I'm a die-hard Giants fan...and we knew and revered Vin. He is one of the eternal voices of baseball, perhaps in all of sports. There has never been anyone better. #RIPVinScully

Vin said he was happy! Happy when he went to the booth to talk to US!! His last game he sung "You are the wind beneath my wings" to US!! Not one dry eye in Dodgers house. Epic.

One of the many wonderful things about Vin’s baseball broadcasts both TV and radio is that his listeners always knew the count from pitch to pitch, who was on base, the score, all amidst his stories of the game.

I had the opportunity to meet him once. I overlooked my boyhood hero, Steve Garvey who was right in front of me, and was in awe of just SEEING Vin Scully. It was back in the 1990s on the old loge (orange) level of Dodger Stadium. Vinny was about 30-40ft away. Between us was Garvey and Don Drysdale. And it was Vin Scully’s presence that gave me pause. What makes it amazing is that all he had to do was walk by. Years later, I took my oldest son to his first game. The universe blessed us by somehow ending up in a luxury box beside the booth. I held my son up so he could see, but more importantly HEAR Vinny doing his thing. I’ll forever cherish that.

He didn’t know who I was, but I feel like I lost a friend. Vin Scully has been a part of my life since I was a little boy. I used to sneak a transistor radio into church and hide it in my pocket and bring the earpiece up through the back of my coat so I could listen to Dodger games. Every night during the season I would listen to Vin Scully on my little clock radio that sat by my bed. His voice not only painted a picture of the game for me, but he took me to exotic cities like New York, Atlanta, and Montreal. He literally narrated my dreams. I can remember going to Dodger Stadium and you could literally hear his broadcast throughout the crowd as people brought radios to the stadium and had them on without the use of headphones so that everyone can hear. I remember listening to Vin while swimming in the pool, laying on a towel in the sand at the beach and cruising around in my 1970 Barracuda. Vinny is gone, but the memories will always be with me, and the voice can be revisited with a touch of my phone. Is he the most beloved man in sports? I can’t think of anyone I admire and appreciate more! ❤🎙

Don Drysdale was my father's client. Many days spent at Chavez with an A.M. radio to my ear, listening and watching. Years later, after many years in broadcast radio, I missed Vin by 30 minutes! I am not sorry for his passing. Who else can say they lived a life of grace, gratitude, and humility, that made his broadcast even better. God speed Vin. God Speed.

I was blessed to be in LA with many LEGENDARY LA announcers Vin Scully, Chick Hearn, Dick Enberg, Ralph Lawler and Bob Miller. GREAT indeed.

I'm just now gathering myself over Scully, and you set me right back by mentioning Chick Hearns. As you wrote, we've been blessed here in L.A. with some of the best to do it, but Chick? He was a man apart. His pregame show was often nearly as exciting as the game. Coop-A-Loop; Slaaaam Dunk!,;Kareem's Skyhook "can't be blocked"; No harm, no foul, this one's in the refrigerator, the eggs are coolin' and the butter's gettin' hard; ....but my fondest memory is that I actually won a "Chickism" T-shirt by being the umteenth caller and getting the correct answer! I spoke to Chick on the phone that evening, shaking like a leaf ...my entire family went berserk!....My wife, my two daughters, my MOTHER....all running around like crazy people....Chick was THE man!....and he had no love for the Clippers either, lol. Rip Vin AND Chick!

I'm getting older. The soundtrack of my youth is fading, yet some things, as well as some people are indelible. I cannot remember baseball without Vince, nor basketball without Russ. There are only a few left that precede my memories. With each day I feel the loss of those that fueled my athletic desire while listening to their exploits undercovers, while I supposed to be asleep. I am sad, furlong and nostalgic. I'll listen to my memories and bow my head.

I don't get around to this channel very often, and I love DP, but Scully's passing is personal and I'm floored. When the news broke yesterday I was speechless. I knew he was in his 90's, but for whatever reason, I never expected him to leave here. I've not commented on other platforms because they're so politicized, but I trust this channel. Seven years old, first transistor radio in 1962. I hadn't gone to a Dodgers game yet, but my Dad and I would listen to Vin on the radio in the garage. I went to my FIRST game soon thereafter, and it wasn't fun at first. I didn't know what to do, how to act, everything was so big, so new, so overwhelming for a 6 y/o. About the middle of the second inning a family of 4 or 5 took seats right in front of us and they brought their RADIO.....soon thereafter, I heard Vin, and all was right with the world and when it came to Dodger Baseball, always would be. The though of him will ALWAYS be in my heart.

And this is why I tell people to please, please listen to Bob Uecker call games for the Brewers and Denny Matthews call games for the Royals. These are legends of a bygone era and one day, they won't be calling anymore. I mean, you can't listen to a single Uecker broadcast without cracking up at some point. Cherish and appreciate these guys while we still have them.

So agree with DP’s sentiments..indeed I spent many evenings in LA listening to Vin’s Dodger game coverage..very much felt like you were solo in your place and a ballgame underway..the languid momentary ambience speaking to the game’s unique appeal.
