Yes, I get that too. However, we're all a little impatient these days, don't you think? I have confidence they will get around to it, but meanwhile, man's doing a job, a very time and energy absorbing one, let's set a pheasible date for it, soon, but not necessarily yesterday, like many people seem to be alleging. Living in Spain, we have a common phrase here which translates into English as - "Get dressed slowly, you are in a rush". Keep Calm and Carry On is what we'd say in native England. The more the urgency, the more care should be taken to do things right, not rush, and make the common mistakes that rushing brings.

I don't disagree with the comments by Maria, but with all due respect, this is not about how Joe Biden compares with Donald Trump, but rather about whether voters have confidence that Joe Biden is the best Democratic candidate. People keep forgetting that our country is 248 years old, and way back then it never would have occurred to the founders to set an age limit. People died at much younger ages from a variety of illnesses as well as environmental conditions and other circumstances. Ben Franklin would have been the first to take in new information in 2024 and put the cap at 70 or 72.

It may or may not be temporary which can be co grilled and does not make a person disabled at that degree. He was way too old and should have stepped down a long time ago.

He should take a cognitive test, but so should Trump---and not by their personal doctors, but by independent doctors/ neurologists, by the same and at the same time. Yes a cognitive test is a great idea. It was important for my father to see the results in real time right in front of his face. Once the reality set in, he gave up his car keys and I took the fuses out of his stove and disconnected his microwave so he wouldn't hurt himself. He lived independently in an apartment for a few years with my help and PSW's helping after that. But most importantly, he didn't hurt anyone else!!!!

Who gave Trump the cognitive test and who scored them? DT bird walks all over the place. We do not know if he was prepped or given the answers ahead of time. There are numerous issues-metabolic, hormonal, heavy metal toxins, low oxygen, infection, cardiovascular, etc.-that could be causing symptoms, many of which have relatively simple treatments. Regardless of age, these conditions can present themselves, although they are more common over the age of 40 or 50, and sometimes even younger. Automatically labeling someone as "incompetent or senile" or worse on some networks is unjustifiable without proper facts. It's essential to get the facts first, then address the issue with the hope of finding a resolution. My mentor was 85 years old. He spoke a bit slower and moved carefully, but he had one of the sharpest minds when it came to writing or teaching. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) that President Trump has referenced includes around 11 simple exercises, such as drawing a clock, recalling animal names, and knowing the day of the week. It is a basic tool to assess cognitive decline, such as that seen in Alzheimer's disease. Diagnosing someone's cognitive abilities based on one or two video clips is wildly inappropriate. Accurate diagnosis requires numerous appointments, medical testing, and importantly input from family and close associates who observe an individual 24/7.

I am young and I have ADHD and therefore I lack short term memory. If the test is timed, I would fail it. I wouldn't get points for the words. I also, in my daily life, have difficulty retrieving words. Somedays, my speech is slurred and it's hard for me to vocalize. However, I have an excellent ability to comprehend and create intertwined systems and assign tasks to achieve goals. I also have a good emotional intelligence, and I can quickly reshuffle assignments/staff if I perceive they may be causing burnout and thus affecting productivity, this allows me to keep my staff motivated and engaged. I have a directorial position. The irony is that my lack of executive function (which is an area of cognition) would make me a subpar worker, but doesn't interfere in my ability to manage a company because my staff is in charge of the more executive function heavy tasks, while I am in charge of the more abstract, big picture ideas, which they struggle with. I think these cognitive tests fail to represent the variety of brains, the different ways we think, and how those can be helpful for different jobs. A lot of politicians, leaders, have "neurodivergent" brains which allows them to think the impossible. Let's acknowledge that and remember that the reason why these cognitive tests aren't routinely taken is that they are inherently flawed.

Fdp pet scan for Alzheimer’s and the list is endless. There are a plethora neurology tests done on the spot that can test short and long term memory, executive functions , etc… We should be aiming for transparency.

The presence is predictive of developing Alzheimers in the future, but when that will happen is not known, he could live until age 100 and die before he develops Alzheimers, but if the imaging is done and published the public would immediately assume he has Alzheimers. These types of evaluations are very nuanced and need to be interpreted in conjunction with many other factors. You can't just publish a chart and let uninformed people decide for themselves. The cognitive symptoms Biden shows are normal and gradually show for people starting at age 30: slowness in thinking and difficulties sustaining attention, multitasking, holding information in mind, and word-finding. Recession didn't happen, deposits were guaranteed. - Nuclear deal with Australia: News said Biden was sloppy, on the verge of war with France, called Macron and fixed it within 48h and every NATO country increased their spending in NATO. and more, and more, and more... This is a very effective presidency that operates a lot under the radar. We've had 3.5 boring years, without scandals, so everything is becoming news in this need for drama. But no one is talking about Trump's 90 minute lies during the debate. Biden is old, is tired, and his quirks, from his wacky trains of thoughts to his stutter to his difficulty recalling words are more difficult for him to maneuver quickly with age, but they aren't new. He knows politics better than any politician in the US, can get legislation passed, can get international cooperation, can get investments, can boost the economy. The FED estimated unemployment at 4.6% in 2023, it was 3.75%, the FED estimated GDP growth for 2023 to be 0.5%, it actually was 3.7%. Biden is running because he knows he can deliver in the executive, as he has been delivering, but I think he's under a lot of pressure and, frankly, nervous, with a million eyes looking at his every move (Omg he shook a little!! He must have Parkinson!!) and I do think with age he is not able to manage his stage presence the way he used to. But that is not a cognitive impairment, it's simply being old. Both should have rigorous and full testing by Reputable physicians (NOT Ronnie Jackson or Johnson, if you are talking to Trump). Just to get answers in both, that hopefully are reliable. Frankly, other than the debate, I haven't seen anything really concerning in Biden, I have seen a great deal concerning in Trump, other than his dangerous and violent rhetoric. But Biden's performance in the debate was concerning. It could be chalked up to any number of things, other than cognitive issues, but it would be good to know from doctors. He could clear that up with a thorough check up. We know that Trump never will, because he is frankly, not sane in addition to cognitive issues. All you have to do is listen to any interview he has given in the past year.

It's horrible that they are conflating a complete physical check-up with a cognitive exam for Alzheimer's/ dementia, saying he is in perfect health but doesn't need a Montreal Cognitive assessment. My father was a lawyer forced to undergo a medical evaluation by the Law Society. As it turns out, he did have Alzheimer's, and his license to practice was revoked immediately. Indeed, we can ask our leaders the same questions for the most critical job in the United States. As Dr Gupta points out, strong indicators indicate the need for this testing as soon as possible. They are testing for everything but this. Democrats should not rally around the president to make a protective shield. If he does have this condition, there is no shame in it. Lots of elderly people suffer from this condition, unfortunately. If he needs to be replaced, voters will be relieved that the proper steps were taken. But to suggest, "Keep going; it's a better alternative to Trump," as the reporter did, is infuriating. Or "Let's see how he does on the campaign trail in the next few weeks." Come on. All Americans should demand these tests now-not to see if he should run again but to see if he should be in the White House for the next six months.

What did he lie about?

It doesn't matter if the rest of us are demanding it. The fact that a news station correspondent can "call on" a sitting President to do _anything_ with a serious degree of expectation should tell you that station is corrupt as all hell.

There were 2 people on the debate stage, not 1. I watch Donald Trump on tv every day. He can't remember people's names, he doesn't know where he is, he rambles constantly, he can't finish a sentence, he loses his train of thought, he talks at great length about irrelevant topics likes sharks and being electrocuted in the water. He is in desperate need of cognitive testing, and not by his old pal, Dr. Ronny "Johnson". So, what's up with CNN? Apparently new ownership has changed their mission. I felt sad and sorry for Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. I held them in high esteem, but they traded their integrity for a paycheck. It sounds like Dr. Gupta joined them.

And during those 3.5 years, he has lowered the unemployment numbers, inflation is the lowest compared to other countries, the stock market is booming, new legislation for climate, infrastructure and manufacturing of microchips were put in place, student debt for thousands was forgiven, Medicare is able to negotiate with Pharma for some medications, and the list goes on and one. Guess what? He has never once told people to inject themselves with bleach or take horse worming pills. It's been pretty good so far.

Just because someone is old doesn't mean they are invalid. I had, for example, a great Uncle who was still deer hunting and climbing up into his tree stand at the age of 95. He walked about a mile, round trip, every day with a 5 gallon bucket of pig feed in each hand. He basically never experienced mental decline at all until his death from pneumonia. He may have been an outlier at that age but it does go to show that age doesn't always mean invalid past a certain number. I'm definitely not saying Biden is on that kind of cognitive level or physical level btw, he should not only drop out of the race but he should be removed from office using the 25th Amendment, if possible.

@@nunyabidnez5857 I"m saying we need new fresh minds running our country that are up to date and more modern than other countries. We look and sound old. Obviously. And that is a huge weakness in the eyes of these upcoming Eastern counties. We are running behind. I lived in Asia for the past 10 years, and the US looks pretty damn slow.

@@themichael3105 oh I most certainly agree with the overall statement there. I just felt the need to point out that it's not always about age, but generally it is. I'm always shocked by the very fact we don't look around the world and pick the best ideas to implement for ourselves because that's exactly what most Asian countries are doing. We invent it, they implement it more widely and a more rapid pace. It's strange but you're correct.

I have been a follower of Sanjay since he first showed up on scene. I am bitterly disappointed in him today. He is a physician. It goes beyond the integrity of a physician to go on national TV and call for medical testing for anyone. If anyone else at CNN had suggested it, I could have supported it. But now Sanjay is getting on the CNN bandwagon of taking Biden to task? Does he think that's a good legacy for him? Further, Trump says bat shit crazy things all the time. Did Sanjay ask for him to test? No. He didn't. Very disappointed in him.
