No disrespect intended, but this is an actor I'd never heard of slamming the work of an actor whose portrayal of Holmes is almost definitive. Calling Brett's flamboyance a way of compensating for mental illness is the insensitive opinion of an envious, half-remembered actor. Again, no disrespect intended.

Wilmer is the Holmes I grew up with and he was brilliantly cast. You cannot get away with being disrespectful by starting with "No disrespect ntended". Your ignorance of Douglas Wilmer doesn't alter the fact that he has more of a right to talk on ths particular subject than you do.

@@PaulMcCaffreyfmac we all have enough rights to talk on the subject, as we all read Conan Doyle's stories and can judge the works of Brett and Wilmer. And we all know who did it better. No disrespect to Wilmer.
