Thank you Greg, there are still some problems for me though. For whatever reason the game seems to refuse to run any version before the release of Rise of the Rajas even though the rollback was a success, after pressing "Play" in the launcher menu the game executable will be shut down eventually. This isn't the case for any version after the release of the final expansion. Wonder if you can take a closer look into this.

Hey! Any tips for how to get the game to launch if it doesnt? Any versions prior to 4.7. and the game doenst launch after I downgrade. I tried renaming Launcher.exe and -skipintro- tricks but to no avail

Hi Greg.... sry for a bit offtopic content... I used for long time your huge number mod.. Unfortunatelly it looks like that it doesn't work for Enhanced Graphics. Is it possible, that you also upload one for the Enhanced Graphics? :)

Just use Steam instead to verify the integrity of game file. It seems they have blocked the 1st depot of 6 September patch.

@@GregSteinAoE2 OK how should I do this, so far, i've verified the integrity in Steam of the current patch (all fine). But even so, the downloader throws the same error when I try to revert to any older patch..

Hey! It downgrades, but then says 'Failed to initialize draw system' upon launching the game. and doenst launch. what to do? Thanks! EDIT: actually, it doesnt say that anymore, just doenst launch AoE2HD on any pre-2016 patches for me. any help? Otherwise, works great. thanks a ton.

It looks more like some VC++ component is missing or graphics card driver or DirectDraw/Direct3D are disabled so here's what you should try in a nutshell: - Install AllinOne VC++ www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ - Add the following steam Launch Option for AOE2 HD : SKIPINTRO - Download DirectX control and ensure DirectDraw and Direct3D are enabled m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/microsoft_directx_control_panel.html Still not working? Rename launcher.exe to launcher-old.exe and rename AoK HD.exe to launcher.exe then try again.

@@GregSteinAoE2 hey again! did all said fixes, but it still doesnt launch the game at all (pre-2017 versions, about). the launch window appears, but when i click Play then the game stops by itself before it even starts. sorry for the trouble. EDIT: I found the necessary patch IDs in steamdb and edited them into the depatches.txt. Now, at least, all the patches after Sep 2016 work. before that, any patches I revert to, it never opens the game when you click Start in the launch window.
