The priory was Catholic and Dowland a Catholic convert.

Thank you so much! The flute is a tenor in D made by Giovanni Tardino from maple wood, a really wonderful instrument

Dowland wrote for voice (and of course for lute), but I think he would have liked the wonderful sweetness and agility of this flute.
