Also, there have been multiple Smash games with Samus and Zero Suit Samus both playable, and they are the same character.

We forgetting Dr. Luigi with this one 🗣️

This actually makes sense because usually doctors have their last name in their doctors name, ‘Dr Brooks’ for example. It has also been confirmed that mario and Luigi’s last names is actually just ‘mario’ so this theory isn’t so far fetched. My guess is that Dr Mario and Mario are identical twins, that’s why they look so alike.

With doctors, you refer to them by their surname. That means the Mario brothers' surname is Mario (common knowledge). This means Dr. Luigi is not related to the Mario Brothers because being called "Dr. Luigi" means that Luigi is his surname. The plumber Luigi has been confirmed to have the surname Mario. So there's Mario Mario and Luigi Mario.
