You want us to contribute in the nation building. So, why are we not paid the premium our minister is being paid. We have been cotributing nation building since we are staying and brought up here serving the national service and paying premium in Singapore, where inflation is hitting us like ultra sonic missile. Where Malaysian staying in Johor is paid the same as us and not affected by the inflation and paying drastic high priced car, comfortable home and petrol.

We convert many foreigners into citizens in a small island. Japan suffers from falling birth rate but is hesitant to bring in foreigners because of the undesirable effects of it. Notice that the foreigners in Singapore gather together in their own groups posing future problems, a situation of potential risk to Singapore.

Why no unemployment rate based on age group in Singapore? Sad

No, all citizens can work in civil service, armed forces, private sector or open a business. You can work locally or abroad. So what nonsense you talking?

The Union did not give us a fair deal. It uses the union fees to form Fairprice, NTUC Comfort, etc etc. But the profits derived from these enterprises were not distributed back to union members as their monies were used for profiteering.

An observation I've made from watching speech videos of LKY, GCT, LHL and Lawrence Wong is that as our population gets more educated and worldly, the Prime Minister speaks more slowly, with simpler words, with topics smaller and smaller in scope, and as if to people of lower maturity levels and intelligence. Considering how even in the early days, a meagre % of the population even spoke English, LKY at least graced us with a proper conversation, perfect vocabulary, and intelligent discourse. Listening to current-day speeches, it almost seems like our population has no higher than N level education.

Livelong education is not done in efficient and realistic way.

US & China will always at loggerhead with one another but will turn out to be assisting and compliment one another in the end because we are after all come from one big family.

What the young fear the most is whether the HDB has priced the flats beyond their rich as public housing is no longer made affordable to everyone.

The sad thing is that today Meritocracy has been steadily transformed into “Money-多可喜”。We have puffed-up goondus pretending to be some kind of semi-celestial beings and self-styled "natural aristocrats" pouring scorn and disdain 24/7 on we mortal beings, spinning intricate webs to safeguard their power and riches, while wasting millions upon millions of the nations wealth. Remember "xia suay", "he must be from a lousy school" ? Despite crowing day and night, 24/7, like a mad cockerel on an accidental overdose of Viagra as regards "Singapore's No.1 Education System", it has failed to produce any world-class talents. Instead, the big G now praises those dubious FT from countries previously trashed by LKY. Why? What has gone wrong with our education system, despite having been helmed by supposedly hyper-calibre ministers? Will those goondus be bold enough to admit? Perhaps we should close down all our institutions of higher learning and send all the students to India to study. The huge obstacle going forward to SGP's progress lies in the "mental and social corralling" of the people from a very young age, so that they can only move in govt-dictated/allocated paths. The second big obstacle is that the government hogs every economic sector, leaving very little room for out-of-the-box thinking and manoeuvering, causing stalemating. For SGP to make it to the Next Lap (to borrow GCT's words), the government must divest itself of all businesses. The business regulator and the business operator cannot be one and the same party. What we see today is the mother of all Conflicts Of Interest.

In 28 years, GST has risen by 3 times - from 3% to the coming 9%. During this time, the population in Singapore has almost doubled from 3.4 million in 1994. Meanwhile, our CPF Minimum Sum - the amount of money we have locked up - has increased from S$40,000 in 1994 to S$192,000 in 2022. Shouldn’t the government already have enough money for investment purposes, and generate long-term economies of scale from yearly earnings? Where is all the money going?

You forgot only 30,000+ citizen babies born every year, while 20,000+ older citizens die. Only 30% will grow up into rational, productive, high performing working adults due to the fact that Nature/God distributes talents unfairly and unequally. The fact is there are many mediocre and dud singaporean workers. How talented are you? How talented are your kids?

While it is commendable that LW highlighted all the failures of his predecessor LHL, but it is clear he is all about maintain a status quo. All he could offer are some minor changes here and there for optics. Singaporeans can tell status quo did not work. A government managed by LW would fail too. Singaporeans should be concerned about another term of one party rule by PAP under LW. Ideally, the country should move towards two parties rule and allowed more representation for across the isle. To work together towards a better Singapore is only possible when representatives are responsive to their electorates and not only vote along party lines. Unfortunately, LW is not the solution. Urging all Singaporeans who did not benefit under LHL's government to reject LW and not vote PAP. Do not vote PAP. Vote opposition, any opposition.

singapore couldnt even allow one flip,this thought embedded long in singapore policy maker and it cause (my own thought)abit anxiety and frightening mindset of making mistake or mistakes.....this mindset resonates through out society and dare not too much risking and better playsafe....so the question is what kind of singapore you want in the future like margaret thatcer once said " what kind of england we want "

Having minimum or higher wages in some sectors may even encourage Singaporeans to reclaim jobs that have in the past decade gone to foreigners. We know of Singaporean friends of ours, who are happy to work in the service industry while schooling overseas as there is a minimum salary of about $12 per hour (after tax). These Singaporeans will not consider taking on the job in Singapore because the pay is too low.

Those singaporean friends are schooling overseas so that they do not have to work in f&b jobs after graduation. But if singaporean grads are only average skills and mediocre talent, why should any company pay them more? How many singaporeans have you hired for your business? Are you a top performer in your job? How talented and skilled are your parents and siblings?

Build more hawker centres and collect 0 rent but charge maintenence costs. Its OK that hawkers make more money. The culture of what is wrong with collecting more money has spiralled the costs for hawker food resulting in lower quality food.

Let an open market decide: the bad ones who never improve should close shop. Learn to add value so that people are willing to pay more for your food.

You will be so stupid as to continue patronising bad awful hawkers? Plus why keep complaining about rising prices when your wages and bonus been rising and hawker prices been low for decades? Why not gladly pay the higher prices at those good, value-added hawkers to reward their effort to be better? Why you demand higher pay for mediocre work attitude but good hawkers cannot raise prices?
