Tom, for doing that component drop, you are really, really brave.
Only in a Uwe Rosenberg game would a the difference between a short and long game be a single turn.

Lol. Ikr
The playerboard probably represents a viking grave so the tetris part totally makes sense. Viking jarls or wealthy vikings were buried together with lots of stuff, clothes, food, treasures, weapons and so on.
This might be Mr. Rosenberg's Magnum Opus. Amazing. Would love to play this but not sure who with, but willing to give it a shot.
Excellent! Thank you Tom and Melody!
"Pile of milk." Another Tom-ism. This game looks super good! I love the idea of covering up negative points.

Well, technically, if I have a pile of milk tokens....

And there were FOR SURE a pile of tokens in this game.

I drink a pile of milk everyday!
This has quickly become one of my favorite games. I love that there is always a pretty good move out there to do but it is up to you to find the best one. The Tetris puzzle aspect is great. So many strategies to go with. I haven't played Le Havre yet but this easily beats out Agricola and Caverna.
It would be fun to see a video comparing and contrasting the big uwe games.
Ohhhh boy! Can't wait to play this one. :)
Cool review! Looks fun!
This game looks amazing. Can't wait till it's released!
Great video guys!
This game looks so good. I can't wait.
That component drop. I'm sure Broken Token and the likes are salivating at the possibilities.
About to play this for the first time this afternoon. Looking forward to it very much. I love Agricola, and also Caverna. This looks right up my alley, though I really do not like analysis paralysis. I think the simplest solution to that is to have a clock, especially with more than 2 players. There is joy to be found in the calculations, though I do enjoy interaction just as much. I'll see how it goes...great review.

I came to the comments to make a similar one but yours is better :P
Holy cow! Looks like an analysis-paralysis factory. I think I'll stick with more simple games-- such as anything by Stefan Feld.

After two games this game has become quick between turns, no analysis paralysis. Robinson Crusoe would an AP factory, not this game.
Good god.
Fudge! Dat looks good!
Here I was thinking "Double Trouble" was going to be Tom and Melody working together to cover nice light family weight games. (This game frightens me.)

This impresses me. Melody can clearly handle heavier games than I can!

Why wouldn't she?
Great review as always. Question for Melody, where is that awesome outfit from?
This review being over 2 years old now, do you think it dethroned Caverna? Or which would you rather. I ordered A Feast for Odin from my game store the other day but I do not own Caverna yet. Wondering if that was a wise idea.
Must have.
Tom/Melody: I'm planning the Christmas gifts. What do you suggest. Should I go for Feast for Odin outer Terraforming Mars (I love Caverna if this changes anything).
Is this one of those games where "point salad" is used to describe it? Rosenberg seems to really like choice boards, feeding mechanics, and filling out a player board.
melodys mic seems like it gets turned up every time she speaks, meaning you can hear static...maybe putting it closer ?
Instant buy for me at Essen
The hand that holds the horn on the cover looks weird. --- I have trouble to understand Melody (I`m German).
This game is unavailable anywhere today (sad)
It would be informative to have the cover of the game in the video's Image, like in other reviews, so we can tell not only by the name of the game. It works better for me at least, it may help.
Thats some meat
I think the dice rolling for hunting and pillaging are 100% thematic. In reality if you're doing either of those things you're not going to automatically be successful. I think people are too quick with the "dice rolls bad" knee jerk reaction.
I don't typically back away from complex games with lots going on (happy owner of Sycthe)....but holy hell.

Scythe is a medium weight...I don't agree with the 3.30 on BGG. I think Scythe is about a 3.00 tops. This one looks heavy, but not insanely so. 3.5? Too heavy for me, but it's not like it's a Phil Eklund game. I think it just has a whole LOT OF CARDBOARD!
$170 for this where I live.

That's because someone is trying to cheat you. it hasn't been released yet. Wait a while. It shouldn't cost more than $50 or $60 in a couple months.

So many moving parts, options and weird rules. Looks like complexity for complexity's sake. Is this really fun to anybody?

There was somebody I heard that enjoyed it. I know I heard it somewhere. Hmm. Gosh, I just can't think where I heard a person (or was it two people) saying they enjoyed it! Surely it will come back to me.

This is also definitely NOT complexity for complexity's sake. Uwe doesn't make games like that. It also seems to make sense. It is way too heavy for me, but it clearly all comes together for those that can handle heavier games.
Patchwork is the actual game. This feels like work. Where's the tension?! Where's the FUN?!

This game kills patchwork for me.
Let's play this with the AP player and the psychiatrist (the one that likes to discuss all possible choices) that would be fun.
I don't like the new wave of Rosenberg's i am an Agricola and LeHavre guy, since Caverna every game is too much sand-boxy for my tastes.

As someone who suffers from anxiety, I agree. Too much choices means fear of screwing up, which means AP, which means other players getting annoyed at you. lmao
@jendubay3782

Diego Lima meh, but all choices are good. There’s really no ‘bad’ choice until the very last turn
The game seems short of components :(

I was expecting a literal truck filled with them from peoples comments, I'm slightly disappointed.
Nope.exe
Rosenburg. The Call of Duty of board gaming. Mash up similar mechanics and visuals over and over, and it still sells. I'll never understand. This game looks 10x messier than Fields of Arle. I'm going to rank it a 2, maybe 2 and a half. Pass. I'll stick to Glass Road and Patchwork.
Absolutely unenjoyable. Too many things happening, too many minigames (with different rules), just a multiplayer solitaire game, and takes 3-5 hours. Just torture. A very high quality torture device - but a torture device none the less.
