Just in case anyone was curious: we're still very far from simulating a real nematode brain. @lorelord2418
Ай бұрын
Hard disagree. Sure, animal cruelty is a thing. But there are different ethics with an artificial animal: You don't have to worry about the long-term effects of an animal getting conditioned to interact with humans. For instance, let's take a hypothetical coyote. You're not supposed to feed wild coyotes, because they will lose their fear of humans. This will then, inevitably, lead to coyotes predating on humans and in human environments. Or, take the manatee. You're not supposed to interact with manatees because they'll learn to associate humans with good things, and lead to more, easier poaching as well as accidental injuries from boats. You don't have to worry about an artificial coyote eating your neighbor's baby, and you don't have to worry about a simulated manatee getting shot by an asshole who's selling trophies.

Just want to point out that this is a very specific and scientifically important nematode named Caenorhabditis elegans or C elegans for short. Why is C elegans important and special? Well it’s because we have mapped their biology almost completely and can nearly flawlessly predict their development from single cell to mature animal due to a very low level of variability. We know exactly how many cells an adult C elegans has and the exact developmental lineage of every cell. This was also the fist species to have its full genome sequenced and it is an important model organism in developmental biology research due to how extensively we understand its normal development.

Speaking of putting animals in the matrix, there's a lab that actually put fish into tanks where they project other fish for them to form a school with, and some of those are simulated instead of reflecting another fish, so that the researchers can control them and input different behaviors to study how the behavior of fish on the edge propagates to the entire school.

@lorelord2418

I appreciate this short for being the first one on his channel and it being the most interesting and original post I've seen all week!
Nematodes function on 302 neurons, but my coworkers function on 2 neurons.

put in a command to unify off of which one was the last to eat and all the others save it for them but multiply after a certain number is reached/ matched, but that number keeps increasing. Then add a command when they reach 100 they fight but leave it simple so it’ll be the first to strike wins…
