so frustrating that one hospital won't talk with another. my sister was diagnosed with mucinous appendiceal neoplasia stage 4, and was never told her about the HIPEC procedure available. i think it is because the hospital did not have the availability to the equipment. however, the doctor told her there was nothing more they could do after the "mother of all surgeries" was done. She was diagnosed in May 2018 and died January 2019.

sorry to hear, I had this and I went to the hospital religiously, and they refused to treat me, until I just kept going back, they kept putting me on restoralax. ( a laxative.)

@@irenemielke1713 I had it in 2014 and very lucky to have had cytoreductive/HIPEC surgery done at Mercy Medical center in Baltimore, Maryland. There are only two surgeons in the U.S. who is very familiar this. My surgery was done by Dr. Sardy (10 hours) and his wonderful team. Dr. Sardy is the younger one of the two. I think the other surgeon is also in Maryland and not sure if he has retired or not. Do not have surgery elsewhere because other doctors/surgeons are not familiar with it at all. Please go see Dr. Sardy. Not sure if you have been treated but if you did, I would greatly appreciated if you would provide the doctor's information and how you were treated. Since doctors who can treat this are so rare, let's share information on the good ones for future reference.
