Nope. All staff. Nurses are essential, but so is non-medical staff whose job is to take patients from point A to point B, and staff whose job is to clean and sterilize, security staff and so on. Nurses are essential, but the rest are too. I say this because my mum works hospitals. She started at one of those jobs where she takes patients from point A to point B. She studied a degree and now she's working as medical staff, immediately below nurses. Her experience has been that most people who are rude, are actually nurses who have airs of superiority. I'm not saying all nurses are bad, most aren't, but most people who are mean are actually nurses and doctors who think the world revolves around them. Hospitals run thanks to all kinds of people and positions, and it's silly to assume it's just the top two. In fact, shows like this aren't realistic at all (which, hey, don't get me wrong, I love Chicago Med). They show nurses and doctors practically doing all the muscle work (doctors taking patients around the hospital, doctors/nurses cleaning after patients when they puke, doctors/nurses admitting patients in...). They don't do that irl, those tasks are done by other staff, which makes sense. Why would the nurse, who is specialized in doing medical care such as putting an IV, be admitting people in or walking them around? They are needed for their job. The same as someone who works the desk doesn't operate on people, surgeons don't do paperwork.

You have that right!! In fact I put them high on the pedestal and the pedestal doctors are on isn’t as high.

Its nice that Choi's sister has improved greatly throughout the show... from ending up homeless to having a good life with a decent friend. (Note: I haven't watched the next few episodes yet so no spoilers if this ends up going badly.)

Ahh yes, sound logic. They get angry at a medical professional for being unable to save her, rather than being glad they didn't just ignore her and let her die. And then you try to kill people out of spite. Killing the doctor won't bring back your wife mate, and it won't be a case of vengeance either because he didn't kill her, he only tried to save her. I'm just sad that he died and wasn't able to be prosecuted for the attempted murder.

My mom was a teacher for 25 years before she retired and went back to school for nursing, she graduated from nursing with honours at the age of 52 years old, she now works at a hospital, and she loves her job more than ever. I love nurses and I wish to be one, although I ended up getting a different degree and career, I hope to become a nurse one day, I never thought of seeing myself as one for a long time, but my mother made that happened for me, she made me realize that it's never to late to go back to school and starting another career path for yourself, you can be a teacher one day, a pilot the next, and a nurse in the end.

I know this is a really serious scene but the chemical container literally has "Toxic Chemical" written on it. Not even the name of it just "Toxic Chemical" 😂😂

Haha I’m a chemist and yeah, that would absolutely never happen, ESPECIALLY with a substance that has a higher risk potential, whether it be flammability, toxicity/carcinogenicity, oxidizing potential, acidity or basicity. Also, hydrogen cyanide is a gas (which is shown in the show) but that means it would never come in a thermos like container that could just pop open that easily, and would be kept in a strong metal gas cylinder

I think the idea here was it's supposed to be an unmarked container, maybe with a couple of images from the legend stating that it would release vapour, but other than that nothing on it. And while a medical professional might recognize the legend instantaneously, a viewer wouldn't necessarily get it, so writing "toxic chemical" makes it obvious to the viewer. That, and the easy to open container that wouldn't be used for a gas this dangerous, is only being used because he wants to open it quickly, so he probably special ordered the container or safely stored it in that container himself.

It's so petty and disgraceful how people act towards the person who tried to save their loved one, yes you lost someone close to you but how would they feel knowing that they are resting peacefully and you blame someone for something that wasn't entirely at fault , only sad thing here is that the ones who didn't help is the one to be petty

Only medical series I continuously watch again and again, I never get tired of it!

I would like him a lot more if he didn't seem to think that all mental illness was "Self-Indulgence" and should just be "Powered Through." The last time he said that I wanted to jump through the screen and choke him to death. Then I reminded myself that this is fiction and he's just a character being played by an actor.

Yeah I have been watching it on Netflix. Not all the newer episodes are on there because there is up to season 5 of Chicago fire.

Sometimes I didn't understand people like this dude. They don't think about their actions hurting others, they are so weak, they only concentrate on their suffering. Others suffer too obviously. Sorry, if my point of view is rough, but I think like that when people kill others because of their own problems

I agree with you completely. They are so consumed by their pain, they don't care who else they hurt. Grief is heart breaking and trigger things beyond our comprehension. Some people become greater human beings becasue of it, and some self destruct like this man. My empathy ended for him when he decided to walk through that ER door with malicious intent.

You either see problems in your life as a way to make yourself wiser and stronger, or you suffer like him. I truly am sorry for people like this, but don't understand still their ways to co-op with pain. Plus, he seriously blamed the doctor and made it in ER, where people suffer even more than him, being in pain from serious injuries. Doctors can't do everything, it's sad but true...

I agree! Unfortunately sometimes trauma and grief can do unimaginable things, you have no control over your brain. no control over what you think or do, and most of the time innocent people suffer the consequences. it's so so good portrayed in Chicago Med. Hey and don't apolagise, it's completely natural for us to be furious with people who hurt others like that, people who weren't even part of the situation regarding his wife. it doesn't justify what he did obviously, it's bad that he got into a self destructive mode like endofyraa aaryfodne said. it's beyond sad when these things happen :(.

Usually the bottles have symbols,they don’t say “toxic chemicals” they say danger explosive or just danger….or in this case “danger cyanide”…was a little fake looking,but then this show has so many inaccuracies it drives me crazy 🙄

Don't ypu realise people do this all the time and they don't want to hurt them . They ask because they want their own dr or one they trust. I did this many many times because both my kids were premature and I had to ask for their drs many many times !! If they called everytime that happens the police wouldn't be able to do their job because they are dealing with people wanting to talk with their dr !!
