As a doctor that has to run a paediatric out pt dep/adult out patient /Casualty all in one night with one intern , i can tell you .....They should've started with employing more doctors . Many colleagues are unemployed , yet we'll dwell into thee unknown instead of sorting out the issue at hand.
Why don’t we focus on fixing public hospitals?

Because there's no money. Too many unemployed people who rely on government benefits and too few employed people who pay taxes. Government collects far less money than what it spends. What we need is jobs. More employed citizens means less citizens dependent on benefits. And they would contribute to the economy by paying taxes and spending more.

I thought being a doctor was a calling with money being secondary to helping human beings. What about all the years the doctors, specialists etc have been ripping us off because of no regulations on their pricing? Now they want to cry because they won’t be able to finance their extravagant lifestyles. Cry me a river…..
As a doctor working in UK I can say it does not work and is failing daily. Most countries have two systems .Why not in SA. ?Pribate system is a necessity

Medical Aids will lose membership due to extra individual taxes to fund NHI. This will raise the unemployment rate. Only cANCer can do this injustice to our country.
We need to fix the public Hospitals . look what happened to the public Hospitals not operating as it should.now the government want to do the same in the private sector.

Remember the people thats leaving the country are the people with money. The rest is poor and old. So good luck
Hopefully the days of fat-cat medical insurance firms are finally numbered. Just look at their plush buildings and the way they spend your premiums. Why must I pay R3,500 monthly for some basic health insurance? For what?

This system is in Europe and Australia and it working well. Goverment is building a system that cares for every citizen which is part of human rights. Those who needs medical aid they can do that at their own expense and no subsidy at the expense of tax payers. We need to keep the goverment irrespective who comes in power to make sure that it works.

If anyone says that this bill must not be signed, then government must stop subsidising medical aid for people.
