I vividly remember when You Brought The Sunshine came out. I was in my teens living in Modesto California and one of my sisters from Los Angeles came for a visit and brought You Brought The Sunshine on cassette. It was so amazing to hear for the first time. It was unlike any gospel music I've ever heard and I've been in love with the Clark Sisters ever since. Even though gospel music is a genre, You Brought The Sunshine ushered in a whole new genre of gospel which I didn't realize until someone did a history of gospel music and You Brought The Sunshine was a history making song.
@719kai719
4 жыл бұрын
It sure was history making.. Contemporary Gospel in one of it's earliest forms.. I've always loved the song since I first heard it. Ironically although I too grew up in the church..I first heard it on a secular radio station playing outside.

I grew up not a church kid listening to this song my foster mom would play every Saturday and I thought it was a disco song. I'm just learning today at 40 this was a gospel song as I never knew who sang it and never heard the song again after my aunt died and I became grown. It's a shame as a kid I never paid attention to the words I just knew it jammed. Amazing song.
@719kai719
4 жыл бұрын
Yes..it played on secular radio often. It was one of the earliest Contemporary gospel songs of the time. That's likely why many Gospel stations.. people within the church took issue with it..It was a crossover success.. The words were always amazing..but the beat also brought you in..and it appealed to people who didn't go to church too.

The Best Female Group of all time of any genre.
