It was a group of kodavas who saved the utsava vigraha of Lord Ranganatha. The lord was out of srirangam for 48 years. It was in tirupathi forests when the last 2 kodavas gave up their life in penance and starvation. This is chronicled in madura vijayam. Kodavas were Lord's (vigraha) body guard. Their sacrifice is remembered even now when the sri vaishnavites pray daily seeking their sathgati. J.krishnamohan

They are very rich coffee planters in kodagu. Only to get tribal benefits they orgue. 2ndly if u go through history, they sidelined with British for benefits & got there estates as reward for sidelining with them. U can't get an name of kodava hanged / killed for independence fight. But in mean time u get lot of kodagu arebashe gowda hanged,& killed by British people. Yes I agree General cariappa & General Thimmaiah served india vert honestly & done there role as Generals. But the beauty is this 2 were recruited in British rule, served British army, after independence / portion, they often indian army service. 3rdly, not only kodavas, the same kodagu Arebashe Gowdas also have jumma land, & earlier they were exempted from arms license & even today all possessing arms. But this clever people dividing within the district. ( Divide & rule & sidelining with powerful)

U know as on today coffee rates are in sky high ( almost 3 times compare to 2021 & early 2022 rate). Only the small district with very less population, only 2 mla, u can see lot of car showroom, malls almost in hobli / village level. & leaving luxury life. No kodagu locals aes available / working in agriculture fields/ estate. Now a days wherever in kodagu, especially ù go on sandy days, u can see only bengali, Assamese speaking people, came to work in estate. & no doubt, they tell Assamese, & bengali, infact they are all Muslim/ rohingya, talking in both language. Again being bjp bastion, all know, the truth, but bciz of labour shortage, they kept quiet. Here congress talking / manifesto says, that they pay daily wage of ₹ 400 under mnrgea. But in kodagu the rate of daily wage is varying from ₹ 600 to ₹ 1200, again working hrs reduced to 9 30 to 3 30. Including 2 tea brak of 30 Mon, & lunch break of one hr. . So actual working is only 4hrs / day. Again like software industry in major city, they should be picked / dropped at door step. ( But government says no job, but in kodagu outsiders are coming for work).

First of all , kodavas are the original inhabitants of Kodagu and we worship our ancestors and Nature, Goddess Kaveri and our ancestors were hunters and gatherer, and we have clans system in our wedding there is no priest or any Hindu rituals followed, we have our own unique rituals, the gun is used only for ritual purposes, as a kodava , seeing the dwindling population of the kodavas getting the Schedule Tribe status is good for the community, in Karnataka caste like Lingayat which is in majority in number when they can get obc and ST status why can’t the kodavas who are the lest minority community in Karnataka, and we neither have the number or the political power that the other community enjoys in this state, so what Dr Subramanian Swamy is doing we welcome it .

The Kodavas are north indian settlers in Kannada land. They escaped islamic butchery and hid in the dense hills of Karnataka. The british favoured them because of their fair skin and they became powerful like the Parsis. On an average they are 20 times richer than an average Kannada. Subramaniam Swami is wrong in getting them categorised as tribals...just because they hid in forests. By that yardstick..all existing Hindus are tribals...because we are all alive because our ancestors hid in the forests to escape islamic marauders.
