resurfacing one instead of the skin renewal one.

I’m now using Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Max at night after watching your video. So far I like it. Thank you for your expertise on these products. Several years ago, my plastic surgeon recommended that I use a Buff Puff on my face (mainly due to blackheads on my nose). Hi Dr. Sugai !! You are one of my favorite derms. Is it ok as a 20 year old to be using the cerave anti aging serum? Or am I too young?

I remember using differin gel not sure if that is comparable to a retonoid. However I got a perm and received major burns to my scalp so will be super careful with this even though its a retionol

There are literally thousands of OTC products from moisturizers, wrinkle reducers to dark spot creams. I could go on and on. What products should I really be using on a daily basis? Naturally if I don’t have dark spots I’m not going to buy something specifically made for dark spots. I just want smooth glowing skin without the dark circles and wrinkles under my eyes. I’m a white 56 year old female with no skin issues. I’m really loving your channel so could you recommend your absolute number 1 moisturizer, dark circle cream and eye wrinkle cream? Hello, Dr. Sungai! What are your true thoughts on hyaluronic acid? Is it even worth the money? Even in products that say 100% pure hyaluronic acid, you are most likely receiving it in its salt form, sodium hyaluronate. From what I understand, even after being broken down, hyaluronic acid isn’t easily absorbed into the skin and most of it just sits right on top or just under the skin and never reaches the dermis where we produce our own HA. I’ve heard that in certain environments where there isn’t much moisture in the air, and since this acid wants to pull moisture from somewhere, it starts to pull it from our own skin and dries us out worse in the long run. This has all left me so confused.

Which is the best retinol serum to use for people that's been using them

After watching you, I have started using olay retinol. Because its good for beginners and its easily available in my country. So far its good and not greasy. I'm currently using a soap with Kojic acid + tranexamic acid its from BELO essentials from the phi Philippines I don't peel from it I'm using it not for whitening as what it's intended for but I use for breakouts/acne problems it's actually the only face soap that works for me. I can't afford all these expensive creams but I do have crevices on the sides of my mouth are those smile lines and I do have some lip lines above my upper lip what would you suggest

I've been using the Resurfacing one for about a month and am REALLY liking it. I'm in my mid-40's and I have sensitive skin and rosacea so I did learn that i had to space out treatment to every second or third day to start rather than every day because it did make spots on my face very sensitive when I started using it. But now my skin seems to have adjusted and I really like how my skin feels in the morning after I use it. Looking forward to see how I feel about it in another couple of months.

The purple is anti-aging and the blue is for smoothing post acne marks.

Both are used for anti-aging. The active ingredients are pretty much the same. Ive used both. I say if you have combo/oily skin then use the Resurfacing one. The purple one to me is a bit heavier. I like the resurfacing one myself but both are wonderful.

How to use this product with other night routine products?

Hi from northern California! I'm currently using Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair every evening (just watched the comparison video with Olay, trying that one next!) and my question is, when do I apply a serum? Do I use it instead of the retinol cream? Alternate them? There's so many products out there it's confusing! 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks!

Serum and cream works the same, but most common they use serum

Can you Recommend something for pigmentation?

I feel like the renewing variant is geared more towards anti-aging and the resurfacing more towards evening out the skin. Even on the website they don't mention anti aging as a benefit for some reason. Could the retinol concentration differ?

Should this be used during night time or day time? And should it be used before or after applying moisturizer?

What is the thinking behind companies not disclosing the percentage of retinol in their products, seems like this could be a sticking point for some customers?

Has anyone had their face take on a yellow tinge? I am very fair with reddish undertones until recently. If it was my liver, I think it would be everywhere.

I used L’Oréal retinol . Why is it even though I never used it in my neck . My neck would become itchy two days after use and become red if I touch it. I understand what you said with baby skin . I could not touch my face even though it did not itch but it would tear

Female here but after about a month of watching a lot of these my guess is to use it at night and only on the upper cheek and forehead. I say that because I hear not to put on skin the same day you exfoliate or pluck hairs.

I’m not an expert but I personally use this product at night after washing my face and applying a hydrating toner, then I apply my normal night time moisturizer on top of it. Hope this helps!
