This is one of the few livestreams I missed. Definitely needed to watch it. I'm struggling so much with this very topic right now, and have been for a few months. It's been an agonizing process and I'm now at a point where I don't know what to do. This session addressed a lot of the pressing issues well, but I have to admit there's a heavy and solemn feeling within me. if any Catholics happen to see this, please pray for me.

Growing up a nominal Catholic, then getting "saved" through Protestant Evangelicalism, it was a long, hard road back to Catholicism through the Protestantism one has steeped themselves in. Retraining / re-convincing the mind is a long, hard walk back, even when you encounter things that obviously show Catholicism is right.

Excellent discussion. I’m an Eastern Orthodox (Greek) since birth and my experience in Catholic churches over the years was as brother Beaumont describes. I was welcomed and respected as a brother in Christ but from a fellow Apostolic church. I would agree also, however, that I found the blatant liberalism (decorum, Mass service, and homilies) in the Catholic churches I have visited very off-putting.

Thanks Sam Shamoun - you led me to Catholic Church - starting from Introducing Robert Sungenis video on refuting Sola Scriptura- Then i was led to coming Home Network channel , which has some great Videos from Scott Hahn, Marcus Grodi, Ken and Matt , I came to know a very different interpretation of the Bible, Liturgy ,Church History, Traditions of the forefathers.. Morally this Church supports family, one reason families fall apart in US is because they have Interpreted scriptures their own way, its a Disaster. I feel so Thankful to God Almighty for leading me to Catholic Church

What made me leave Evangelicalism after coming from an SDA background was looking into the 'taboo' subject of Mariology. I found that Mary points and informs of who Jesus Christ really is, not remove or distract from Him. Also, I found it peculiar that the vast majority of Protestants don't accept the third ecumenical council of Ephesus affirming Mary as Theotokos but trust the first 2 councils but then ignore some of the others after that. But unlike the brother here who you interviewed, I went to the EO church.

Sam I hope you accept another comment on purgatory or purgation a description more comprehensive. I asked my Catholic bishop after mass on one of his visits to our parish church this very question. "How do you understand purgatory?" Bishop Gregory (an Australian Asian heritage gentleman) with a friendly smile said. "Purgatory is now" ( in the living years). Thus answer aligns with Doug's explanation. Many thanks for your respectful debate. The internet appears to be a powerful method to spread the good news of salvation to the entire world.

I've watched most all of your videos especially this one about you Catholic friend. I did my studies found a gentleman named Mike Gendron and I'm curious as to what you would think if you saw his information. in regards to the Catholic Church historically and currently. I am a Christian who believes in the infallible word of God. Jesus my Savior. God in three persons. Saved by Grace alone unto good works.

All the best to my separated brothers and sisters.... as I was always taught and led to believe that we are still brothers and sisters.... because according to the Catholic Church teaching we all belong to the Catholic Church if we are baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity... as Didache and the Gospel of Matthew 28:19 explains how you belong to the Church founded by Jesus...

How sure are the protestant that they go to heaven directly when they die.

There is also the Latin Mass, Traditional Catholicism is is super reverent and conservative and in communion with the Pope unlike The SSPX ... Wich just in case Vatican III tries to get rid of TLM then I'm gonna go SSPX and not Eastern Orthodox, even if I am Romanian and my wife is Latvian. I lovey Orthodox brothers and I always defend them, but it turns me off when they talk so bad about Catholics. I am catholic , going to The Traditional Latin Mass and believe the Church in Vatican is in apostasy unfortunately, but Jesus Promised us the The gates of Hell will not Prevail, and I am so surprised that many come to the Catholic faith now. I don't think Novus Ordo is ilegit or something but I don't wanna return to a church that reminds me and my wife of our Protestant background. I am saying that me and my wife are Catholic because we are very Shure of our faith soon finishing RCIA.
