    @@katemohr6580it's not her getting enough milk this persons talking about, a freemartin is a female calf who has a male twin, in cattle this usually results in an intersex condition that makes the female calf infertile so they are unable to breed and unless you give them hormone supplements they are unable to produce milk(if you give them hormones they will eventually produce milk and so long as you continue to harvest that milk you can take them off of the supplements and continue milking them it's just not as easy as with a standard cow and you can't get calves from them, very rarely a freemartin will be fertile but it's not something a person should bet on)

    Notice in this dairy herd , some of the cattle have horns. That’s not the norm in USA our dairy cows are pretty much have had their horned removed. It’s a gastly process as I remember it from childhood

  • @badgerpa9

    Even more ghastly when a kid gets ran through by a horn. Better to cut them off, it is like trimming your nails there is no nerves in the horn and 3 blood vessels.

    @@badgerpa9 The end of the horn doesn't have blood flow, but the base absolutely does. In the US they clip the horn and then burn the base. Imagine clipping your nails and then taking a hot iron to the rest of your nail. Does that sound painfree?

  • @badgerpa9

    @badgerpa9

    Жыл бұрын

    @@user-zy4wv7yx1z I know no one in the USA that burns the base. Simpler once you cut the horn to pull the three blood vessels so they are not a cut but a tear and they stop bleeding right away. I have dehorned thousands of cattle with the old saw way and also with the new "chemical" way and I would rather do the saw, it is once and then the animal cannot run the horn through another animal or a person. If the animals have been interacted with and are not semi wild most do not even fight while you are removing the horn. If the animals are semi wild they fight that they are in a catch and do no want a person by them. By the way your comment that the end of the horn does not have blood flow, why would you cut the end of the horn? you are removing the horn so the animal cannot hurt another animal so you cut at the base only. Kind of a unintelligent comment. My cats fight getting their nails trimmed more.
