Down’s Syndrome Twins Are One In A Million
SUBSCRIBE to Barcroft TV: bit.ly/Oc61Hj
IN MATCHING blue jeans, white smocks and suede boots, five year-old identical twins Abigail and Isobel are not only impossible to tell apart - they’re also one in a million twins. Because while the chances of giving birth in the UK to a baby with Down’s syndrome is approximately one in 1,000, the odds of giving birth to identical twins with the condition is one in a million. Mum and dad Jodi and Matt Parry couldn’t be prouder of their daughters and say even if their adorable girls could be born again without Down’s syndrome, they wouldn’t wish for Abigail and Isobel to be any different.

What I really noticed is when he was saying that things take a bit more effort with sisters who have down syndrome then with those who don't, he didn't say 'if they were normal' or something like that. He paused and thought how to word it and then said "if I had sisters with not down syndrome" even though normal was probably an easier word to think of he didn't use it and I thought that was pretty beautiful.

The doctor said sorry because deep down no parent wishes for their child to have this. They are still their daughters, and the connections they have will always be there. However, it will be harder on the parents. I 100% support children with downs, but it is the truth that no parent would ever wish to have a child with this.

They're the most special twins I've ever seen. Respect to their family for giving them the care they deserve!
Thank you for bringing awareness to how valuable the lives of these children are. I don’t have children with downs but I have 4 autistic children so I have been blessed with meeting many children like your beautiful girls in speech therapy for my kids. I grew up playing with an older man who had downs and he was one of the greatest people I have ever met. I feel the same way about my children why doctors apologize to us for are genetically original children. Thank you thank you thank you for this video!
The brother ♡♡♡ He won my heart when he said "then if my sister's didn't have down syndrome" instead of 'normal sisters'. goodness what a great young man. those girls are seriously lucky just as those parents cause people with DS have the purest of hearts ♡

Emma Eire I completely agree. I'm expecting a daughter with downs and although I'm still just as excited for her to arrive, it's terrifying to think of the different challenges she might meet that her brother without has experienced. It's just like having a child who's gay in my eyes; the love doesn't change in the slightest but I'd fear for the challenges and cruelty that they may come across. Either way, being a parent is completely terrifying.... Trying to make sure they're safe but learning, trying to keep them from certain pains but knowing it's guaranteed.
@Lulic

Wink Blue I see your point, don't agree, but now I understand you are concerned. I mentioned abortion, because I am not a fanatic. Anyway there are plenty of solutions she can choose from, and hopefully she won't regret her decision(I have an adult with Down syndrome in my family). But almost 100% sure that her other children will have to take care of this child after she passes away, which makes her decision slightly selfish.

The doctor said sorry because he most likely does not know the beauty of raising a child with a disability. Yes, there is sorrow but, there is beauty in it too. People are the way they are meant to be and God sends people on missions in life that only they can do. Those twins are perfect they way they are and if the doctor was only looking at things from a medical standpoint then I feel more sorry for him than the twins.
THEY’RE SO STINKING ADORABLE

No, they don't always smile. Once they realize they're different from other kids or teenagers, they can become very frustrated, depressed and aggressive. They see that they can't do the same things in school, can't get their driver licenses and can't have children, but can't understand, why. That's a devastating feeling. Hence, they are definitely not always happy and smiling and loving.
What a good big brother. Whoever he ends up with some day is going to be a really lucky person, because he is and will be so caring. These two girls are SO sweet & it's so nice they'll always have a friend who's got the exact same level of intellect as them.

I don't see the point in judging the doctor for saying sorry. He probably wasn't about to say that like if he was feeling sorry that they havent know about the condition and havent terminated the pregnancy or something like that. He was only expressing that he is sorry for the children and the family that they will have to face much more difficulties, medical problems and lower life expectancy than if the twins didnt have down syndrome. Please dont say to me that having down syndrome is something you want for your child. Of course if it happened i would love my child just as much as if they havent got the condition, but as a parent I would feel sorry for them knowing how much life in this world will be harder for them. I am curious what is your opinion on this
@maddyjoy1771
6 жыл бұрын
Sooo true. These videos always imply "I'd rather my child had Down syndrome". Even though you love and adore your children, it's not the Down syndrome that defines them. You'd love and adore them just the same if they didn't have Down syndrome. Plus like you said there are complications, lower life expectancy etc. I'd say sorry if I were a doctor too, it's not like he's going to say "congrats".

Beautiful video. Beautiful children. They give me a Happy feeling.
People (aw well as animals) with down syndrome are better than usual people. They are sweet, kind, and fun. My cousin has Down syndrome and he's the family's favorite person. He's 30 now and he works, gives us phone calls and texts us, is a great photographer as well and never a mean person, but speaks the truth, no matter how brutal. We're thankful for having him.
They are too precious. Awesome that big brother is so loving towards his sisters.
When my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother, she was 43 and there was a 1 in 50, or 2 percent, chance that he would have had Down syndrome. But at her amniocentesis at 16 weeks, she and my dad discovered that he was in the other 98 percent! She has always said that even if there had been something wrong, she still would have continued the pregnancy. Now Matthew is 21 years old, 6 foot 1, and in his third year of university, studying in France this year.

Matt was also born at 29 weeks 4 days after the placenta started slowly detaching; my mom was in labour for 30 hours from the time her water started leaking at around 8:30 AM on January 19th until he was born by C-section on Saturday, January 20th, 1996 at 2:42 PM EST weighing 1621 grams or 3 pounds 9 ounces; considered LGA, probably because Mom took such good care of herself during the pregnancy; she didn't drink, took her prenatal vitamins, stayed away from my grandparents when they were smoking, etc.

Often people with down syndrome do sound a bit different when they speak because the shape of their mouth and nose is a little different to normal. A speech therapist would be able to help, or at least give more information. Overweight is not unusual, she might not be eating well or finds it hard to be motivated to be active. I could find some websites with more information if you'd like.

That is a good family. The little girls are absolute sweethearts and so is their older brother.
I knew a guy who was an assistant supermarket manager who had/has (he's still amongst us i think) down syndrome to a light degree,...he operated his job as assistant manager effectively and efficiently, he even had a drivers license and a car and lived independently in his own house he bought.⬅(although his parents had to guarantee the mortgage, even the Supermarket chain helped him out as support in that) We've got a restaurant were i live operated by people with the syndrome to various degree's, with some supervision they run that place great and turn a good profit. They operate the kitchen, set the menu, the supply chain, the service staff,....even the bookkeeping and the supply gardens (yep, fresh veggies and herbs) mostly themselves, it's great to see that. So, for people to just write them off as "not useful" or "not capable of anything much" is severly ignorant based on the severe lack of knowledge and interest on the subject and in some case's on the lack of empathy. Great mini doc 👍.

They're useless and might as well be dead? My daughter has down syndrome n doctors had me so scared to keep the pregnancy. I never even considered terminating my pregnancy, yet they continue to go on and on about how many issues she would have with breathing and her heart. The beginning was hard for her constant ER visits. Now she is doing very well because I stopped listening to the doctors n started to research help on my own. Since than she hasn't used a breathing machine for over 2 years. She made me love mornings I use to be very grumpy in the morning. She woke up and still wakes up with a smile every morning. It's touched me when the mother said I wouldn't change her for anything. Because that's what I think everyday of my life. She loves everyone. I feel blessed to be her mother. She makes me better.

This family is so Wonderful! The twins are so cute & their brother really loves them. Even if they do wake him up at 5am. People with DS are some of the sweetest people on Earth. I was in nursing school, assigned to the nursery. A Beautiful, red-headed baby girl was brought in, with the suspicion of DS. The parents were very young & had no known family history, so there weren't any tests done. After conformation from a physician exam, it was determined that the child indeed had DS. The parents did say that she looked like an Uncle, so family history was possible. I remembered thinking to myself that if for some reason the parents wouldn't want her, that I would take her. Luckily, that wasn't an issue. I believe that she's about 24yo by now. I wonder how she's doing.
What a beautiful family! Isobel & Abigail are precious, like I just wanna hug them.
They have a great big brother. I know people who have down syndrome and they are great people with beautiful hearts. What a beautiful family.

Hi Sophie, Well said 👏 it really is a beautiful documentary. I’ve recently released a Mini Documentary on Down Syndrome. If you would like to watch it, You can find the Documentary on my Channel or search on KZread for Nicola and Jessica | Living With Down Syndrome If you end up watching one, I would love to hear your feedback ☺️♥️ Wishing you a lovely Monday, Steph
I absolutely love when parents dress twins in matching outfits. They are so adorable in their identical wardrobes.

Emily King I strongly disagree. Twins may look alike, but they each have their own personalities. Dressing them alike takes away a part of their individualities.

I have a twin brother and STRONGLY disagree with you. It makes people refer to you as "the twins", and people always compare you up against each other in every way. Which is very annoying.
Does anyone else think that Down syndrome babies are just the cutest ?!?❤️😇

Why are British children so mature at young ages. This little guy sounds like a grown man. So well spoken.
Its true. They really make you smile! Two beautiful little girls! Respect to mama, papa and of course their older brother!
My cousin has down syndrome any she is the happiest girl alive and I just want to say those twins are beautiful I hope they live a long healthy and happy life

The755gamer Maybe a few people live like that. I think that my 1st ex-husband probably ran that route. I'm just asking cuz my son has learning disabilities & we just found out that he's on the autism spectrum...he turned 21yo this month...but he lives what many people would consider a 'normal life'. He works, enjoys gaming, hangs with friends, looks out for his Nana, as well as me, etc. He's also done things that we were originally told that he'd never do, ie graduate from a regular high school. He did even better than a 'regular' hs, by graduating from a tech hs in IT. He makes beautiful animae (?sp?) too. I guess that what I'm trying to relay to you, is everyone's idea of 'normal', is different.

Awkward Silence they live a normal life its not like they are parilozed and can't move . they can do whatever they want. that are just like me and you .I hope you know that you just made a big sin by saying that.
The best part is they have each other. Beauty is where you find it and they are beautiful
Thank you for sharing this, your family is a joy to see!
Such a beautiful family, those parents are truly blessed to have 3 great kids. 💝
What beautiful children you have. The girls are adorable!
Awesome inspiring video...these precious little girls were born into the RIGHT family. Big brother is so encouraging and loving, too.
I've never heard of twins with downs syndrome and my partners niece has it aswell so I do click on things concerning downs etc. She is older now 21 but she is more like 10/12years old in her personality and likes and dislikes etc and her awareness for safety etc. Certain things like humour she is very quick and witty but other things she can be quite vulnerable etc and she is so innocent and such a sweetheart ❤️ These girls are absolutely beautiful and amazing and very clever and there brother is such a sweetheart too. Great kids. Great family ❤️😘
4:52 i cant hold the laugh 😂😂😂
I can't wait to see them grow up!! They're so precious!
My brother has Down Syndrome & is 20 years old; I've rarely seen him upset...to know him his to know pure joy! I love him so much
Just two beautiful children and a brother that loves them. You have been blessed. I wish your family happiness and healthy lives. ✌️❤️
I'm sorry but the mother is making too much of a big deal over the doctor saying sorry, when they have to say your child has any condition they'll say sorry because it's an awkward job to do

Why would someone be sorry that two beautiful and healthy babies are born with down syndrome? It should be looked at as an extra gift, not a problem.

Blurryface's Best Fren he shouldn’t have said sorry because it’s negative, and as a doctor he should know how to properly act in these situations. There are plenty of ways to say your baby has down syndrome without being sorry
They’re so cute God bless them 🍬🍭💕
They are beautiful. God bless their parents and brother.
they’re so adorable i wanna give them a hug 🥺
Beautiful girls! And I love their backyard!
What a lovely and sweet family. My nephew has Down syndrome and he's 32 years old. He is hysterically funny and as sweet as can be. The world needs more people with Down Syndrome, not fewer. They are much nicer than 'normal' people and they are incapable of lying or being something that they're not. They have much to teach the world!

@@myman8336 It is a common genetic mutation. Do you suggest that we murder all children adults and their parents and siblings? It is genetic and you are a terrible person.

how darling are they! The whole family is wonderful, and the girls will make tremendous progress because of the support they have from their family!
How awesome for them to have someone you love who has the same condition and understand you like nobody else! They will never be alone. ❤

I don't think the Dr was trying to be mean by saying sorry. I think it is hard for all doctors to have to tell the parents that their babies have a disorder. I probably wouldn't know to say other than sorry. I'm glad the situation turned around for this family 😀
