    As a doctor that has to run a paediatric out pt dep/adult out patient /Casualty all in one night with one intern , i can tell you .....They should've started with employing more doctors . Many colleagues are unemployed , yet we'll dwell into thee unknown instead of sorting out the issue at hand.

    Because there's no money. Too many unemployed people who rely on government benefits and too few employed people who pay taxes. Government collects far less money than what it spends. What we need is jobs. More employed citizens means less citizens dependent on benefits. And they would contribute to the economy by paying taxes and spending more.

    This is a good law. Australia is desperate for doctors, and this law will encourage all the doctors to emigrate, which is good for Australia, which needs them.

    I thought being a doctor was a calling with money being secondary to helping human beings. What about all the years the doctors, specialists etc have been ripping us off because of no regulations on their pricing? Now they want to cry because they won’t be able to finance their extravagant lifestyles. Cry me a river…..

    As a doctor working in UK I can say it does not work and is failing daily. Most countries have two systems .Why not in SA. ?Pribate system is a necessity

    I have mixed feelings. Doctors and private Healthcare charge exorbitant rates and basically extort people further. The government can't manage anything. I hope this benefits the people in the end.

    Do you realise that the whole of Africa and any other place can get free medical care? Even illegal immigrants refugees asylum seekers foreign nationals and all children regardless of nationality. I hope all of you are willingly going to help pay the bill. Tax payers are sucked dry.     Think about it this way .....all the non medical aid people.........will ALL stream to private Medical facilities....... and form their 200 people long lines ...waiting for treatment .........will you get a chance to see your doctor...?......Will you also wait in that long lines ...???...I would rather pay that R3500 .......and remember .....you will still have to pay that R3500 a month...(.and that 200 people wont pay a cent )...!!..whilst still waiting in that long line ..!!Not so sure now are you ...???

    This system is in Europe and Australia and it working well. Goverment is building a system that cares for every citizen which is part of human rights. Those who needs medical aid they can do that at their own expense and no subsidy at the expense of tax payers.     If anyone says that this bill must not be signed, then government must stop subsidising medical aid for people. People must really pay medical aids out of their own pockets and take that money and invest it in public hospitals. Those that oppose the Bill should not complain about the high prices of medicine.

Also we have seen many professionals coming simply because the grass is not as green as they thought on the other side. So they are welcome to leave, we have a supplus of doctors anyway so more opportunities for the unemployed
