Spent the first three years of my life in New Roc living on Union Street. Downtown is almost unrecognizable now with all the recent mid-rise construction!

Remember when HSBC Bank was Westchester Federal Savings and Loan? New Rochelle has grown a lot in 40 years. I enjoyed living there.

Yes I do. Also remember when it was Marine Midland Bank (worked there at the time). Also remember when Chase Bank was NBW ( National Bank of Westchester). Was raised in New Rochelle and lived there until I was 28… haven’t been back in over 14 years to visit. This video surely brought back good memories.

@@youmightrunoff8714 I’m a dreamer and decided to visit my grandparents several years ago so I left the country once you leave there’s no coming back. I tried to get back through legal means but they always refuse me entry. I even qualified for a PhD program made a successful business bought a house all of this just to prove that I have good intentions but nothing worked . They say I need to wait 10 years and well I’m waiting and dreaming of that day. I left a letter before I left, it’s hidden in a wall in one of those parks 😁. I forgot what I wrote but itd be interesting to read it. I wrote something to my future self. By the way new Rochelle is much bigger than this he missed on the most beautiful scenerios the lake, the side next to larchmont the tennis fields the football field. I found it much much prettier than white plains where I used to live before I moved to new Rochelle. 🙂

@@miguellaruku2725 I'm 56, Westchester County had a building code. it wasn't like this back n the day ... In the 60's New Rochelle turn down the plan and in the 70's White Plains was giving the green light to build high rise building like New York City but New Rochelle is less than half a mile from the Bx (NYC) borderline and it's on the (Waterfront) Long Island sound. One of my family that's living in one of the high-rise building, said he can easily see Connecticut, Long Island, Queens, and Manhattan. New Rochelle use to be the hot spot back in the day from the 30's up to the 70's.
