    G'day, fellas! I immigrated to Australia from Texas. Nobody down here even knows that doves are edible. You have kick the things out of the way when you're walking down the street! All native wildlife are protected in Oz, but there are lots of large feral doves - Eurasian Spotted Turtledoves. Open season year round, no bag limit and they will happily walk into a funnel trap. Heaven!

    I save up the tenders until I have a fair amount, then season them and cook them up in a skillet with some eggs for dove breakfast tacos. Have also made rabbit and dove gumbo that was good. Chicken fried dove breasts.

    When honey gets that thick it means its fermented which isn't good it means the moisture level in the honey is to high

  • @justGOLD7

    @justGOLD7

    I realize it's not what had happened there but honey will naturally crystalize as it is all sugars anyways, just need to be heated it in a double boiler until it is pourable again. Sadly people have thrown out perfectly good honey because of that, thinking it has gone bad. Honey, unlike other foodstuffs, naturally repels oxygen so in its original state it never spoils.

I’ve wrapped them in bacon, done the poppers, done them in a wine gravy almost a soup style . All of which were decent but still had a bit of the liver taste . Any info would be much appreciated

    I don’t know what you mean by “liver taste” but you could marinate the dove meat in something before cooking it. Like you could marinate it in hot sauce over night or milk. You could blend up garlic, parsley, onion and spices and marinate it in that.
