Thanks Don. It was sorta funny in the moment, but yeah freaked me out after.

Hopefully the next gen Barracuda addresses those blind spots 🤣 JK, glad everyone is okay and that's crazy that the foils worked just fine with all the damage.

Yeah, but it’s way more fun to ride with a friend, and when that friend is filming, especially with a GoPro that makes everything look far away….you gotta get close to make it look interesting. When you’re both traveling close to 20 miles an hour it’s hard to judge the angles and the distance, I promise you this was a 50-50 fault. We just didn’t communicate.

@@ShepNelson Similar things happen on the slopes. It looked like you were both heel side at the time. Might be better to switch sides so you’re on the right side of formation, then heel side turns move you apart and toe side (where you have better visibility) brings you together. Helpful when one regular foot and a goofy foot ride together. Maybe helps, maybe not. Glad no injuries, That foil sure looks like it could cause a lot of damage on contact with waterlogged human skin!

@@greggoldman893 all very good suggestions. We actually are both goofy foot though…😂. Going into downwind season it’s good to know how dangerous this can be and everybody to brush up on simple safety like give each other some space.

Things happen fast on foil. We were both probably going 17mph at the time. Mistakes happen. Now we give more space!

A helmet is not the worst idea…

I’ve probably done at least 100 downwind in the last six years and this is the first time Ive seen, or been, in a collision. That’s not to say that a helmet would not be a bad idea for other reasons like your board hitting you but there’s also the concern of hitting the water at high speed head first, the helmet can snap your neck back. I don’t wear one, but some people do.

And this is glad why I don't drive/live in the US. No wonder so many US immigrants are applying in my country.
