Dr. Robert Stadler - The Stairway to Life

Dr. Stadler is a co-author of the book "The Stairway To Life: An Origin-Of-Life Reality Check". In this talk he looks at the overwhelming obstacles preventing non-life from ever by chance forming a self-reproducing living organism.

Beautiful! Such remarkable engineering and functional complexity in life. Woe to the deniers, who see the obvious, yet disbelieve due to their arrogance. Their hearts are dead, and only seek the pleasures of this transient world. They'll be the losers in the Hereafter which they deny. All praise belongs to the Creator. We can't thank Him enough. He is as He described Himself.

No you wouldn't. For the same reason a crackhead won't quit smoking crack even after he sees his crackhead friend overdose and die on crack. Edit... Because he doesn't WANT to give up crack. So he convinces himself that despite all the evidence he still believes crack can't be all that bad and is actually good for him.

Seriously ? If I was a christian I would start wondering why an ancient anthology is used for curing diseases or describing things that didn't happen, based on reality, and dismissing a process that make our world better. Sad, sad, sad.

@@paulhaynes3688 I think if we don’t discover traces of life on Mars it will mean life starting up on its own will be less likely. The problem is science books for schools explicitly states life originated by the interactions of lightning various organic molecules in a primordial soup….rather than some scientists believe this is how life originated.

Of course you don't address the points made by Dr Stadler. What did I expect from an atheist? Please listen to the lecture and the 14 part series by Dr James Tour regarding abiogenesis with an open mind.

@@pigzcanfly444 Their 'points' are not based on sound science. Furthermore, evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life (abiogenesis). Tour often mixes them up because he knows his audience is uninformed and too lazy to so some research for themselves. If they think they have solid evidence that disproves evolution, then they should write a paper and publish it. They never did and the reason is clear: they know they will be exposed in peer to peer reviews ... by real biologists (Tour is an organic chemist not a biologist let alone an evolutionary biologist). Consider this. If these couple of 'scientists' would present actual evidence against evolution ... don't you think they would have won the Nobel Prize already? How come tens of thousands of real biologists state 'evolution is a fact' and 'it is based on solid evidence'? Creationists are trying since the eighties to push through their views ... and they fail miserably. Because it's not science based and lacks any evidence.

@@lizadowning4389 firstly if you're an atheist which appears to be the way you present yourself then you cannot separate abiogenesis from evolution because it is just a step in the process. Secondly there are actually several atheists that turned Christian from their research in molecular biology and chemistry, particularly biochemistry. Rob Stadler and Change Tan are two great examples of such. Both PhDs with many years of tenure and patents for their work. If you say that nothing that they say is found3d in science then you are cheating yourself from an opportunity to learn from very astute people who came to their conclusions through very thorough vetting of the requirements for life to spontaneously generate. Their book "Stairway to Life: An abiogenesis reality check" sets the record straight and shows that its much more like a cliff than a staircase but I digress. Hold to your beliefs as you like but you are doing that to the contrary of the evidence.

@@lizadowning4389 oh and one more thing that I forgot to let you know about. The TmRoyal society has had a 10 million dollar reward in place for almost a decade for anyone that can truly show a plausibly natural pathway for life to form from inanimate matter. There is a second reward for anyone that can explain the formation of information and systems that we see in biology through just purely natural processes. If you look into it you will see that no one has collected on that cash bounty. I wonder why? 🤔
