Dr. D Teaches: Fighting Multiple Enemies in Mage Knight

Ойындар

It's never fun to be fighting by yourself against multiple enemies. But you can join me for a breakdown of how to do it in Mage Knight! In this video, I will cover the basics of attacking and blocking against more than one opponent, and then we'll talk about grouping enemies for more complicated attacks.

Really good explanation. One small correction, however (hope I don’t come off at too too much of a douche). Enemies that have elemental resistance(s) (fire, ice, or both fire and ice) are protected twofold; if you group enemies during your attack, it is only the first of the effects below that will apply to the entire group. The second effect applies only to the enemy that has the resistance icon(s) printed on it. 1) Attacks are inefficient if they are of the element that the enemy is resistant to. Therefore, fire attacks (for fire resistance), ice attacks (for ice resistance), or fire-, ice-, and coldfire attacks (for both ice resistance and fire resistance) become halved when used against this enemy or any other enemy that it is grouped with. 2) Enemies with fire resistance, ice resistance or both fire- and ice resistance are immune to any effect (other than Attack- or Block effects) that comes from: 2a) a red card (for fire resistance), a blue card (for ice resistance) or either a red- or blue card (for both fire- and ice resistance) 2b) a Unit ability that is activated by paying a red mana (for fire resistance), a blue mana (for ice resistance) or either a red- or blue mana (for both fire- and ice resistance) This is definitely one of the most subtle but substantial rules in the game...

Ah, yes, less of a correction, more of an addition. I should have included this, so I'll pin the comment!

@@BeyondSolitaire There seems to be some disparity between Tonny's comment and what you said. Specifically, are coldfire attacks efficient when one of two (or more) grouped enemies has fire resistance and the other had ice resistance? You said yes in the video, but Tonny implies no in 1) above.

@@ccwtree11, you understood me correctly; a single enemy must have both cold resistance and fire resistance in order to make coldfire attacks inefficient towards the rest of the group. See the ultimate edition rule book page 9, column 1, point 4: wizkids.com/posters/repository/wizkids/MKUE%20Rulebook%20BOOKLET.pdf

@@ccwtree11, but notice also that the ability to ignore non-attack/-block effects from red/blue cards and to ignore unit abilities powered by red/blue mana is never shared with the group.

Just got the Laserox organizer and stained everything to the characters. I haven’t played since 2012. I can’t wait to get back into this game. I watched all of the videos here and man, I remember the combat being difficult to remember but that’s an understatement. Thanks for the videos! If you want the pictures for staining “christopher Joseph” is my FB name.

Thanks Liz very helpful! Can I ask: how does the resistance share work with enemies who have “Defend” or “Elusive” abilities (as in expansions)? Do all enemies get the the identical number on the shield/armour... or instead is the number on the original enemy divided equally amongst enemies you group?

Ok, I'm just gonna ask on here, at risk of being asked why I don't read the manual (i'm just not very good at skimming, I guess): when attacking a city, if I defeat two of the three enemies and leave, is only one enemy awaiting me the next time I enter the city? I think only the spawning hole things have enemies respawn when you re-enter after a partial defeat, right?

Wait are u allowed to attack 2 rampaging orcs at the same time? I Thought you are only allowed to attack 1 in that case?

  • 4 жыл бұрын

Great explanation, but I still didn't find answer to big question :) : What happened if you attack multiple enemies (3 in city), you block all, but can kill only 2. Is it possible to return latter and finish rest of them (1) latter, oz. you lose game? In underground and ruins I think you must kill all enemies or when you come back latter, there are again same number of enemies. tnx

If I assault a fortified building and provoke a rampaging monster at the same time, does the fortification of the building also applies to the rampaging monster following the rules of combined resistance/fortification?

From rule book page 8: “An assault is a move, and it can happen that it provokes one or more rampaging enemies. You have to fight both the defenders and these rampaging enemies at once. The rampaging enemies are not fortified, though, and you can conquer the site even if you do not defeat them.”
