Good guide. There was a new setting in there that I haven't set so ill have to test if that improves it for me. The only thing I was missing in this video was a before and after FPS comparison

@mushdock7221 honestly I am not sure. Your GPU could get that with these settings at 1080p possibly, but your CPU is going to take a battering. 16GB of RAM is not ideal, but doable. I think you will struggle in cities, but in space you could be ok.
Thanks for your guide. FPS definitely increased, at least in some areas. used to have between 30 and 59, lowest so far was 39, and even had it reach 80 in some areas.

Render resolution is important. The details settings those with low medium high will apply to the selected resolution. That's it if you have a monitor with that resolution. 4k takes more resources at high details than it does 1080p at high details.
im running RTX 3060, Ryzen 7 5600g, 32GB RAM was averaging 25-30 fps in New Babbage City (used for the testing). Using Dave's Settings here on 2k resolution, im now running 40+ FPS constantly. Well done good sir, well done. 07!

Quality and graphic settings are important. Especially if you have a weaker cpu. And unlike most games lower settings will often give you worse performance as they don't utilize the GPU and offload more of the work to your CPU. I don't recommend going lower than high.
@dazza5137

I'm running 7680x1440p and this uses quite a bit of GPU, but my CPU is only hitting maybe 20%. I'd actually prefer to offload some tasks to my CPU. Would this work in my case?
cheers mate, loved the vid and was super helpful.
You are legend, Thanks :D
+ for mentioning the server. I think server's impact to fps is 20% possibly more. Cloud setting up to 10%. Nothing else seems to matter that much. One last check is to make sure Resizable BAR (Base Address Register) or AMD's Smart Access Memory (SAM) is enabled.
much appreciated, it works!
This actually doubled my FPS cheers!
Leaving graphics setting to high is important. the textures are being streamed from the ssd at 4k resolution. if you change these settings then the cpu will have to work harder to scale them before they get rendered by the gpu.
Thanks for the guide dude! In lorville, My fps stayed at 20 but Ive exerienced WAY less FPS drops and at teasa spaceport ive went from 15-20 fps to 30fps avg and that one area at teaasa spaceport with the many terminals ive always had 10ish fps, now I have 20-30! its definetly a double if not triple Note: In low Hurston orbit I used to get 30 Fps but now its 45 FPS, and in mid space my FPS went from 35 to 60 or even up to 75 FPS just with this guide!

Just for the record; putting the settings to low instead of high will offload work from your GPU to your CPU, which you do not want since SC is a very CPU intensive game. Dont put the setting on low.

Since its a global setting I would also suggest for safety sake to set 'max frame rate' to 80 or what ever you prefer, these settings make SC run great on my machine but in 'New World' it breaks the games in game frame cap limit(yikes given that games history at launch having unlocked fps and the effect it had on some flawed nvidia gfx cards) also imo its better to have roughly consistent fps than having it jump up and down all over the place.

8:05 Hey, you must be joking? These settings affect most games. Many options like AF and AA are overwritten by the game, but others are not. This is common sense. I use the panel since it was first introduced decades ago. E.g. settings like AF x8 or x16 don't affect the FPS much on modern GPUs, but AA and resolution do. On my system in Star Citizen it's a huge difference switching from 1080p to 1440p or up to 4K. But online the FPS are highly affected by the server performance. The resolution of the clouds do affect my visuals. I can't look at them with pleasure in 1080p at less than the very high setting. The shader cache on 10GB is a great setting though.
Thanks Dave. these setting helped a lot. Be good, or be good at it

@JustDave_GG
Жыл бұрын
Yeah these settings can be funny, all work for some and only parts work for others.
Server can certainly affect your FPS. And that's either a consequence of a general sense and how particular game is done in general. In general sense that is because server always sends you info about your surroundings at least, and the client has to process it. And not necessarily even render. And those surroundings may differ significantly from time to time. As an abstract example, imagine you are near a bunker and nobody and nothing is nearby, or when there are tons of debris already, which server informs you about. Who knows what else server is constantly informing the client about. And here comes the other side of the coin: how well this process is optimized or not. As an another example: imagine you are on a station and there are hundreeds of empty bottles lying on ground. On one hand, they are lying mostly still, and server could tell you about them only once, until something changes. But on the other hand, the server (or developers) may be lazy to "filter" this info and always send it to you, as if this surrounding is always changing, forcing the client to "update" all those entities even though nothing changes in fact. P.S. These were just abstract thoughts. I'm completely unaware how SC is done in particular. But I'm pretty confident the latter part (optimization) aplies to it.

Most of these if not all were the actual suggestion since 3.0. I did run this game for 10years on a i7 2600k + GTX970 and 24GB DDR3 this way. Except clouds of course, which are new and which BTW you shouldn't really turn off, since there is a gas giant completely made of them. You might miss a whole planet. 😅
Having just come from an extremely deep dive into nvidia and graphics settings and how it all works this video was a tough watch. I was hoping to learn something new about SC but instead I can perhaps impart some info: Shader cache size is better higher. 100gb. The difference you're getting at 10gb is either identical performance or worse but with cognitive biases in. The same true for your page file custom size. Its only even used when your ram runs out. And performance mode does NOT enable the gpu to run better. It simply doesn't let it back off. So you can expect a tiny bit faster response going from low draw to high draw areas, but it's not an overall limiting factor. It is best to have it on, but it's cost benefit is not a great trade.
Ends the video by saying not to do this if you are a content creator .. fuck.. now I have to undo all that!

You could try deleting your shaders.
Okay it‘s me again but this time I need your help. On wreckside outposts like „The Pit“ my fps drop down to like around 4. When I travel away from this areas my fps get back to normal. I tried to stay there for a amount of time because maybe they just had to load into the cache and I also messed around with my graphic settings, nothing helped. If someone could check it that it‘s only a client side problem for me. or if its a problem some others also have. Thanks a lot.
Yo I used these settings and everything runs a little smoother rn, it's still a laggy mess on most planets like Area 18 but it's much more manageable to deal with.

@@JustDave_GG The event does have a play in it, but even before the event started I was still noticing low fps around cities and stuff but the event just made more stuff to render.

@@GangsterBean247 yeah the cities can be bad, I find that these settings do help though, especially out of FF events
Any advice to get more consistent frames and not the big changes 5800x3d and 6750 xt 1080p max settings Cpu load around 30% Graphics card 90-100% Fps 60-110

Not really mate. SC frames are never really stable currently. Your stats look about right tbh.
