Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show - Cover Of The Rolling Stone (Austrian TV, 1974)
Музыка
Song starts at 1:17. Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, shortened from 1975 onwards to Dr. Hook, were an American rock band, formed in New Jersey. Their biggest hits were "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" (both 1972), "A Little Bit More" (1976), "Sharing the Night Together" (1978), and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (1979). The founding core of the band consisted of George Cummings, Ray Sawyer, and Billy Francis. Sawyer lost his right eye in a 1967 automobile accident.
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.

My mom loved Sylvia's Mother and Only Sixteen. She has been gone eighteen years now.
God, I suddenly felt tears at the reality it's been nearly 50 years since this song...where did all that time go. The World seemed to hold endless possibilities. All we had to do was grab for it. But, there are no do-overs...

Some of the best music? The best music! And yes I have that same feeling I could have written what you wrote about time time going by. I guess we have to just be happy that we had it to begin with. And I know you said they are no do-overs. And in my Christian there are not. But there's a lot of Hindus and others who say that reincarnation is what happens and then there are endless do overs.. so I guess we can hope. Besides maybe somebody will do that Einstein time travel thing How good was the music then? Well there are still bands out there who are filling stadiums based on that Euro era including Bruce Springsteen and of course the rolling Stones and many others that many of us saw when they were in their twenties Speaking of The rolling Stones I remember the song time is on my But for me not longer
I love hearing them all laugh they are rip roaring funny, they are happy, the 70's was a beautiful time to be young.
im 63 now and i remember these songs like yesterday
I first heard these guys over 50 years ago on a juke box in Austria, where I visited every summer, growing up. My mother was Austrian. I still get goose bumps when ever I hear the opening riff to Sylvie's Mother. Wow fantastic !
what i find very sad is that a lot of younger people have never even heard of dr hook and the saddest part is that they don't know what the hell they are missing they were such a great band so many great songs when your in love with a beautiful woman sylvias mother cover of the rolling stone and so many many more

Thats a great first show! I always play the "Who's your first concert" game with people. And ive never heard Dr. Hook, so we'll done! Mine is Hall and Oates.
I saw Dr. Hook's Medicine Show at High Point College in the mid '70's. I remember it being GREAT!
Was a mid-teenage kid, living and working on a ranch and my best friend (my parents were his guardian) and I would literally be stoned every day and jam on Dr. hook…had to be stoned to move sprinkler pipe, pick rock, drive Steiger tractors, plowing, disc’ing, harrowing, planting, harvesting…being “stoned” was a much needed coping mechanism. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

the First 45rpm record I ever bought. 1973? or 74. still got it. RIP Ray baby✌🏼
Ray was so groovy on that. He captured it. My poor old Grey haired daddy. At least we were cooler than these millennial kids. They have no spirit. We ridiculed our parents. But we really didn't HATE them like this generatiion does.
A dangerous band to ask to lip sync....they stayed on script for the most part. Love these guys!
Singing to this back then with little care and plenty of abandon. (I was a teenager then). Fun!
Yes, thank you very much!

rock n Roll Heaven too another one home and Ray will never be forgotten. someday we'll all be up there, young and smiling - beautiful! does anyone notice that of ALL the live versions of Rolling Stone you'll find on KZread THIS ONE is THE ONE - the one we actually heard played on the radio and still do. if u listen u will notice it's the exact version, funny they went all the way to Austria to record the one that would end up being the radio version. I like it cuz it's even got George Cummings IT'S THE ORIGINAL! godspeed Ray'eyepatch'Sawyer I was hoping u would make it to see the band to this year but - "if there's a rock n Roll Heaven, u know they got a helluva band!

that's because the studio version is overdubbed over them miming, it's not live at all - which is what they did on a lot of TV show performances during this era.
