@houseofchintz That is because they do not come shave ready. Most places that sell them tell you that they need to be honed.

Notice how many people are involved in the manufacturing process. They are all skilled craftspeople who deserve to be payed quite well, not drones who screw on a bolt a piece in some cheapo assembly line. There is balance and precision in every step, especially the grinding and honing. Also, you have to take into account the retailers who need payment, and the company must post a profit. All of them must make a living. I think the price is just about what it should be.

In this day in age, you're considered a bit quirky if you even shave with a straight razor. Watching this video, I can't help but think that the people who work at Dovo's factory have to deal with even more scrutiny and incredulous questions in their day to day life. "What do you mean your JOB is to make STRAIGHT RAZORS? How is it you make a living peddling a DEAD means of shaving? Do you also moonlight as a deckhand on a whaling ship or something? Are leeches your cure for a headache?"

Wird Zeit dass ich mir bald ein Rasiermesser von Dovo kaufe. Ich bin dieses ewige Klingen wechseln echt leid...Vor allem das Geld, was ich im Jahr für Gilette Rasierklingen ausgebe, kann ich mir locker ein gutes Rasiermesser für kaufen.

I should have taken German in high school! Ah maybe not. After 5 years of French all I can say is est-ce que je peux aller aux toilettes ?

I had to send my brand new Dovo Special to a professional honer before I could shave with it.

@KruNae Haha, it looks dangerous indeed, but only water droplets go in his face. There are other more health-devastating jobs that look just fine next to this.

If they make that many straight razors a day the price should be half of what it cost.

I find the Dovo quality not very good. the wood cracks, pins rust, letters fade away,hard to hone, low quality steel.
