Doxy Eggs : DIY Potion Bottle : Potion Prop : Harry Potter Potion : Poisonous Potions

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today I will show you how to create Doxy Eggs. These Eggs are from the Pesky Doxies that like to inhabit places like Grimmauld Place. Doxy Eggs are a common potion ingredient but can be poisonous if ingested. These eggs are often a favorite treat of bowtruckles. This Potion Ingredient Bottle is a companion piece to our Doxicide Potion. This will be a great addition to our potion and prop collection we have been making!
To make this potion you will need:
1 Clear Glass Vial with a screw on lid
Black Permanent Marker
Rubbing Alcohol
Paper Towel
Gel Black Food Coloring
Silica Beads
Potion Labels Printed on Sticker Paper or Regular Paper and Mod Podge

I love that you provide labels and I like that the watermark you put on them sounds just like a shop you'd find in magical London instead of your youtube URL on them. You're amazing ♥

Wow, this one is nice and original ! I'd probably stick the main label onto the seal label as I used to see for instance on the honey and jam pots I used to buy... Anyway, inspiring as always !

I have been watching your videos for a while, and have just started making my potion bottles. I wanted to share an idea. For your green bottles, you could use a dollar store moss ball to look like a cork. I used a moss ball on top of the Mandrake Restoring Drought bottle. It looks good. Thank you for all your Fantastic ideas!!!

I think instead of the dessicant you could use birdshot sized shotgun pellets. They're already a steely grey/black, you can mix different shots to get a mixture of sizes, mostly uniform, and because they're lead they have a comfortable weight to them. Would also rattle pleasantly against the glass if you shake the bottle.

Awesome like always. I wish there was a Five Below in Oregon. I loved going there when I was out east. Do you cut your labels by hand or with a Cricut? I just got one so I'm curious what settings you use for yours, if you use one.

  • @CookingandCraftChick

I cut the labels for my videos by hand. When I cut labels out for my Etsy orders I use my cricut. I do a combination of print then cut on my cricket as well as making a template with crop marks on a png file that allows me to size it to 8.5x11 then I have a designated mat that helps me line the printed sheet up on it so it cuts correctly. The important part with the second option is setting up your printing with a bleed so if your cut isn’t 100% perfect it’s still good. Honestly for a beginner I would do the print then cut method. It’ll make your life a lot easier when cutting labels out on a cricut. The only down side is you waste a little paper because of the edge it prints to line everything up. I hope that helps, enjoy your cricut, I love mine!

I bought a pack of clear acrylic beads at Dollar General to make glowing embers for a diorama. I think I'll use black alcohol ink on some of them for my Doxy eggs.

When I did mine I nearly used the same silica pearls. I ended up using peppercorns that I rolled in black ink. for one bottle and palm seeds for another. Your label looks much better than mine. I may redo them with the pearls. What would you recommend to waterproof the labels? Mine are in a steamy bathroom.

Two to three coats of modpodge should do the trick. It stops paper from being ruined by resin, it should work for paper in a steamy/moist bathroom.
