Dr. Lloyd-Jones Interview with Aneirin Talfan Davies

Shortly after he stepped down from the pulpit of Westminster Chapel in 1968, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones conducted a series of television interviews. Two of these survive. This one is an interview with the famous Welsh writer and broadcaster Aneirin Talfan Davies. We do hope that you enjoy it.

I am a delivery driver and I have downloaded a thousand MLJ sermons onto my iPhone. I listen to a least one a day as I do my job. I thank God that he gave MLJ the wisdom to record his sermons. It's as if he is speaking to me every day. I have grown in wisdom and knowledge of the word. My faith used to be sketchy but I am just finishing Romans and now I know that I am saved and will be kept saved by the love, the act , the will of God - for me, a sinner. Now I know God loves me. Excellent accurate teaching is vital for everyone who believes.

Thanks for sharing! Same here, my friend. Listen to at least a sermon a day on MLJ trust at work. Words can't express how the Lord has opened my eyes through his teaching. His classic teaching on Romans, but also his sermons on Ephesians are a gold mine! God bless!!

Excellent, no compromise on the truth! I fear Dr Lloyd-Jones would be horrified at the church today.

He was horrified at the state of the church in his day, particularly those churches which embraced a false gospel.

“Do you think I came to bring peace? I tell you no but rather division” .......words of Jesus Himself! Most haven’t got a clue what the actual gospel is. But they claim Christian. Read Romans 11. That quote in verse 4 was taken from 1st Kings 19:18. At that time there were sound biblical census being taken and a close estimate at that time was 1.8 million Israelites! God says I have kept for myself 7000 men? 7000??? Even if it was women and children as well the figure may jump to 20,000? What’s the percentage? Lower than 1%!! Well now read verse 5! Please read 2nd Corinthians 13:5 and give yourselves an examination! Don’t just assume because you say.......

@@heisholy-org You do know, don't you.. that the division you quote Jesus as saying, has nothing to do with the church, which ought to be one.

Old school Preacher right there. His Britain 🇬🇧 is no longer. It is so refreshing,if not strange, to hear a British person speak about their convictions, held sincerely, and voiced firmly.

Salvation and sanctification in Christ Jesus is so deeply lavish in the depth of it's love to those who receive it, that many find it scarcely believable. Once one comes to grips with the truth of it, one can joyfully enter in with full assurance. This is how MLJ saw it and taught it. I am forever greatful for his work on Earth.

I have been so greatly blessed by his teaching sermons . He helped me see greater depth of wisdom and the riches that are in scripture . When he taught it was totally what was within scripture and not his own ideas or opinions which he rightly stated and should always be. A Blessed man of God :)

Dr Martin lloyd Jones had it absolutely right, to many have tried to get the people thinking right, without first getting their hearts right. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: it's the heart that needs changed, then the head will follow.

In less than 20 minutes MLJ demonstrates the relative poverty of too much modern Christian "belief". He also, with great economy, outlines the solution which IMHO would result in explosive UK church growth. Some words from Stuart Townend seem fitting: "So Spirit, come, put strength in every stride; Give grace for every hurdle. That we may run with faith to win the prize Of a servant good and faithful. As saints of old, still line the way, Retelling triumphs of His grace, We hear their calls, and hunger for the day When with Christ we stand in Glory."
