My mother was on Statins, her dose was increased. She's elderly. Her memory got progressively worse. "Dementia is normal" "Memory loss is normal" etc etc. She was about to be put in an assisted living facility. She couldn't remember the basics. I read about Statins and memory, and the fact that cholestrol is an essential building block in memory. I stopped her Statin medication. Her memory returned comletely in 8 days. It was a miracle. NO STATINS

I far as I know statins are bloodthinners? The "take an asprin/disprin (bloodthinner) a day for health" is also odd; disprin brings the temperature down, so if your temperature is already low, you can walk straight into trouble taking temperature lowering medication, surely. The awful thing is that if you've been on disprin for a while, as soon as you stop your blood goes into clotting overdrive, apparently. Perhaps it's wise to take your temperature for a while before taking temperature lowering medication. IMO, one-size-fits-all medical advice is often dangerous advice!

I received exactly the “how dare you?“ Objection from my doctor. It is clear that many doctors have become incurious, unconcerned prescriptionists. They have seven minutes with you and are anxious to get you out of the office so they can get the next patient in. Many of them don’t seem to have read anything or tried to research anything after they got out of medical school, which for many is decades. This means they have no new information other than what their drug representative is pushing to them. Medicine has changed drastically since I was younger. It is horrifying to me. Doctors have become an extension of the drug companies, not healers.

It's due to the medical profession's protocol of Standard of Care (SoC). When a Dr keeps his/her prescription within the SoC, he/she is professionally and effectively waived from liability should something subsequently go wrong with the patient for following the Dr's prescription. But if/where the SoC isn't followed, and the Dr prescribes things that fall outside of the SoC, he/she stands potentially liable for any or all of the adverse effects/consequences that follow as a result of the patient's adherence to the Dr's out-of-SoC prescription.

Four years ago my wife suffered a heart attack. Rushed to the hospital, a stent was inserted and the prognosis was for full recovery. Three or so months later she began to have a very minor, almost imperceptible stutter in her speech. It worsened gradually, her care marginalized by the Covid pandemic caused condensing and reducing the availability of all but essential medical services. Thus at the beginning of 2022, she was nearly mute: she knew what she wanted to say but was simply unable to speak. A neurological exam revealed no evidence of stroke and the overarching diagnosis was "sometimes these things happen to older people". My wife, the highly educated and once extraordinarily articulate 78 year old woman was without the ability to verbally communicate. In addition, the affliction impacted some of her ability to write. She and I had a lenghty session together, trying to piece together what had happened. When the stent was inserted, the doctor prescribed two medications one of which was a statin. Neither her personal car nor her current cardiologist expressed any particular concern with the statin, but I spend a couple of hours on the Internet and easily found a relatively large Japanese study that directly established that sometimes when prescribed statin, women over 65 years of age could develop aphasia. I gave this information to my wife's cardiologist who reviewed her most recent normal blood panel and immediately ordered she cease taking the statin. This was three years following her heart episode. Two days later my wife could read a simple sentence that I wrote for her. Following that she began speech therapy although the speech therapists had never encountered this sort of issue previously. Today, my wife is beginning to speak again, although it is not a linear improvement. There are better days than others and it is very much like teaching a three or four year old to speak. Subsequently I have received additional information from others who have experienced this totally unpublished (to my knowledge) side effect of statins. Shortly after stopping the statin, my wife's cardiologist emailed me that he had recently read some information linking statin to aphasia.

I was a board certified Internal Medicine specialist in the USA. I had to retire early when I realized that allopathic medical doctors had become to a great degree simply pawns to push pharmaceuticals to end users for the benefit of pharmaceutical companies. About half of the disease burden in the USA is due to lifestyle choices and can be ameliorated by lifestyle changes. Pharmaceuticals like statins are inferior to diet changes but your family doctor does not know this because he or she is not taught this in medical school and this approach is suppressed in the medical literature.

Ive been looking after my mom for the past 11 years. She is 88 and suffers from dementia. Ive taken her to all her medical appointments. In this time and I've always had doctors wanting to prescribe medications to her after blood tests. Each time I would as the doctor ie: "She is 80 years old. What are the side effects on a person her age going to be?" Every single doctor when asked that question could not give a reasonable answer nor would make a case to take the prescription. Sadly that's what the medical profession has come to. Many doctors are incentivized to prescribe medications even to people of advanced age where the risks outweigh the benefits. My mom despite her condition is fairing well and Im betting she will reach 90 drug free.

Thank you for exposing those pharma-criminals. Through a fairly strict low carb diet, but not keto, I reversed my T2 diabetes in 5 months. I lost 10kg all up. But here is the kicker: when I started the diet my triglycerides were 7 mmol/L and total cholesterol 9.8 mmol/L! In 5 months triglycerides normalised to 1.2 mmol/L and total cholesterol dropped to 6.2 mmol/L. And if my doctor saw just how much saturated fat I ate during the process he would have been apoplectic. And he was telling me at the beginning how I can't do it without medications through diet alone. He was speechless when he saw the blood test results after 5 months.

I only eat certain vegetables like broccoli collieflour zucchini and green leafy vegies, and like I said I don't drink milk but I love cream in my coffee. After I started this I went further and started intermittant fasting, this was hard for a week or so mainly with the headaches from carb withdrawal but an electrolyte drink(no sugar) fixed that. Once the weight starts dropping off it is a lot easier as you see that it works and if you are feeling like eating in the morning just drink water, go for a walk or just keep busy and the urge will go. Another thing is I was on a statin for a year or so and was always feeling off but after watching a video on the side affects I experimented but not taking them and within two days I had a new lease on life. I'm a physician and have told many colleagues my concerns with cholesterol medications over the years. A radiology tech I worked with for years heard me but never took it seriously and I didn't even know he was on cholesterol meds until after he retired. He could barely walk and though it was due to his back or hips but orthopedic surgeons repeatedly told him his hips were fine. One day he ran in to a radiologist he had worked with who told him how he almost had to quit golfing due to his pain and difficulty walking but then stopped his cholesterol meds and all those symptoms reversed. So my friend told his primary care physician he wanted to stop his cholesterol meds. His PCP then said no, wait, instead of that lets try a different cholesterol med. So he agreed and all of his symptoms got even worse but at his next appointment his cholesterol numbers were even better! So my friend on his own decided to just stop the medication without telling his doctor. And all of the pain and walking problems he had suffered with for over 5 years disappeared. No many how many people I warn, they still listen to their PCPs. Do people even realize that these doctors are penalized if they don't prescribe these cholesterol medications AND if the patient's don't fill the prescriptions?

My doctor accepts that I am not concerned about my cholesterol, and the predicted stroke hasn't yet happened, because he knows I do good research. He's now IF and low carb, because I passed on aa couple of lectures. There's no clear evidence with statins, though, so for now, my hands are tied. *THIS VIDEO IS SO IMPORTANT IT SHOULD HAVE TEN MILLION HITS, AT LEAST.* 10-years ago, my doctor prescribed me a statin drug for my high chlolesterol. Not only didn't it work, but the side effects were horrific. So I simply stopped taking them, and just started eating better. I never went back to using them, and today at the age of 74, am 100% drug-free. I think the biggest danger is the faith EVERYONE puts in their physicians. They automatically think, "He's my DOCTOR, he must know what he's doing!" NO, THEY DON'T. If people realized that the big drug companies (soulless thugs, all) actually support all of the major medical universities, and that all of the physicians have a responsibility to push their products, perhaps they would be more wary of them, but this simply isn't the case. But of ALL the drugs I've ever taken, perhaps the most dangerous of all are the common meds used to combat Acid Reflux Disease (which used be called, "Acid Indigestion"). One of most common side effects of the most popular brand is "sudden death," which was personally confirmed by my pharmacist. The second he told me that, I flushed them all down the toilet, and never looked back. On this same subject, I later learned that the drug companies simply bribed the FDA to simply LABEL IT a "disease," and they were green lighted to produce these new, highly dangerous drugs. Btw, I "cured" myself from acid reflux, just by altering my diet and eating habits, the only true path to good health.

Studying anatomy, and learning that every cell wall depends on cholesterol to perform normal cell function, made me question all of this. Being a transplant recipient, my cardiologists tried to put on me on statins, and succeeded for a brief time. Got sore muscles... Then I heard that policosanol was also effective at moderating cholesterol, at least enough to satisfy my doctors. Sadly, they don't work for everybody. Another fun fact, is that the liver makes cholesterol. So, the human body makes it naturally... Then, information coming out of Juice Plus+ studies, showed that it was oxidized cholesterol, the lipid-peroxides, are what end up sticking to the vascular walls. So, if one's diet contains plenty of anti-oxidants (fresh raw, fruits and vegetables), then one's oxidized cholesterol is drastically lowered. But, of course, most doctors never take a single course on nutrition. So naturally, many doctors ignore it as a viable possibility.

Within a week of going on statins, I suffered a sudden and precipitous drop in my testosterone. It was so obviously connected to the introduction of statins into my body, that I immediately took up the issue with my doctor. Unfortunately, although he was a family doctor, his specialty was pediatrics, and hence, he knew nothing of the connection. But when I did research on the internet, I found academic articles that verified the connection. Cholesterol is a necessary precursor toward the production of testosterone. Testosterone is hugely important...the most important male hormone, and not just regarding sex. Testosterone deficiency also leads to short term memory problems, sleeping problems, concentration problems, etc. I finally went off the statins and will never go back to them. Never!

After two weeks of taking Statins I had what my wife, who is experienced in cardiac intensive care, said it looks like you are having a massive heart attack. She called an ambulance and they took me to the hospital. Had problems during the trip as the ambulance attendees were giving me Nitro thinking it was a heart attack. that made things worse. When got to Emergency the doctors diagnosed a serious heart attack and they sent me to a room for treatment. Then two cardiac specialist's came in and declared I had a massive heart attack and they were going to treat me with surgery, exercise and diet. So we waited for the blood tests to confirm the presence of troponin T in my system. The first test and all subsequent tests were all negative.and all the Doctors could sat after 4 days of tests, tread mills etc was it is not a cardiac problem. and they sent me home. Meanwhile they resumed my prescription of Statins.

Turns out I was severely allergic to statins. I disposed of all my prescriptions and went vegan for about a year which brought all my numbers into line. Got a new doctor that recognised what was going on. There was not enough build up anyplace in my body that the Doctors could definitely say there was any sign of blockage. It seems one can be significantly allergic to Statins and the professionals you may deal with, while I'm sure are highly competent in their field, may not yet recognise an allergic reaction to Statins.

My 48 YO nephew was on a prophylactic dose of a statin. He quite suddenly experienced muscle control loss. He was unable to walk and soon couldn't even sit up in bed. The first diagnosis was ALS (Lou Gherig's). Turns out it was a reaction to the statins. Stopped the statins and the decline stopped. His recovery is expected to be more than a year and he will never be 100% again.

They have lowered the “acceptable “ blood sugar “ since I was in pharmacy school 48 years ago. At that time fasting blood glucose levels of 200 or less were considered normal. Below 80, hypoglycemic. It seemed to me that that within one or two years of starting Metformin most inevitably were then put on insulin with the associated weight gain and gradually increase of dose until kidney failure etc. my glucose was high, I lost a lot of weight and glucose level is ok. I tried Atkins, Jenny Craig, and nutrisystem , all with immediate high weight loss, but immediately gained back the weight in that that these diets are almost impossible to maintain. I found my solution, 1. Eat slowly 2. Don’t keep any sweets in your house. Most people, including me are to lazy to go out and by a treat and this is enough to stop you. I do have a sweet item when I go out get a milkshake or candy bar about once a month. If a bag of cookies or half gallon of ice cream is in my house, I constantly remember that it’s is waiting for me. The stomach ,when it gets full , and feels pressure from food secretes a hormone that says “I’m full” this takes probably 20 minutes, so a fast eater can pack in more food than a slow eater. These two steps have been a solution to my weight and has lasted now, with a 2 to 4 pound loss each month, for about 3 years. Also , moderate exercise, walking, and exercise bike when not able to walk. I weigh less now at 72, than when I was 45. Try these two steps. The exercise, is not necessary for the weight loss, as I started after weight loss but is essential to better health.

Excellent presentation! I am on Statins, I have had a heart bypass, 18 months ago, I was away on a short trip a couple of months ago, I forgot my tablets and I felt better without them. The muscle fatigue in my legs was less and my memory was seemed significantly worse during the year that I have been taking them. I spoke to my doctor about this and she convinced me that I must continue, as I had already had a heart attack and surgery. This report shows the risks of heart attack prevention to be very low (see table 4 on 15.37 min), the difference between the Statin and Placebo was only around 1%. I have now changed my diet and have lost 6 kg (I have reduced my carb intake by around 90%) and I am feeling better but I could maybe feel even better without Statins? My doctor told me at the time I need to be more active, I agree but It’s very difficult when your muscles get so fatigued! I will go back to her and show her this report, I believe she has has also been duped as she is a nice person. Other people’s comments here report the same side effects as I have.

Cholesterol is a functional part of the cell membrane, the building block of all steroid hormones, and part of bile(which helps absorb fat and fat-soluble nutrients. Statins might as well be said to cause a cholesterol-deficiency. What matters is to not eat foods that react in a manner chemically that then causes harm. Thus, cut out the vegetable oils and sugary/starchy foods. Introduce vitamin K2 foods and green vegetables with K1.

It's more complicated than that. It's very convenient to float it out there, but here's the catch. Any paper that's publish has to disclose the funding source and the potential financial conflicts of all the authors. That's standard practice. Read any of these papers and you'll see the information provided for you. If not in the paper, it will be in the supplemental documentation which is often in excess of a hundred pages. You can go through all of it. It's all disclosed. If it's not disclosed and later found out, any decent journal will retract the paper. If you read the clinical guidelines, you'll see the same. The same standard applies. Cardiology is an extremely data-driven specialty. These people are meticulous. I recall this doctor mentioning that the rates of adverse effects of statins are hidden. They are not at all. They are a matter of public record in the US reported as part of the phase 2 and 3 clinical trial data, and for any drug on the market, surveillance data are recorded through an adverse event reporting system. You can look these data up for free. They're a matter of public record available on the internet at fda.gov. There is room for debate, certainly. But if you're going to make a claim of corruption, the burden of proof is on the accuser to do more than simply say "people report it makes them feel bad" and "some guys are making a lot of money." Personally, I think the benefits in the elderly are overstated, but for young people who refuse to modify their diets, statins save lives.

Thank you for putting yourself out there. Both my elderly father and I were prescribed statins. Different drs, different towns. He was deemed terminal for other health issues. He was taken off statin as no point. Three years into taking the statin he had become diabetic. No family history, ate well balanced diet, maybe 10 pounds over weight, had maybe one beer or glass of wine a week, walked outside 45 min. at least every other day. When he stopped the statin he stopped being diabetic! (He died of pneumonia at 92.) I saw that and went off my prescribed statin. My blood sugar level went down so much, the next A1C was so low dr came in and said we had to take the test again. I then told him I had quit the statin and what I saw with my Dad’s health change. He literally screamed at me! He told me “every dr in the US prescribes statins” I said “not to me” He slammed the door as he left. I canceled my next appointment and changed drs. Six years later my last A1C was 5.7. Moved, got new dr who wants me to take red yeast, when I told her I wouldn’t take the statin she tried to prescribe. Evidently it’s side effects are similar to statin. I have my doubts about her too. As this is the third prescription change she wants me to take. I checked side effects first. They will effect my diabetes blood sugar levels. There no other drs in this town. I am pleased to find your report to back me up! Thank you! Wish I had more choices. Am trying to be sensible and take care of myself. Thank you for your efforts.

Excellent exposé on statins. My former cardiologist put me on a statin drug because of an arrhythmia, which the inhaler I was using, I later found out, was known to cause, and a clumsy stress test, which I wish I'd prepared for by getting some walking exercise. My other four tests came out in the normal range. I'm eating beet borsht and using a lot of garlic (which my Mexican neighbor suggested) now, and my blood pressure and heart rate are in the normal range. I had a recent full battery of tests for which my new, more-qualified cardiologist said the results were "perfect". This is a personal testimony; I have no professional qualification.

Half of the doctors say it's psychosomatic . The other doctors are dragging their feet but slowly admitting that their is a problem. I retired 4 months after my first heart attack, was going to anyway as I was turning 65...I worked through the worst part of COVID then quit. I was a radiological technologist for surgery...one of the cardiologists was STRONGLY against statins and would tell you that he will NOT prescribe statins . But I kinda think that the more popular thought is statins on a LOW maintenance dose if you've already had a heart attack...maybe so, ., . With lifestyle changes being extremely important. , diet ,exercise, and stress control. But when statins make your hands hurt so badly, you lose a great deal of grip...what to do? My doctor is fairly good about listening to me, and we will MODIFY 50-50. HOWEVER....I will not give anything in respect to HOSPITALIST. Keep them away from me. They poke their heads in the door, introduce themselves, never ask how you are, or how things are going ..spend less than a minute with you and go to your chart and start arbitrarily changing your meds...doubling one BP med and QUADRUPLING.another BP med. My insurance flagged it and they contacted ME,saying DO NOT TAKE THAT until I talk to my Dr. HE had no idea it had been done.. Guys, be actively involved in your own care...take care and good luck.

I continue to be intimidated to go on these drugs even though my triglycerides are normal and my HDL is high and my arterial studies show very little plaque.Well now with the information contained in this video I have the dada that I need. I can’t thank you enough, and I will stay on my ketogenic lifestyle!

I was put on Lipitor in 1997. On March 28th, 2023 I stopped taking it. I had developed mild and then severe pain in my calf and hamstring in both legs. Numerous videos convinced me that Lipitor was the culprit. Two weeks have passed and the pain has disappeared. Another side effect is increased chance of diabetes. I do not smoke, drink, I eat a balanced diet, walk over 15,000 steps a day and am the same weight I was when I was 39 (I’m 62 now). My recent blood test show an increase in my blood/sugar and that has me wondering if Lipitor is a contributing factor. As many have pointed out the Doctors are pushing medications rather than addressing the real solutions. Bottom line? I refuse to take Lipitor any longer.

Thank you, great work. I was put on a statin 2 yrs ago, as a precaution, I’ve noticed memory loss, muscle aches, and fatigue.
