Dr Pratik Das Talks about World Kidney Day 2023 & 2 Critical Cases of Kidney Disease

Every year the second Thursday of March is observed as World Kidney Day. This year's theme is Kidney Health for All- Preparing for the Unexpected and Protecting the Vulnerable. Dr Pratik Das, Senior Consultant- Adult kidney transplant, Nephrology at RN Tagore Hospital, Kolkata, talks about his two patients on this theme.
Case 1:
A young college student visited a blood donation camp, and after running routine tests, she was asked to consult a doctor since her haemoglobin was low. Later the doctors at RN Tagore Hospital diagnosed that she was suffering form chronic kidney disease due to which her haemoglobin count went down to 5. She underwent a kidney transplant surgery, and her mother donated the organ. After a year and a half, she fell sick again and needed another transplant. Currently, she is doing well.
Case 2:
A 3-month pregnant woman was severely ill. Later doctors ruled out the cause since her creatinine level was 7. Due to her pregnancy, she could not undergo dialysis or take antibiotics. However, the doctors gave her pregnancy-safe medications and she was cured in 7 days. She is continuing the pregnancy, there are no complications, and the fetus is unharmed.
Aged people, small children and expecting mothers are vulnerable to kidney ailments.

Don't go to him, usually he see the patients from 10pm night upto 4am morning,it's a time to see the kidney patients,only deals with Bangladeshi patients,not to the other patients from other states to him,not cooperating doctor,only talks slowly this much but not overall good...
