I have to say that, aside from a few minor liberties, this cartoon is more faithful to the original story than many live-action adaptations.

The one from the Pagemaster was the most scary one, mainly the jump scare part. This one's more tame than the Pagemaster one.

Dr. Jekyll is what we are on the outside, Mr. Hyde is what we are on the inside. For some is the opposite.

My Grandma and Grandpa went to see this movie when they were teenagers.

I just seen an old horror comic that said dr. Jekyll and mr Hyde and it unlocked this childhood memory of this movie and I just remember liking everything about it when I was a kid

I saw this at 5 or 6 and since then have never left such classic works.

The music in this show is fantastic well done John Stuart.

You know, a more truer adaptation just keeps the Hyde being Jekyll a Plot Twist and having Utterson as the protagonist Then again, It goes more to name changes to keep the twist part intact without feeling spoiled by the Pop Culture

It traumatized me 😅 to this day I wouldn’t dare to read the book.

I have heard a lot of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde but I never understood what was the story about but I understand it the story thanks to this video

One reading (aka interpretation) of this iconic story is that all humans have a fear of their inner evil, and if given the chance, they would like separate themselves from this evil.

He wanted to get rid of his evil side so as to create a utopian society of only good people but since we cannot assume something as good without the knowledge of evil... That's the reason we cannot put an end to either good or bad, both of these qualities are like poles of magnet i.e Even if we manage to break a magnet the polarities continue to exist...

This is actually fairly accurate in a lot of places, though it still has the more benevolent Jekyll who is trying to eliminate evil rather than to indulge himself.

I remember watching this on Nickelodeon during the early 90s it would air at halloween .

That scream from Jekyll scared the shit out of me when I was a kid 27:52

this movie really twisted hyde into more of a monster than desires deemed wrong from society evolving into darker feelings, this seems like a bible cartoon with the story being a bedtime story and everything beginning to sound more like a lesson crafted for children rahter than a real story. It also immediately starts with hyde going into a kill acting all mighty and him being more of a seperate dominant side rather than jekyll being the one responsible and hyde being part of him. Really doesn’t sell the story being a mystery.

This music during the transformation sequence is obviously dubbed later on in the 80s. I believe this adaption is from like 1973 and that music is from 1986!

My first introduction to Jekyll and Hyde was a horror movie book about horror movies at first I mistook his name for Jackel until my mom told me the right name and my favorite version of Jekyll and Hyde is Jekyll and Hyde The Musical. Wish we had more Jekyll and Hyde adaptations. Especially with Heroic Jekyll. And if he gets more about him he needs to be younger so he doesn't look like a copy of Scrooge.
