The anime is too dang slow for me. The reveal of the devices turns out to be a big let down story wise. It just feels underbaked.

Slight spoiler. It was saying "why" because it was saying "why do you want to die?" Because they were turned into stone by {things} who basically knew turning humans into stone made them not die.

(spoiler) I think I now who is the WHY men : its a robot built by senku when he was younger. The robot could have erased the mind of senku so he doesnt remember him. And it would explain : why the WHY man can live on the moon, why the technology of the pertrier was unknow (creat by the robot) and why the WHY man petrified everyone (same goal than terminator but its not kill so its better)
