    Richard, this is an amazing guitar. I bought one from you and do not regret it! I use it as my main guitar for podcasts and gigs. The sustain and tone is better than any other guitar that I own. I feel the guitar vibrating when I strum and wish I had bought one a few years ago. Best value for money guitar! (I haven't heard a guitar from my friends who love the big vendors that can match what this does.)

    Richard I went to your shop today with my eye on an Ebony, possibly a Gandallio with the Paduak there but not really in the running. Well I tried all 3 plus 3 -4 Furch and a few others and............I bought the Paduak. I'm genuinely blown away by the guitar and cannot wait for it to arrive once it's been through your set-up and checks. Jake and Jon are brilliant ambassadors for you. My thanks to all for your help, support, patience and no Micky-taking of my poor skills.

    I recently bought a used Dowina padauk guitar that you sold to someone traveling through Europe last year. About the same time you made this video. So I'm pretty sure I have one of the two you had when making this video. Mine has the C+ on the bracing. And the case has a Richard's white strip on it. I could care less about flamed, salted, striped or whatever. When holding and playing the guitar you can't see the back and sides well anyway. This guitar sounds amazing. I know a manager of a Guitar Center and I took the Dowina in for him to see and play. He was astonished at the sustain and build quality. And he sells Martin and Taylor. After years of buying and selling guitars I had a dream list of 3 guitars. Dowina padauk, Furch yellow plus cedar and Padua, and a Yairi Honduran Adirondack. Dowina guitars are hard to come by here in the US so I bought the Furch and the Yairi. Then I found this Dowina for sale. Now I have all 3 of my dream guitars. For the price I would have paid for just one high end Martin or Taylor!

    Hi Richard, I’m curious how the Paduak would sound on a Dowina Nylon Hybrid guitar, cedar or spruce? What is your opinion versus a rosewood back and side? So many amazing tonewoods from Dowina to choose from!! 😀

    Sounds good to me (within the scope of KZread) but if I wanted electrics what would you suggest Richard? Also, when you say custom made does this mean the neck width is an option? I like 44mm - no more no less.

    Lovely guitar. Richards does Stan have any plans for an OM/000 or grand concert medium sized guitar? There's a big jump from the Bona vida parlour to the GA, which is a more contoured dreadnought really. I think he would do such a great job of that size.

The one I have coming has a brand new development - hidden heel and another incredible little design feature I can’t explain easily here but will show you soon! I have my top recommendations all being made in OMG as we speak !!

    @@RichardsGuitarshop would be very interested in this, as per my email to you. This is one reason (as well as the tuned top) that I think this particular guitar would not be for me. If you have an OM in the works then I'd be there like a flash. If it had any other contouring (given that I have cubital tunnel) then take my money now.

    The top is tuned to a c#. Nonsense. I'd like to see how they do that... I'm still waiting for a blind test video. Cheap furch blue v red series, with voicing technology (gimmick) Same for dowina. Let KZread decide which one sounds best.

    I think this is the reason why I have ruled this out of my search- surely tuning to a specific note like this (I note I would probably never ever play anyway) would interfere with the natural resonances of the instrument?

    @@robbiejguitarist Hi Robbie. I couldn't agree more. All it is is sales jargon. I asked Richard to do a blind test video. And let us KZread fans decide. Best buying a used guitar and save hundreds of pounds 💷. He slags off Martin and Taylor. Now he doesn't sell them. Who's heard of dowina guitars.?? Unless you've watched this channel before. One sold on eBay. Cost £1699 new Sold for £620. Richard describes the taylor v brace as a market ploy and gimmick in a video on Taylor v class bracing. What 🎸 do you play. Where are you from? I have alot of high end guitars. 4 furchs. They do make a nice guitar.

  • @RichardsGuitarshop

    @RichardsGuitarshop

    The tuning of the tops is about finding the natural frequency in which the top resonates and making sure the bracing is made to accommodate it. It doesnt mean the guitar is tuned to C# or there are any issues tuning it to E! Its merely a way for the builder to do justice to the resonance of the woods natural frequency - and beyond my expertise. Its totally fine to have an alternate point of view but please just be respectful to me - and the Dowina brand by not insinuating a process that requires incredible skill is a mere "sales gimmick". By doing so is rude and disrespectful to the good people of Dowina. This guitar is a tone machine - and hopefully some of that is down to the work they do on the bracing - lets just accept that as reality as thats how they are made and they wont be changing that important aspect because you dont believe in it. Everyone has a right to enjoy the guitars they enjoy - for whatever reason that may be but I dont think you or I have the technical ability to undermine these craftsmen and the work they do.

    @@robbiejguitarist Thats not the case Robbie as I have explained to you in an email. I totally understand that you may want to learn more about it and get a better grasp so why not contact Stan and Erika directly and have a chat with them about it? As I was saying to you - If they know what specific tunings you play to - and what sound you are looking for - this is EXACTLY why people like Dowina exist - they can find the right wood - that resonates particularly well for specific tunings - its all from many years of experience. Hope that helps!
