Dawkins' lack of manners during his encounter with Dr Craig is more revealing than he perhaps intended. He frequently boasts that scientists maintain an open mind and are uniquely self-critical, always open to challenge. Dawkins, as instantiated in his brusque dismissal of Dr Craig, is as closed minded and dogmatically wedded to his own world view as it's possible to be.

Gary Boulton, that is a thoughtful reply. It makes me think of working with children who have had unloving, unhealthy starts to life who need love and acceptance and a calm response. They express this need in angry, destructive, hurtful, hateful, and violent ways. It helped me see that Richard Dawkins must have pain and brokenness (like we all do). The response to his spewing of hatred is in 1 Corinthians 4:12,13. 'When reviled we bless, when persecuted we endure, when slandered we entreat'. And Romans 12:14 'bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them'. Thank God for his Word as the anchor, as it is HARD in the moment to bring love and not anger!

@@garyboulton7524 oh what I mean is that I do work with children with this reality and your comment helped me see the parallel between Richard Dawkins comments and the children's behaviour. Essentially this helps me to trust God's word and not my feelings or emotions.

The Dawkins impression is hilarious. You'd almost think he was a imperial officer during the colonial era talking down to the primitive american colonists.

Dawkins thinks that it is a form of child abuse if you raise your children to know about God and the bible. I must admit that I laughed at first , but I came to realize he wasn't joking. Dawkins needs psychological help ( and spiritual help). If he truly thinks that parents who give their children biblical values ( praying, loving God and others, the good news of Christ and salvation, etc.) harms kids, I think it is time for Dawkins to be evaluated. Honestly.

I watched that 3 v 3 Debatte Debate. It was amazing.

Would it be crazy to hope that one day there would be a debate between Dr Craig and Stephen Fry? Would the latter react to him the same way? Eh, many prominent atheists have come "face to face" with WLC. Christopher Hitchens and Lawrence Krauss being two of them. I'm sorry, but no true atheist will change their world view after listening to WLC or any other bible thumper, no matter how fancy their arguments are dressed up. You understand that the Bible is the claim, and it can't be evidence. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are anonymous and there is no evidence that who ever wrote them were even witnesses or even lived during Jesus's time. People don't even 100% know that Jesus was a real man let alone a supernatural entity that preformed miracles.

Dawkins is not only wrong about most things outside his narrow scope of expertise, but also a petty little man.

I am inclined to believe-and I mean this in the most amiable way-that Dr. Dawkins isn't as bona fide as certain individuals would like to believe. He strikes me as a haughty kind of individual; like a hubristic sophist. It bemuses me how this pseudo is "the most famous atheist."

No disrespect, but this is quite embarrassing because you could say the same thing in regard to William Lane Craig's fear of debating Jeffery Jay Lowder, who is the best atheist debater there is. If you don't believe me, check out his debates with Phil Fernandes and Frank Turek where he absolutely destroys both of them. Given how good of an atheist debater he is, I can see why William Lane Craig has been ducking a debate with Lowder since the late 1990s.

Dawkins sound like a character from Slytherin in this description.

I am against public debates between science and religion because it makes it seem they're on the same footing. Especially because apologists are debaters but not necessarily scientists, and scientist are for the most past not debaters.

@Prasanth Thomas exactly! So two reasons I think explain my point a little better are: scientists aren't necessarily adept in philosophy but apologists are, some more than others. So the debates quickly devolve into 'facts versus concepts' in the best of cases. And it gives viewers the notion that religions have undergone the same level of intellectual rigor, research quality, and self-correcting process that science goes through.

That is some interesting irony i would say. Lame Craig won't debate anyone unless they have a PhD, but somehow feels he is qualified to debate actual cosmologists when he himself has no PhD in any sort of science. He made the mistake by debating Sean Carroll. SC absolutely demolished him.

Greg Smith “Dawkins, R. (2003). "The evolution of evolvability". On Growth, Form and Computers. London: Academic Press.” It’s simply not true that he hasn’t done any research in 30 years. Could it be that you would discredit any research that supports the theory of evolution? Even if hadn’t done research in the last 30 years (not true), that wouldn’t be a good reason to say he was a bad scientist as you’d also be ignoring all the work he did before that. You can also look at how many different journals he’s been cited in. Anyway - if you make false claims, and are shown evidence that directly contradicts those claims, and still hold onto those claims, I’m not sure how useful this KZread discussion can be.

And that’s the Jesus of atheism. All class 😝

Dawkins was obviously intimidated. Craig is too thorough and prepared. Craigs direct organized clear points are difficult to dodge.

Nonsense, Dawkins debate him after all and many more religious nutjobs, he never feared them and he isnt even in the top 5% of atheist debaters. Hitchens while showing early signs of cancer(much coughing and clearly being overweight and half drunken debated top apologist every week at their arenas and once debated Craig, Douglas Wilson and one more apologist in a 1v3 debate). Cant be afraid when you know the truth

You should try to understand that no atheist hates god. You can't hate somthing you don't believe in. Noone hates Santa Claus or the easter bunny either.

@@Weserman75 Everyone has the capacity to know and love God. Those who refuse to love themselves and have rejected the source of all love. Atheists may not call it hate but that's what it is. They hate God and His Divine laws so they try to pretend He doesn't exist, it's comforting for them to live a life of denial of love, truth and hatred of God. Sadly the hatred will be eternal because God exists and they are just foolish men.

No disrespect, but this is quite embarrassing because you could say the same thing in regard to William Lane Craig's fear of debating Jeffery Jay Lowder, who is the best atheist debater there is. If you don't believe me, check out his debates with Phil Fernandes and Frank Turek where he absolutely destroys both of them. Given how good of an atheist debater he is, I can see why William Lane Craig has been ducking a debate with Lowder since the late 1990s.

I think his coldness was justified. I've heard WLC espouse some awful views; about the genocide in the OT, about evolution, and about homosexuals. And in fact WLC comes off even more condescending than R Dawkins, which is quite the feat!

Typically intelligent people are prone to a more than decent sense of humor. There funny Ala Dr. Craig. Dawkins? He seems to have exchanged that to double down on pride. Perhaps, perhaps not. Just an observation. God bless this world's messes.

That' s exactly that i thought: Dawkings is nothing but a psicopath, with no manners and no respect for the rest of the people. Dr Craigs, probes empirically that atheism is not a tolerant or humanist philosohpy. Dr Craig, always classy.. =)

rikardotsamsiyu Dawkins isn’t a psycho. But he isn’t a scientist either. In the sense that he hasn’t t done any scientific research in the past 30+ years. All he has done is wrote books and debated college kids and others. I have no issue with that everyone needs to but dough in their pockets but he hasn’t made any awesome discoveries or moved his field forward at all. Many scientists including many biologist find his work a joke and claim it misrepresents science.
