There are multiple methods you can use to double or half a number such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. It helps us know how to divide things in equal parts or get more of them. So...
1) To double a number we add that number to itself twice
2) To find a half of a number we decompose it in equally parts (or divide by two).
